UNDEFEATED AMIR IMAM TO TAKE ON FERNANDO ANGULO IN 140-POUND WBC ELIMINATOR

ON SATURDAY, JULY 18, LIVE ON SHOWTIME®

Three-Fight SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING Telecast Headlined By

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Marcos Reyes From The Don Haskins Center In El Paso, Texas

EL PASO, TEXAS (July 10, 2015) – Undefeated 140-pound contender Amir “Young Master” Imam (17-0, 14 KOs) will take on veteran former world title challenger Fernando “"La Fiera" Angulo (29-9, 16 KOs) in a 10-round WBC super lightweight title eliminator in the opening bout of SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING® on Saturday, July 18, live on SHOWTIME (10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT) from the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas.

The winner of the Imam vs. Angulo scrap will be the WBC’s No. 1 mandatory challenger to the winner of the recently ordered Lucas Matthysse vs. Viktor Postol bout for the vacant WBC Super Lightweight World Title.

One of boxing’s fastest-rising prospects, the 24-year-old Imam has knocked out 14 of his 17 professional opponents since turning pro in 2011. The Albany, N.Y., native is coming off a lopsided 10-round victory over Walter Castillo on April 18 in a bout televised on SHOWTIME.

“I’m excited for the fight. My dream is finally coming true,” Imam said. “This is basically my title shot right here. This is the biggest fight of my career and I know I can’t mess it up. Not everyone gets to make it here, but I get to show the world my talents once again.”

A professional since 1999, Angulo is currently riding a five-fight win streak, with his most recent victory coming in November 2014 via a 10-round decision over Pedro Verdu. The native of Caracas, Venezuela via Ecuador made his U.S. debut in 2006 in a fight televised on SHOWTIME, losing a 12-round decision for the WBA Lightweight Title against Juan Diaz in Arizona.

“I'm excited to face Amir Imam on July 18,” Angulo said. “This is a great opportunity for me to get a huge win on SHOWTIME and in front of the great boxing fans in El Paso. I’m not going to waste this chance.”

Imam vs. Angulo joins a rare afternoon-evening doubleheader as CBS Sports and SHOWTIME combine to televise no less than five fights from the Don Haskins Center in West Texas.

Premier Boxing Champions on CBS will kick-off the action with a doubleheader featuring the U.S. debut of Irish champion Carl Frampton (20-0, 14 KOs), who will defend his Junior Featherweight World Championship against Mexican contender Alejandro “Cobrita” Gonzalez Jr. (25-1-2, 15 KOs) in the 12-round main event. In the PBC on CBS co-main event, heavyweight contender Chris Arreola (36-4, 31 KOs) will return to the ring against Cameroonian heavyweight Frederic Kassi (18-3, 10 KOs).

Later that evening, SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING takes center stage as Mexican superstar Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (48-2-1, 32 KOs) aims for redemption against fellow Mexican brawler Marcos Reyes (33-2, 24 KOs) in his first fight with renowned trainer Robert Garcia in a 10-round super middleweight bout. In the evening’s co-feature, a pair of top bantamweights will put their undefeated records on the line as Puerto Rican Olympian McJoe Arroyo (16-0, 8 KOs) takes on Arthur Villanueva (27-0, 14 KOs) for the vacant IBF Bantamweight World Championship.

"I'm focused. I don't care who my opponent is. I will show beautiful boxing (on July 25)."

Disappointed he hasn't fought Adonis Stevenson yet "Sure, I want to fight Stevenson. I do want that WBC title. My dream is to get the fourth title. I want to unify the titles. That's my goal. It'll be difficult to make (the bout with Stevenson), but I think it'll happen because of Kathy (Duva)."

"But I'm ready for anybody. I'm open for any fight."

Regarding Bernard Hopkins bout "My toughest fight was against Bernard Hopkins. It was the psychology of it (the bout). I had a pregnant wife and a future boy. I was fighting against a legend. It was a lot of pressure.

"I have a lot of respect for Bernard Hopkins. He's special. I believe in myself much more (after beating Hopkins)."

Training in general "When I was younger, I didn't work as hard as I do now. I'm stronger and have more power now.

"I work harder now. I have more motivation. My family. Being undefeated. I have new goals, new dreams. That pushes me forward."

His aspirations when he was in Russia before becoming a champion "People ask if I had hope of becoming a champion. I had hope. Hope was the only thing I had. Hope pushed me."

The wait is almost over, the time is drawing near. "Valley Fight Night 3" returns to the Sportsmen's Lodge courtesy of Lights Out Promotions and Bash Boxing. Following in the footsteps of previous "Valley Fight Night" installments, tickets are almost already sold out. For Tickets go to Bash Boxing

The near sellout crowd is set to witness an absolutely stacked card, from "rooter to the tooter", the card features a unique blend of battle tested veterans looking to punch their tickets back to the show, and hungry young predators looking to make a name for themselves as The City of Angels bears witness.

The main event features local legend, and avid face puncher Thor Skancke (6-6 MMA) who will take on the grappler Jason Cordero (5-6 MMA). The classic matchup of grappler vs. striker will be on display once again in this bout. Will it be a battle of transitions? Or will the lights go out in Studio City? A fight that cannot be missed!

The Co Main event features Alfred Khashakyan (4-1 MMA) vs Anthony Paredes (3-1 MMA). Khashakyan is arguably one of the top prospects in the area. His punches leave opponents unconscious, sipping their meals through straws. However this time, he may have finally found a rival with equal pedigree. Paredes comes in with a very well rounded striking game, backed up by a stifling wrestling game. If he can get Khashakyan to the mat, he may be able to maintain a solid advantage. This is another fight that could end being a marathon, or a sprint. Either way is another battle of top prospects you will eventually see fighting in the UFC.

Also on the Card:

Marcos Bonilla vs. Adel Al Tamimi (1-1 MMA)

Both fighters are exciting strikers with very different styles. Bonilla has deadly accurate hands, that make a mess when he throws them around. Add in his footwork, and snapping leg kicks and he is a nightmare for anyone. Al Tamimi may be the perfect match. If he can keep his distance, and move in and out of Bonilla's range, his karate style and hammering kicks can accumulate damage quickly, and his pace is always very measured. This fight could produce the *Knockout of The Night Candidate.

Daniel Clark (3-2 MMA) vs Marlen Magee (3-2 MMA)

This fight features two very well rounded tacticians, who have both been on the verge of the next level for quite some time. Clark may be the more well rounded fighter, but Magee is riding a 3 fight win streak, and will need to utilize his wrestling to neutralize the jiujitsu of his foe. Clark has all the tools for this game, however its been 8 months since his last fight. Ring rust is something Magee will certainly being looking to expose. This fight could produce the evenings slickest submission! *Submission of The Night Candidate

Dmitry Gerasimov (4-3 MMA) vs Max Ceniceros (6-2 MMA)

Another early candidate for Fight of the Night. Ceniceros is currently riding a five fight win streak and standing in the way of his sixth, a one very tough Russian. Gerasimov"s karate pedigree and aggressive style coupled with Ceniceros explosiveness will make this fight one of the best on the card. *Fight of the Night Candidate.

Levon Sargsyan (2-2 MMA) vs Chris Rodriguez (1-2 MMA)

Intriguing bout that pits two talented prospects, cut from similar molds, in a fight that should deliver machine-gun action from the opening bell. Make sure you get to your seats early this is a fight that is certain to entertain.

Matthew Spencer (2-0 MMA) vs Jonathan Ferrell (0-1 MMA)

Ferrell making his "Valley Fight Night" debut will be looking to showcase his striking skills early. Spencer will be looking to utilize his strength and grappling skills to bring Ferrell into deep water, where he can drown him. Whoever wins, it should be a fun scrap to watch.

Izic Fernandez (1-0 MMA) vs Derion Chapman (1-2-1 MMA)

How often does the curtain jerker actually have a chance to be Fight of The Night? This one does. Both fighters recently became professionals after extensive amateur backgrounds. This fight could end up being too close to call! *Fight of The Night Candidate

Valley Fight Night 3 takes place on Friday, July 10, 2015 at Sportsmen's Lodge Event Center located at 4234 Coldwater Canyon Ave. (cross street Ventura Blvd.) in Studio City, California.

Tickets can be purchased online at Bash Boxing or by calling

(626) 388-8888.

Tickets start at $50 for General Admission. A limited number of VIP bottle service tables are also available.

Doors Open at 6:30pm; First Bout at 7:00pm.

Doors open at 5:00 p.m. and the first bell rings at 5:30 p.m. The HBO Latino telecast airs live at 10:30 p.m. (live ET/tape-delayed PT).

Former interim WBA light welterweight champion, Johan Perez from Caracas, Venezuela, made his professional debut in March 2005 and racked up an impressive 14 wins before falling to the always-tough Pablo Cesar Cano in July 2012. He immediately rebounded with a win against Steve Forbes when he made his U.S. debut in January 2013 and continued his streak with three additional wins. After a defeat at the hands of Mauricio Herrera, Perez triumphed over Humberto Mauro Gutierrez in his first bout of 2015 and looks to extend his streak on August 8.

Hailing from Krasnodar, Russia, Dmitry Mikhaylenko made his professional debut against Ivan Kaberkon in July 2009. The fighter accumulated 16 wins in his home country before making his U.S. professional debut. He boasts recent victories over Felipe De la Paz Teniente, Ronald Cruz, and Sechew Powell. He will look to continue his impressive winning streak in his third fight in the U.S.

Undefeated Cuban heavyweight, Luis “King Kong” Ortiz has had an explosive career knocking out opponent after opponent since his professional debut in 2010. Ortiz has faced and defeated some of the toughest fighters of the sport, including Luis Andres Pineda, Henry Saenz, Alex Gonzalez and Lateef Kayode, all while adding the WBA FECARBOX Heavyweight Title, the WBA Fedelatin Heavyweight Title and the WBO and WBC Latino Heavyweight titles to his collection. Last month, Ortiz returned after a seven-month hiatus stopping Byron Polley in a first round technical knock out at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.

Alonzo Butler, the veteran heavyweight from Chattanooga, Tenn., made a strong debut in his hometown in October 2000 against Danny Wofford. The heavyweight kept his winning streak alive until June 2008 where he lost against tough competitor Friday Ahunanya. Butler quickly rebounded with two more wins against Douglas Robertson and Willie Perryman. After a loss to Travis Walker in 2011, he defeated Louis Monaco in 2013. He most recently was defeated by Brice RitaniCoe in 2014. August 8 will be Butler’s first bout of 2015 where he will look for the win against Luis Ortiz.

Tevin Farmer of Philadelphia made his professional debut against Oscar Santana in February 2011, and after four early losses, has rebounded racking up an impressive record of 19 wins against such recent formidable opponents as Angel Luna, Vicktor Chernous, Dominic Coca, Emanuel Gonzalez, and Noel Echevarria. Farmer will look to add to his current twelve-fight winning streak as he makes his Indio-debut at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.

Juan Rodriguez, the 27-year-old fighter from Puebla, Mexico, made his professional debut in Mexico defeating Eduardo Crescencio in March 2007. The veteran fighter went on to rack up an impressive number of wins, only succumbing to a handful of tough opponents throughout his career. Most recently, Rodriguez triumphed over Omar Lina on June 20 winning the vacant WBC super featherweight youth title in Tlaxcala, Mexico. August 8 will mark the third U.S. fight and first appearance at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.

Rising prospect Joet Gonzalez of Glendora, California has steadily climbed the professional ranks since his debut in 2012. Most recently, Gonzalez impressed fans with wins over his opponents Jose Angel Beranza at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino on May 22 and Ali Gonzalez on April 2 at LA FIGHT CLUB. On August 8, Gonzalez will look to add another win to his resume when he returns to Indio.

Quilisito Madera of Las Vegas made an impressive debut defeating Jesus Lopez in Fresno Calif. in October 2014. August 8 will be Madera’s second professional bout where he will look to clench the victory at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.

Neeco Macias is a familiar face to fans in Indio with August 8 slated to be his sixth appearance at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino. Popular southpaw Macias knows how to attract a crowd and the 23-year-old super welterweight will look to add to his win total and fan base when he takes on an opponent to be determined in a six-round fight. A professional since 2013, Macias is coached by his father Al and this family affair has resulted in eight consecutive victories without a loss, including an October 2014 stoppage over Roberto Crespo at Fantasy Springs.

Brazilian rising star Everton Lopes will return to Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, the venue where he made his professional debut clenching the victory against Evan Woolsey in February 2015. Lopes, a two-time Brazilian Olympic team member, went on to impressively defeat his next two opponents, Robert Alexander Seyam at the April-edition of LA FIGHT CLUB at the Belasco Theater in downtown Los Angeles and Marcelo Ezequiel Mesa in his home country in June of this year.

Former pro-basketball player turned boxer, Lionel Davis of Los Angeles, made his professional debut in June 2011 defeating Michael Finney. He went on to accumulate an impressive nine more victories, making him a tough opponent for any competitor in the ring. The 6’7 heavyweight most recently defeated Jorge Alberto Ramos in February 2014 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. August 8 will mark the 31-year-old’s first fight of 2015 as well as his first appearance at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.

On Luis Collazo

It was not out of blind faith that days prior to challenging Amir khan I told the deeply religious fighter that I felt his chances of winning were real good. He needed to weather an expected onslaught early in the fight, let his opponent build up false confidence (as he seems prone to), then gradually start to step in to target the body, and work it out so to catch Khan, who's vulnerable to uppercuts, late in the fight for a come-from-behind knockout victory. With all humility, the prizefighter from Brooklyn said that he could virtually see a similar scenario unfold in his mind, that anything could happen in boxing. (which I interpreted as an allusion to his underdog status.)

He's been a perennial underdog as a boxer practically from the day he turned pro, and even after he finally became a world champion, when he fought Ricky Hatton (which many believed he won, and so, too, against Andre Berto).

"This is your time, brother." I said. "Amir Khan has obvious advantages over you but you are fighting in HIS time. Look at what you did to Victor Ortiz when you got counted out." Very few thought he stood a chance against the younger Ortiz but he decked him in an exchange in two rounds. I thought that he could replicate an upset if he remained stable and composed, and not be overcome by Khan's whirling approach.

It turned out that Luis Collazo was totally outclassed by Amir Khan, who was too quick and light-footed that night in Las Vegas. The former world champion Collazo just could not catch up with the pace and distance without being countered effectively, to execute an in-fight. It only added up to a list of disappointing performances in his career, notably in his loss to a 34 year old Shane Mosley back in 2007 at Welterweight. Unlike some boxers that can rely on mere talent at times, Collazo's fighting style is as stable as his faith, yet the unforgiving audience demands excitement. When he could not come up with something more against an aging Mosley, at that time being completely unaware of his injured left hand, I thought to myself that he has got to believe in himself more, too, and take more risks, as if to back prayer with action. When he eventually lost that match by Unanimous Decision, I said that God has got nothing to do with that result. Only to realize that he fought his best under the circumstances.

Once again the American boxer of Puerto Rican descent faded away from the spotlight with a record of 36-6 spanning across a fourteen-year precarious career. He could have retired after his loss to Amir Khan last year, as some observers say he should have. Yet he remains still for the love of the sport and largely 'cause he believes he can still win a world title one more time. A notion that many undoubtedly scoff at as he is set to face a very powerful puncher in Keith "One Time" Thurman this weekend who has never lost a fight and has knocked out 21 of his 26 foes. It is a belief that could get him persecuted in the end, and these are strange times, but I am not surprised that he remains unfazed and firm in faith. He only has to relive the missed opportunities and moments of being at the receiving end of controversial decisions in his career to spur him to fight on and prove his true worth before finally calling it a career. Keith Thurman, in my humble opinion, has many technical flaws that could be taken advantage of by the more experienced and overall skilled former champion. He punches hard yet also fights too flatfooted but his raw power is expected to overwhelm the faithful yet older Collazo, whose entire career has been a series of re-evaluations, a meandering search for answers, purpose, and meaning.

On July 11, 2015 Luis Collazo shall fight, as a true christian goes, "the glory is in the struggle."

Darrel Church seeking to avenge loss in October

Light-heavyweight prospect, Darrel ‘The Baptist’ Church (2-1) is back in action on October 17th at Grays Civic Hall in Essex seeking to avenge his only loss in the professional ranks suffered at the hands of Angelo ‘Concrete’ Crowe (3-6) last June on a Carl Greaves Promotions show.

“Getting the win in October will mean the world to me,” Church commented. “I need to be able to get this fight behind me and move forward again in my career.”

The 25-year-old home fighter lost narrowly on points to Angelo ‘Concrete’ Crowe on June 20th at the same venue.

The 175-pounder from Tiptree, Essex immediately booked the rematch with his manager, Carl Greaves in an attempt to even the score as soon as possible.

Post-fight, Church was understandably deflated after tasting his first defeat in his boxing story so far which includes two professional and 11 semi-pro contests.

“I feel a bit better about the loss now as I have the rematch booked but October just can't come quick enough for me,” he said. “The best fighters in the world lose and it’s how you come back from it that counts. I got the rematch on straight away and I need to prove a point.”

The light-heavyweight, known to fans as ‘The Baptist’, claims to have taken too long to adapt to his opponent’s aggressive and awkward style in the opening rounds.

He explained, “He came out in the first round just flying at me so it took me a couple of rounds to get into. By the time I got into it and worked him out, the fight was almost over. In the third and fourth rounds, I came on strong and I wobbled him in the last round; with another two rounds, I could have stopped him.”

The rematch will be extended to a six round contest which will be the first for Church.

“Training will be the same as the last camp because it was nothing to do with the camp, it was the performance on the night. There may be a few adjustments in sparring as in stepping it up from the first bell but I can do the extra rounds fine and the longer distance will suit me better.”

Travelling opponent, Crowe’s only six-rounder came on his debut losing on points to Prince Davis in December 2010 in his home county of Devon.

Both light-heavyweights share several similarities in possessing the same number of wins on their records going into the last fight, victories over the same opponent in Curtis Gargano in 2014, the same manager in Carl Greaves and being matched in age at 25-years-old.

Church became the second unbeaten prospect to be scalped by Crowe, the first being Alex Gibbens in October 2013 in Brighton. The Sussex super-middleweight was five fights unbeaten until he was cracked by ‘Concrete’ in his home town and has not fought again since the defeat.

Teammates Liam Desmond (5-0), Paul Hilz (1-1), Joe Jackson Brown (2-0) George Hennon (1-0) and Shaun Hussein (1-0-2) will all be appearing on the same bill.

The main event sees Southern Area champ, Adam Dingsdale (13-2-1) go up against Kevin Hooper (17-3) for the vacant English lightweight title.

Both boxers come into the fight following back-to-back wins and this will be Hooper’s third crack at the English title after losing out on the super-featherweight version twice back in 2013.

Two debutants complete the line-up in welterweight John Wheatley from Harwich, Essex and Nigerian light-welterweight, Idris Hill.

Undefeated Cuban heavyweight, Luis "King Kong" Ortiz has had an explosive career knocking out opponent after opponent since his professional debut in 2010.

August 8 will be Butler's first bout of 2015 where he will look for the win against Luis Ortiz.

August 8 will be Madera's second professional bout where he will look to clench the victory at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.

The 6'7 heavyweight most recently defeated Jorge Alberto Ramos in February 2014 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. August 8 will mark the 31-year-old's first fight of 2015 as well as his first appearance at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.

FLANAGAN READY TO FOLLOW IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF HATTON AS HE CHALLENGES KNOCKOUT KING ZEPEDA FOR LIGHTWEIGHT WORLD TITLE LIVE AND EXCLUSIVE ON BOXNATION

LONDON (10 July) - Manchester hotshot Terry Flanagan is hoping to emulate his hero Ricky Hatton as he challenges for the lightweight world title this weekend.

The 26-year-old faces knockout artist Jose Zepeda, live and exclusive on BoxNation this Saturday night, with the Ancoats boxer looking to become the WBO champion in front of his home fans at the Manchester Velodrome.

His idol, two-weight world champion Hatton, claimed his first title on home soil when he overcame the highly respected Kostya Tszyu at the M.E.N Arena 10 years ago, a feat which Manchester City fan Flanagan is confident he can also achieve.

“What Ricky did in the sport is truly amazing. I remember as a teenager watching his fight live with Tszyu after me and some mates managed to sneak in and the atmosphere in the arena was electric. The place was buzzing,” said Flanagan.

“When Ricky won that fight people knew he was the real deal and all of Manchester was behind him – City fans and United fans. He drew in everyone and that’s something I’m aiming to do with my fight with Zepeda.

“I’m very confident that I can win this fight and bring the belt back to Manchester and become the first English lightweight world champion in history. It’s going to be a special night for me and a fight I believe will make people sit up and take real notice,” he said.

Hatton has been vocal in his backing of the undefeated Flanagan in the run up to the fight, something which only acts as a major boost for the former British champion, who has 27 wins on his record.

“I’m not fazed at all by fighting on such a big stage. I’m just soaking it all in and the support I have been given is fantastic. To hear Ricky is backing me is a huge motivation for me and that can only spur me on come fight night,” said Flanagan.

“When you hear a legend like Ricky is behind you it gives you that drive and push to go out there and do everything to bring the belt back home.

“I’ve been to his gym and spoke with him and he’s got experience of these situations so I’ve just soaked in all his advice. He’s been there and done it so he knows what he’s talking about and it’s great to have someone with that knowledge in your ear,” he said.

Unbeaten Zepeda though, who is renowned for his hard-hitting after knocking out 20 opponents in his 23 wins, will be just as hungry to have his hand raised at the end of the night.

‘Turbo’, however, is unconcerned at facing someone who is a notoriously quick starter, with 19 of Zepeda’s knockouts coming within the first three rounds.

“We’ve worked a lot on Zepeda and his style, and are well aware of what he’s going to bring into the ring early on,” Flanagan said.

“Steve Maylett, my trainer has got me in great shape for this fight and we have the right gameplan going in against someone with an aggressive style like Zepeda.

“I’m going to look to outbox him, use my skills, and will definitely rise to the challenge on Saturday night. I know what he’s coming with and I’m ready for it. I just can’t wait to get in the ring now and give the fans a really exciting, all action fight,” said Flanagan.

Also featuring on Saturday night’s BoxNation bill will be former bantamweight world champion Paul Butler who is looking to bounce back following his loss to Zolani Tete for the super-flyweight world title when he takes on Mexican Gustavo Molina.

Rising star Liam Walsh will also be out as he aims to make it 19 wins when he battles Isaias Santos Sampaio for the vacant WBO Intercontinental lightweight title.

Flanagan vs Zepeda is live and exclusive from 7pm this Saturday night on BoxNation (Sky437/490HD, Virgin 525, TalkTalk 415). Visit boxnation.com to subscribe.

Margate debutant Edward Leach pulls out of show with injury

Margate boxer, Edward Leach was all set to make his professional debut on July 11th at Medway Park in Gillingham on a Joe Elfidh Promotions show until injury struck just a few weeks before.

The 23-year-old super-featherweight prospect sustained a break in his right hand that subsequently ruined his chances of fighting in July.

“I damaged it a few months ago and kept training on it, thinking it’ll be ok,” said a deflated Edward Leach. “I had an x-ray and was told that it was all fine but then I got a call the next day and was told there was actually a crack in the lower part of my hand.”

He continued to explain, “I’ve got to go back in six weeks to see the consultant but I’m going to be able to carry on with strength and fitness training, just won’t be punching again until September.

“It’s disheartened me but that’s the joys of boxing and you have to get through things like this to get stronger, you go down in the dumps thinking it’s all over then you pick yourself up again.”

Leach was due to face travelling opponent, Robbie Forster (0-2) from Wales.

“I’m hoping to get the same opponent,” said Leach. “I’m sure the next show is planned for September time.”

The former England amateur is trained by his father, Neil and older brother, Ricky – also a professional boxer operating in the bantamweight division. The trio train together in the Isle of Thanet Boxing Club.

Leach boxed for England on several occasions in the amateurs, reached the semi-finals of the ABA’s and also won the HSK Box Cup in Denmark.

Newly-formed promotional outfit, JE Promotions is headed by former pro boxer, Joe Elfidh. Of his manager, Edward praised, “He’s the nicest geezer I’ve ever met, if I’ve got problems then he’s the man I come to, I couldn’t see myself with anyone else to be honest.”

The JE Promotions show proudly features eight boxers all from the county of Kent including a quartet of unbeaten prospects – Grant Dennis, Dave Jones, Ricky Rose and Oli Edwards.

Leach’s sparring partner, Chris Matthews becomes the only boxer to make his pro bow on the night. The featherweight from Maidstone takes on Lithuanian journeyman, Aivaras Balsys (1-16-2).

Light-heavyweight, Dan Woodgate (12-2) from Minster returns to the venue that paid witness to his failed Southern Area title bid in September 2013. The International Masters champion has only fought twice since and goes up against Lithuanian, Rolandas Cesna (3-26-2) over eight rounds in what will be his 15th professional contest.

Exciting super-middleweight, Grant Dennis (3-0) hasn’t conceded a single round yet and will be looking to extend his winning run against tough journeyman, Dee Mitchell (10-75-2).

33-year-old heavyweight, Dave Lee Jones (3-0) from Queenborough will be looking to extend his unbeaten streak against 35-year-old, Igoris Barucha (9-29-3). The Lithuanian’s last three fights have included a win, loss and draw but has yet to conquer a British boxer.

Sheerness 20-year-old middleweight boxer, Oli Edwards (1-0) will be looking to double his win tally against 29-year-old journeyman, Harjinder Gill (0-14-1).

Chatham light-middleweight Ricky Rose (2-0) gets a tough test on fight night against former English title challenger, Liam Richards (11-11). The 28-year-old travelling opponent from Wiltshire is vastly experienced having been involved in five title fights so far in his six year long career.

Lightweight boxer, Zeki Hussein (0-1) from Gillingham will be hunting for his first win after losing on his debut to Barnsley southpaw, Lee Gibbons (1-2) well over a year ago at London’s York Hall.

Light-heavyweight Haidar Sadik (0-6) from Rochester will be hunting for his first win in his seventh fight in the paid ranks as he goes up against seasoned veteran, Mitch Mitchell (6-39-2) over four rounds. ‘Mad Mitch’ will be confident coming into this bout off the back of a rare win.

Edward would like to thank his sponsors Pingala Media and Sheldons Public House and A.S.K Access Solutions Kent and PR Manager Tim Rickson

Maye questions Augustin's heart as they prep for July 17th rematch

LINCOLN, R.I. (July 10th, 2015) -- Solomon Maye doesn't just plan on beating Jean Pierre Augustin in their heavyweight rematch next Friday at Twin River Casino. He's hoping to force his opponent into a new line of work. "I don't think boxing is his sport," said the New Haven, Conn., native. "He's going to have to make a career decision on the 17th. "If he didn't change anything up from the last time - if he didn't grow a heart from the last fight - I don't think I've got anything to worry about." The four-round Maye-Augustin rematch is one of several regional rivalries on the undercard of "Rhode To Redemption," presented by CES Boxing on Friday, July 17th, 2015. The two fought to a majority draw in April, a verdict disputed by both sides. Augustin (4-0-1, 2 KOs), the Lawrence, Mass., native formerly trained by Vinny Paz, is confident the July 17th rematch will be a different story now that he's working exclusively with Rhode Island-based coach Victor Fagnant, who also trains unbeaten welterweight Nick DeLomba. "We're working on a lot of angles and footwork, incorporating different things into the game plan," Augustin said. "He's helped me improve a lot in this camp. "I'm going to be a lot more aggressive this time. I'm not going to allow him to dictate the pace. I'm not going to allow him to impose his will." Augustin will also enter this fight with far less pressure to perform. His previous relationship with Paz, which developed from Augustin playing a starring role in the upcoming Paz biopic, Bleed For This, caused a media frenzy in New England. Augustin spent a lot of hours during camp conducting interviews with various newspapers and television crews, many of them referring to him as Paz's protégé, big shoes to fill for a 29-year-old fighter who'd yet to debut in front of the New England fans. "It affected me a little bit," Augustin admits. "I'm not one to make excuses, but all the cameras and everything, coming from not doing interviews at all to being in the spotlight kind of took a mental toll on me. "I'm not sure it affected me once the bell rang. Solomon put on a tough performance. He came forward and did what he had to do. I just didn't prepare myself well enough." Maye applied pressure from the opening bell and the two found themselves entangled against the ropes early and often. As a result, Augustin fell through the ropes in the first, third and fourth rounds, four times over the course of the fight. Much like their opinion on the final outcome, the two also disagreed on who was to blame for the sloppy footing. "I wasn't having problems with my footwork. I have several legit photos of him throwing me down, holding and pushing," Augustin said. "You can see my hands flailing." "He was just scared," Maye countered. "When he saw me coming and applying pressure, he got scared. A lot of times, I didn't even touch him and he just fell through the ropes. "There were a couple of times he had me against the ropes, but I didn't fall through the ropes. It wasn't a balance issue. It was more of a scared issue." The debate will end next Friday when Augustin and Maye finally settle the score in what has become an intriguing heavyweight rematch. "I'm really confident. I mean, I respect him. I respect him for getting in the ring, but I know what I've trained to do and what I'm ready for," Maye said. "This is a big fight for me. As for the first fight, Maye said, "I think I won, although I could've done more to win that fight and I let him slide. I let him live. This fight right here, I'm just going to go in there and bang out and if he can't take it, he's definitely going to lose." Tickets for "Rhode To Redemption" are priced at $40.00, $100.00 and $125.00 (VIP) and available for purchase online at CES Boxing or Twin River Casino | Lincoln, Rhode Island, by phone at 401-724-2253/2254 or at the Twin River Players Club. All fights and fighters are subject to change. Super middleweight Vladine Biosse (15-6-2, 7 KOs), known in his hometown as "Mr. Providence," returns to Rhode Island for the first time in two years when he faces the hard-hitting Chris Chatman (12-5-1, 5 KOs) of Jersey City, N.J., in the 10-round main event. "Rhode To Redemption" also features a dynamic, six-round welterweight co-feature between undefeated Nick DeLomba (7-0, 1 KO) of Cranston, R.I., and southpaw Juan Rodriguez Jr. (12-2, 5 KOs) of Union City, N.J. The undercard features several regional rivalries, starting with a four-round junior middleweight bout between Joe Wilson Jr. (3-2) of Hartford, Conn., and Andy Gonzalez (1-0, 1 KO) of Worcester, Mass., while unbeaten Worcester, Mass., junior middleweight Khiary Gray (7-0, 5 KOs) also returns in a six-round bout.

Framingham, Mass., super lightweight Julio Perez makes his pro debut against Boston's Rafael Francis (0-4) and New Bedford, Mass., welterweight Scott Sullivan (1-1, 1 KO) returns to face Providence's Angel Valdez (0-2), both four-round bouts. Lawrence, Mass., lightweight Jacob Solis (1-0) will make his Twin River debut and fight for the first time since 2012 when he faces Salem, Mass., vet Matt Doherty (2-1, 2 KOs) in a four-round bout. Re: Welsh Boxing News - July Edition

Price in top shape for Euro challenge: ‘’I’m fired up and ready to go!

David Price (19-2, 16 KOs) is full of confidence ahead of his European title fight against the undefeated Erkan Teper (14-0, 9 KOs) on Friday, July 17 at the MHP Arena in Ludwigsburg, Germany.

The 6ft 8″ British heavyweight has recently enjoyed a good run of form, claiming four successive victories to earn himself a shot at the vacant European crown, and now, following the perfect training camp, the 2008 Olympic bronze medalist believes he is ready to bring the belt home.

‘’This has been the toughest training camp I’ve ever been involved in,’’ said Price. ‘’But that’s only right because this is the biggest fight of my career. You push your body to the limit and spend a lot of time tired and aching, but now, the hard work is done, and I can’t wait to get over there and take that title.

‘’I couldn’t be better prepared. I’m fired up and ready to go. All the hard work I‘ve done with Franny Smith and my strength and conditioning coach John Noonan has really paid off. It’s been the perfect camp. I’m injury free, I’ve been looking after myself, getting regular treatments and physio, and I honestly feel like I’m in the best shape of my life.

‘’I’ve had some great, competitive sparring. We brought over Agit Kabayel from Germany whose 11-0 and Bogdan Dinu from Romania whose 12-0, both undefeated prospects and both similar in size and style to Teper. It’s always difficult to exactly replicate your opponent, but we believe we’ve had the ideal sparring for this fight, so now, I’ve just got to get in there and do the business.

‘’This isn’t a fight where I’ve had to go looking for motivation. There is a massive carrot dangling in front of me. If I win this fight, not only am I European champion, but also back in contention for a shot at the world title. There’s no way I’m going to let this opportunity pass me by.

‘’I just need to stay calm and stick to the game plan. It’s a big occasion and a big fight for me, but emotionally I need to be cold. I need to keep a clear head and follow instructions. I’ve given 110 per cent in training and I’ll be giving 110 per cent in the ring, and I’m confident that will be enough to win me the belt.’’

Price’s European title challenge will be televised by BoxNation in the UK, live and exclusive on Sky 437/HD 490, Virgin 546 and Talk Talk 415. Subscribe at BoxNation | Watch the best live boxing on your TV or watch online at Livesport.tv and via iPhone, iPad or Android.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (July 9, 2015) – Former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., super bantamweight contender Alejandro “Cobrita” Gonzalez Jr. and heavyweight contender Chris “The Nightmare” Arreola participated in a media workout on Wednesday at Robert Garcia Boxing Academy in Riverside, Calif., prior to their upcoming fights on Premier Boxing Champions on CBS and SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING®. The fights will take place as part of an afternoon-night doubleheader on Saturday, July 18, at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas, live on CBS Sports (4 p.m. ET/ 1 p.m. PT) and SHOWTIME(10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT).

PBC on CBS will kick-off the action with a doubleheader featuring the U.S. debut of undefeated Irish champion Carl Frampton (20-0, 14 KOs), who will defend his IBF Junior Featherweight World Championship against Mexican contender Gonzalez Jr. (25-1-2, 15 KOs) in the 12-round main event. In the 8/10-round co-feature, heavyweight star Arreola(36-4, 31 KOs), of Los Angeles takes on Cameroonian heavyweight Frederic Kassi (18-3, 10 KOs).

In the main event of the SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXINGdoubleheader later that evening, Mexican superstar Chavez, Jr. (48-2-1, 32 KOs) meets fellow Mexican brawler Marcos Reyes (33-2, 24 KOs) in a 10-round super middleweight bout.

The 12-round co-main event will feature a pair of top bantamweights, as Puerto Rican Olympian McJoe Arroyo (16-0, 8 KOs) and Arthur Villanueva (27-0, 14 KOs), of the Philippines put their undefeated records on the line for the IBF Bantamweight World Championship.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is the first fighter to train at Robert Garcia’s new boxing academy in Riverside, which opened June 8. Garcia formerly trained all of his boxers at his well-known gym in Oxnard, Calif.

Julio Cesar Chavez, arguably the greatest Mexican fighter of all time, made an appearance during his son’s workout to show his support and offer words of encouragement.

Here’s what Chavez Jr., Gonzalez Jr., Arreola, Julio Cesar Chavez and Robert Garcia (Chavez Jr.’s trainer) had to say Wednesday at the Riverside gym:

JULIO CESAR CHAVEZ JR., Former World Champion

“I think Robert Garcia was the best option for me after my last fight. He speaks Spanish and knows the Mexican style. He has trained a lot of champions and I have a good connection with him.

“I missed the basics of boxing training for the last fight. Since I had such a long layoff, I needed to get back to the basics and I never did.

“I feel like I am in a good place right now. I am confident in my boxing ability because I know I am in the right condition. I sparred 10 rounds yesterday, this never happened in my last fight.

“I must win this fight and then everyone will see that I am capable of fighting the big names like [Gennady] Golovkin and [Carl] Froch.

“I must stay prepared and focus on my current opponent. He’s only 27 and has the ability.

“I learned a lot in my fight against [Andrzej] Fonfara. I really felt his punches, I became very tired. He taught me that I needed to spend more time in the gym and on my strategy. But I don’t think it was the wrong decision to fight him.

“I am currently training not just for my fight with [Marcos] Reyes, but also for a potential rematch with Fonfara.

“I feel like I need to have a dominant performance to show my fans what I am capable of. I must work my jab and use my defense.

“For this fight I will be at 168, but I am not sure what I will weigh for my fights in the future. I’m ready for less than 168 to face opponents like Canelo [Alvarez].”

ALEJANDRO GONZALEZ JR., Super Bantamweight Contender

“I have a big chance, a great opportunity. I am going to take advantage of it.

“For this fight we worked differently in training camp than all my other camps. I worked more on my defense, my attack and counter punches. Everything about this camp is different and focused solely on Frampton.

“It’s Frampton’s first time coming to the United States and he wants to be a superstar. But, in order to become a superstar he must first get by me.

“I know that he’s a great fighter with a lot of experience and a hard-hitting punch, but nothing that I can’t handle.

“I’m not going to be afraid of anyone. Even though this will be the biggest fight of my career. I won’t be nervous.

“Ever since my lone loss to [Juan Alberto] Rosas last year, I gained a lot of experience. I think I am ready for this test.

“He’s looking at me as the fighter who lost to Rosas, but I’m a different fighter now.”

CHRIS ARREOLA, Heavyweight Contender

“I expect to step in the ring in the high 240s. That’s about where I need to be. Just staying in shape and making sure I don’t balloon up like I have. My last fight when I weighed 263 I could easily cut weight to 255, but what for? I’m a big heavyweight. I messed up by overeating and it’s my fault. No one else to blame but me. I’m not going to cut any vanity weight. Why would I? I’m a heavyweight.

“I will never quit in a fight. Broken nose, broken ribs, broken whatever. You would have to kill me in the ring before I ever quit.

“I watched Kassi’s last fight. He’s a good mover and switches a lot. The main thing I’m going to have to do is catch him when he’s flinching, because he’s flinching out of nowhere.

“I’ve got to make a statement and I have to give myself a shot for a world title fight. Title shots don’t come around every day so when they do you got to take them.”

JULIO CESAR CHAVEZ

“Julio is more relaxed and confident in his training. It’s never too late to start over. I hope on Saturday that we will see a new Julio.

“The loss to Fonfara didn’t take him down, it woke him up. Now he must take a new path and win in a dominant fashion.

“I didn’t want him to take the fight with Fonfara because he wasn’t at the same weight and he was coming off a year of inactivity.

“I think that this is the right weight for Julio. He is taking on a challenger who trains well and is young. Julio has the essential qualities to step ahead and forge a new path.”

ROBERT GARCIA, Chavez Jr.s’ Trainer

“I think everything has come together so much easier than I expected. Julio is training every day, he’s sparring. He’s doing everything he has to do. It’s been easier than I ever expected.

“We start at 7:30 p.m. and we train till 11 p.m. sometimes. He’s training so much. He loves to train. Sometimes he goes in my swimming pool and swims for 15 or 20 minutes.

“Junior has his own style, and I’m not going to change that. I’m just correcting little things; making sure he doesn’t have his head in front of his opponent and letting them hit him like they did his last couple of fights. I want him to use the jab a little more and move side to side.

“I love it out here in Riverside. I own the whole property so my fighters all stay here. We have horses and it’s quiet. It’s just so different than Oxnard where 40 or 50 fighters could walk in at any time.”

Re: Welsh Boxing News - July Edition

Nurse: I want revenge on Ryan after beating Jenkins

Yorkshireman wants British belt to set up rematch

Tyrone Nurse says winning the British Welterweight title against Chris Jenkins on July 18 at the Manchester Arena live on Sky Sports would be a dream come true – and believes it would set up the rematch he craves against Dave Ryan.

Nurse and Jenkins lock horns for the vacant belt on a huge night of boxing in Manchester, and the 25 year old Huddersfield stylist believes their fight could be a show-stealer as both men desperately want to land the coveted British strap.

“Chris wants to win that British title as much as I do,” said Nurse. “I’m determined to take that home with me back to Yorkshire. You ask any British boxer at any level - it is the one belt we all dream of winning, it’s so nice looking.

“Chris is a very good fighter. He has a good left hook to the head and body that he uses very well. I think our styles will blend nicely, it could be the fight of the night.”

If Nurse can come out on top against the Welshman then a tasty rematch with old foe Dave Ryan would be on the cards.

Nurse and Ryan met in Leeds in October for the vacant Commonwealth title, with Nurse hitting the canvas twice early in the fight – crucial knockdowns as the judges’ scores were tallied with Ryan claiming the win on a split decision.

Ryan defended the Commonwealth belt in a helter-skelter clash with John-Wayne Hibbert at The O2 in May, with Hibbert on top in the first half, flooring Ryan in the third and fifth rounds, only for the Ryan to turn the fight on its head and stop the Essex man in the ninth – and Nurse knows a revenge mission could be his with a win over Jenkins.

“Ryan versus Hibbert – what a fight that was,” said Nurse. “I did want Dave to win it from the off but it was a real rollercoaster contest. After the two knockdowns from John-Wayne, you had to favour him – then Dave showed real grit to not only get back into the contest, but actually stop him.

“I have watched my fight with Dave quite a few times and on each occasion I see a different decision. I’ve had him winning it by a round, me by a round and an argument for it being a draw.

“I’m fully focussed on beating Chris and securing that British title, but I’d love to fight Dave again and I think plenty of people would want to see a rematch too.”

Nurse’s clash with Jenkins is part of a huge night of action in Manchester with two huge World title fights topping the bill as Scott Quigg defends his WBA World Super Bantamweight title against Kiko Martinez and Anthony Crolla challenges Darleys Perez for the WBA World Lightweight strap.

There’s another vacant British title on the line as big-hitters Sam Eggington and Glenn Foot tussle for the Welterweight belt with Eggington’s Commonwealth crown also on the line.

St. Helens’ Martin Murray boxes at Super Middleweight for the second time in quick succession as he targets some huge domestic battles at 168lbs, and there’s a host of young talent on display in unbeaten Gallagher’s gym duo Hosea Burton and Marcus Morrison, while there are outings for Prizefighter Lightweight champion Jono Carroll, former Team GB starlet Charlie Edwards, Sedgefield’s Jeff Saunders, Middleton’s Liam Taylor and Chapel-en-le-Firth’s Jack Massey.

Tickets are on sale priced £40, £60, £80, £100 and £150 through www.manchester-arena.com or by calling 0844 847 8000. VIP’s are available exclusively through www.matchroomboxing.com priced at £300.

Re: General Boxing (worth mentioning, not thread worthy)

Former junior middleweight titlist Carlos Molina (22-6-2, 6 KOs), 32, of Mexico, out of action since losing a unanimous decision and his belt to Cornelius "K9" Bundrage last October in Cancun, is scheduled to return in an eight-round bout against an opponent to be determined on Aug. 15 at the Bell Centre in Montreal. The fight is part of the Premier Boxing Champions card on NBC Sports Net, which is headlined by former super middleweight titlist Lucian Bute in a 171-pound fight against Andre Di Luisa. Molina, who lived for many years in Chicago, has not been allowed to fight in the United States for the past two years since he was arrested on an outstanding warrant, discovered to be in the U.S. illegally and deported to Mexico.

RJJ To Train Chudinov

Edit:

Former p4p king Roy Jones Jr. continues to fight as he pursues a cruiserweight world title shot, and he also has a gig as a ringside analyst for HBO. But he also continues to dabble in training fighters.

Jones’ latest pupil is secondary super middleweight titlist Fedor Chudinov, whom he is training for his first defense, which will come against England’s Frank Buglioni (17-1-1, 13 KOs), 26, on Sept. 26 at SSE Wembley Arena in London.

Jones spends a lot of time in Chudinov’s home country of Russia and also has a close relationship with Chudinov’s promoter, Vlad Hrunov.

“Fedor is doing great right now and we’re preparing to come over to England and win the world title,” Jones said. “Buglioni’s a very good and very smart fighter and Fedor has to learn that although Buglioni is taller than him, he has to make Buglioni reach down with his punches to bring him closer to him to unload his own punches. If Fedor stays high then it will be easier for Buglioni to reach him.”

Jones (62-8, 45 KOs), 46, is scheduled to fight in Liverpool, England, on Sept. 12 against 42-year-old Tony Moran (15-6, 5 KOs).

Mitchell Rose has quit the bar stool to train for a fight with Shannon Briggs. :)

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

--- Turned out that Mike Marone was the chosen one to be roasted over the Briggs fire at the touted Night of Heavyweight champs that included two dozen former and present heavy champs gathered for a photo op and other glitzy promotional stuff so Mike Weaver, Leon, Witherspoon, Big Dummy and the like could make autograph money.

Never seen a single photo save a youtube clip of a make up artist trying to pretty up Big Dummy. What happened, did the welfare projects not get their plane fare, hotels, and stipends? Very odd silence...

Finally we'll get to see how good Shingo Wake is

Shingo Wake Vs Jonathan Guzman confirmed for July 20th!

Last week we reported that ticket website Pia has leaked the ticket information regarding the IBF Super Bantamweight title fight between between Japanese slickster Shingo Wake (20-4-2, 12) [和氣 慎吾] and Dominican power puncher Jonathan Guzman (21-0-0-1, 21). Pia had released tickets for the bout with a date of July 20th, and had also revealed a WBA Flyweight title fgight between Kazuto Ioka (19-1, 11) [井岡一翔] and once beaten Nicaraguan challenger Keyvin Lara (18-1-1, 6), and although their had been some denials from Wake's team about the date it did seem like the bout was a done deal.

Today that IBF title bout was officially announced, with the announcement confirming the Pia leak, and confirming the world title double header.

----------------------------

Wake has won his last ten and has been waiting for a title-shot. Some say he's been avoided. Can't see much on his record but Jonathan Guzman should provide the answers to how good Wake actually is.

Baranchyk-Cruz battle of unbeatens headlines Saturday in Miami, OK

Miami, OK (June 24, 2016) – Junior welterweight powerhouse Ivan “The Beast” Baranchyk puts his perfect record on the line when he faces fellow unbeaten Eliseo Cruz Saturday, June 25 at the Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, OK.

Raised in Russia, Baranchyk now fights out of Brooklyn, NY and has an outstanding 10-0 professional ledger with 9 wins by knockout. On March 5, Baranchyk sent shockwaves through the boxing world by brutally knocking out unbeaten Nicholas Givhan (16-0-1) in 21 seconds on ShoBox at the Buffalo Run Casino. Prior to that, Baranchyk needed just 2:38 to demolished undefeated Sadhi Shawareb (9-0-2).

Living and fighting out of Chipas, Mexico, Cruz is 9-0-1 with 6 victories via knockout. In December 2015, Cruz scored an eighth round knockout of Luis Zambrano. His bout against Baranchayk will be Cruz’ fifth scheduled for eight rounds or more.

The “somebody’s 0 must go” fight between Baranchyk and Cruz is scheduled for 8 rounds.

Popular 147 pound prospect Jesse Cook of Seneca, MO battles cement-fisted Bulmaro Solis in the six round co-feature. A member of Holden Productions’ “Four State Franchise,” Cook is 16-1-1 with 11 victories by knockout. Solis, who hails from Kansas City, MO, scored knockouts in each of his 12 wins and only has 2 defeats.

Heavyweight Kenzie Witt-Morrison puts his 8-0-1 record on the line against fellow unbeaten Robby Mendez, 2-0, of Topeka, KS in a six rounder. The son of late Tommy Morrison and step brother of rising prospect Trey Lippe-Morrison, Witt-Morrison is a member of the “Four State Franchise” and continues to improve every time out.

Bartlesville, OK’s Jarrett “Legacy” Rouse, 9-0 (4 KO’s), meets Wichita, KS based Noel Esqueda, 6-3-1 (4 KO’s), in a six round welterweight tilt. Like Cook and Witt Morrison, Rose is a member of the “Four State Franchise” and fought seven of his matches at the Buffalo Run. Esqueda, who has only been defeated by unbeaten opponents, scored a first round knockout last November.

2012 Azerbajani Olympian Gaybatulla Gadzhialiyev makes his pro debut against Whichita, KS’ Brandon Phillips, 1-0, and Hurshidbek Normatov of Uzbekistan enters the ring for the first time as a professional versus Ramon Barber, 6-10 (5 KO’s), also of Wichita, KS.
