Re: General Boxing (worth mentioning, not thread worthy)

Uploaded a couple of fights to my Youtube page: Tommy Farr vs Joe Louis, Matthyssee vs Molina and Porter vs Malignaggi. Changed the descriptions to stop them getting pulled down: https://www.youtube.com/user/Robtaff/videos

--- Yeah, the Farr fight a great one.

Louis typically a slow starter was clinching early to shut down Farr, but when Louis let loose, wow, that technique and relaxed power seems a lost art. Farr must be one of the tougher customers in the history of the sport to take those shots and he was quick in for his own shots that Louis could do little to stop. That would've been a cruiser fight today as early in his career Joe would've whooped every modern cruiser who ever lived before Joe filled out.

[h=3]Kameda signs with Haymon[/h]http://static.boxrec.com/wiki/thumb/0/00/Tomoki_Kameda.jpg/250px-Tomoki_Kameda.jpg

Bantamweight titlist Tomoki Kameda, who looked great in his one-punch body-shot knockout in the seventh round against Pungluang Sor Singyu on last week’s Canelo Alvarez-Erislandy Lara undercard in Las Vegas, has been ordered to make his mandatory defense.

Japan’s Kameda, who also signed this week with powerful adviser Al Haymon -- meaning we are likely to see him fighting regularly in the United States -- must next face mandatory challenger and interim titleholder Alejandro Hernandez. The WBO made the order on Tuesday. The sides have 30 days to make a deal or a purse bid will be ordered. Minimum bid is $100,000.

Kameda (30-0, 19 KOs), who turned 23 on the day of his fight last Saturday, has made two defenses. He is the latest addition to the growing Haymon stable that includes numerous top fighters, most notably Floyd Mayweather Jr., along with others such as Danny Garcia, Marcos Maidana, Adrian Broner, Shawn Porter, Keith Thurman, Lucas Matthysse, Amir Khan and dozens of others.

Hernandez (28-10-2, 15 KOs), 28, of Mexico, claimed the vacant interim belt via unanimous decision against Daniel Rosas on June 14. Hernandez scored a first-round knockdown and won on scores of 117-110, 116-111 and 114-113.

Re: General Boxing (worth mentioning, not thread worthy)

One of our Thai sources has informed us that Amnat Ruenroeng's (13-0, 5) upcoming IBF Flyweight world title defence against mandatory challenger McWilliams Arroyo (15-1, 13) has been pencilled in for September 14th and is expected to take place in Nakhon Ratchasima province, the same area that Ruenroeng won the title in.

The Thai, who won his word title back in January with a decision victory over Filipino veteran Rocky Fuentes, has already defended his belt once this year, defeating the previously unbeaten Kazuto Ioka in Ioka's native Japan. He'll now be hoping to celebrate a defence in front of his home fans as he takes on the Puerto Rican challenger who earned the right to fight Ruenroeng by knocking out Froilan Saludar just less than a month ago.

Whilst Arroyo was in action recently the September date gives him 3 months between his victory over Saludar and the scheduled date for this bout. For Ruenroeng the gap between fights will be a little more than 4 months and would likely leave him open, if he wins, to another fight early next year.

We know some fight fans have asked why Ruenroeng's team placed a purse bid of over $200,000. It appears that they were making such a huge bid to make sure they got home advantage. As we all know fighting in Thailand as a visitor is horrible due to the natural conditions. It's looks like the team have speculated in an attempt to accumulate and if Amnat wins they will be chasing a huge payday to have Amnat fight unbeaten Chinese fighter Zou Shiming (4-0, 1) in Macau. To the team it looks like the $200,000 is a gamble and if it pays off it will pay off massively for both Amnat and his backers.

I find it hilarious that Fat Dan reported that a DAY after I did

he has to wait till it goes official Scott...............we all "knew" it was happening but until Haymon published his press release = "rumours-is-rumours". If it had fell thru at the 11th hour you would have looked a chump but no one would have noticed [no disrespect intended] - Fat Dan cant afford to put himself in that situation............

Boxingscene ran with the Haymon story before I did and a number of the official channels in Japan followed through with it between myself and Fat Dan and had they screwed up people would have pointed fingers and laughed. For a man with his finger apparently on the pulse the fat git is useless for exclusives!

Re: General Boxing (worth mentioning, not thread worthy)

Sensational teenage prospect Kosei Tanaka (3-0, 1) had one question to answer before moving on to title fights. Did he have any power? Today he proved he did have power as he scored his first stoppage victory and blasted away OPBF #3 ranked Minimumweight Crison Omayao (16-8-2, 4) in just 115 seconds!

Omayao had been the debut opponent of Naoya Inoue and Inoue, a big Light Flyweight, took 4 rounds to stop Omayao and despite the fact he has been stopped in recent fights he has never been blown away like this. In fact his 26 fight career Omayao he had gone 12 rounds with WanhengMenayothin, 10 rounds with Yuki Chinen and 7 rounds with Yodmongkol Vos Saengthep.

Having answered questions about his power Tanaka took the next step in his career and called for a fight with OPBF Minimumweight champion Ryuji Hara. Having been ranked #2 by the OPBF and having just blown away the #3 ranked fighter we'd be shocked if the OPBF doesn't think about ordering this one as a mandatory.

If we did get Tanaka Vs Hara by the end of this year it'd be clear that Tanaka's intentions would be to win a world title next year. If he does this it shows his incredible ambition to prove himself as quickly as possible.

What happened with several writers leaving Maxboxing? Montoya and Kim have left.

--- Believe Montoya was the first alert to the USADA/Goldenboy/Floydy alleged collusion to bury Floydy's alleged postitive PED testing results that Hauser ended up running with.

Max Boxing - News - The PED Mess: Part One

Could be a powerful political payback, a power struggle/ simple falling out or better opportunities elsewhere. Floydy just got his Nevada promoter's licensed fast tracked in lightning speed on the first day with almost no background questions about his finances, criminal record, or alleged drug testing coverup.

I'd think you could eventually find out though with your "boxing insider" status...:smiley-signs121:

Re: General Boxing (worth mentioning, not thread worthy)

Ryota Murata added to September 5th card!

Just a few moments ago Teiken revealed the full details of the next bout of Olympic champion and Japanese superstarRyota Murata (4-0, 4). And those details were surprising to say the least.

It was widely anticipated that Murata would be next appearing on a Top Rank promoted card in October in Singapore. Instead however Murata's next fight will be in Japan and he will be fighting Mexican champion Adrian Luna Flores(17-2-1, 11) at the Yoyogi #2 Gymnasium, in Tokyo on September 5th with the bout to be scheduled for 10 rounds.

For those who have put 2 and 2 together you'd be right in assuming that that means Murata has now been added to theOhashi gym card headlined by the Flyweight super fighter between WBA champion Akira Yaegashi (20-3, 10) and the unbeaten Roman Gonzalez (39-0, 33). The same card on which WBC Light Flyweight champion Naoya Inoue (6-0, 5) will defend his belt against Samartlek Kokietgym (17-4, 5).

Interestingly this again sees Fuji TV linking up their two big name fighters in Murata and Inoue, who both have exclusive contracts with the channel. This will be the 3rd time the two have shared a TV broadcast together and the second time they've both been featured on the same actual card.

Re: General Boxing (worth mentioning, not thread worthy)

A few notes from the Top Rank stable:

http://thealtercation.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/logo_top_rank.png

• Lightweight super prospect Felix Verdejo, a 2012 Puerto Rican Olympian, and one of boxing's fastest-rising prospects, figures to get his stiffest test as a professional on Aug. 16 when he headlines a UniMas-televised card in Caguas, Puerto Rico against experienced Oscar Bravo of Chile.

Verdejo (13-0, 10 KOs) has been blitzing his opponents, knocking out three of his last four in the first round and the other in the third round. So Top Rank matchmaker Brad "Abdul" Goodman went with Bravo (21-5, 9 KOs) as his next opponent because although he lost to such notable opponents as Diego Magdaleno and Will Tomlinson, Bravo went the eight-round and 12-round distance with them. Bravo has never been stopped in his five defeats.

"We need the rounds [for Verdejo]," Top Rank vice president Carl Moretti said. "Oscar Bravo should provide eight highly competitive rounds."

• Moretti said Top Rank has signed 21-year-old junior welterweight prospect Mike Reed (10-0, 6 KOs) of Washington, D.C. Reed turned pro in early 2013 and caught Top Rank's eye when he won a shutout six-round decision against Alberto Morales on its June 14 card in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

"He has a solid amateur background and his hand speed travels faster than bad news," Moretti said. "He's only 21 and has a terrific following from the D.C. area. We look forward to building him and eventually having him featured in TV fights in Washington, D.C., which is a great fight town."

• Former unified lightweight titlist Juan Diaz (39-4, 19 KOs) returns to action to headline a "Solo Boxeo" card on Sept. 6 (UniMas) in Laredo, Texas. He'll go in a 10-rounder against an opponent to be determined. The fight will be Diaz's fifth since he ended a three-year retirement in April 2013.

• Assuming all goes well for 21-year-old junior welterweight prospect Jose Ramirez (10-0, 8 KOs) in his eight-rounder against Alfred Romero on the Aug. 2 Brandon Rios-Diego Chavez undercard in Las Vegas, he will be back to headline a "Solo Boxeo" card on Oct. 25 (UniMas) in his home region of Fresno, California. Ramirez, a 2012 U.S. Olympian, will face an opponent to be named in the eight-round main event.

Rios-Chaves in Jeopardy Due To Immigration Backlog

After weeks of grinding in training camp, Diego Chaves is ready for Brandon Rios. The battle for which he remains at the mercy of his opponent, however, is one that has put his August 2 fight in jeopardy.

A severe backlog in the United States Immigrations courts has resulted in the delay of nearly 400,000 visa applications. The issue, caused by a computer malfunction extending from earlier this year, has kept Chaves stuck in his native Argentina awaiting clearance to travel abroad to the United States, and specifically to Las Vegas, where the HBO-televised welterweight battle is scheduled to take place.

Similar issues resulted in the cancellation of an intended showcase appearance for unbeaten Ivan Morales last weekend in California. The younger brother of former four-division champ Erik Morales could not make it out of his native Mexico due to visa issues, resulting in his scheduled bout with Sergio Frias – which was to air live on Fox Sports 1 from Indio, California – being pulled from the card barely 24 hours before the opening bell.

Greater warning comes with this week’s show, giving event handlers enough time to prepare for the worst case scenario. Efforts seeking comment from Top Rank, Rios’ promoter were not yet returned, although sources have indicated that contingency plans are already being sought in the event Chaves is unable to arrive to the United States in time.

The welterweight bout is part of a split-site tripleheader. Rios-Chaves is scheduled to air from The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, along with a 140 lb. title fight between recently crowned titlist Jessie Vargas and unbeaten challenger Anton Novikov. On the other side of the United States, undefeated light heavyweight knockout artist Sergey Kovalev defends his alphabet title against light-hitting unbeaten Aussie contender Blake Caparello in Atlantic City, New Jersey in the evening’s headlining act.

Chaves (23-1-1, 19KOs) earned the respect of many stateside fans for a brave effort in an eventual knockout loss to Keith Thurman in a matchup of unbeaten welterweights last summer. Ten rounds of warfare thrilled the crowd in San Antonio, as Chaves fought on even terms for much of the bout was dropped in the 9th and 10th round en route to the lone loss of his career, which also came in just his second pro fight outside of his native Argentina.

That status threatens to remain true through this weekend should his visa issues not get cleared up in time.

Rios (31-2-1, 23KOs) hasn’t fought since a lopsided 12-round points loss to Manny Pacquiao last November. The former 135 lb. titlist hasn’t won since a 7th round stoppage of Mike Alvarado in their Oct. ’12 thriller, a bout many considered high among the list of the best fights that year. He has since lost two straight, including a points loss to Alvarado in their rematch last March, followed by the aforementioned defeat to Pacquiao.

The latter loss proved doubly damaging, as Rios was also popped for a banned substance during post-fight drug testing as conducted by Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency (VADA). The failed test resulted in a suspension that has kept the 28-year old on the sidelines through the first half of 2014 before entering training camp for this weekend’s ring return.

McWilliams Arroyo's mandatory shot at world titleholder Amnat Ruenroeng brought forward..................

Puerto Rican flyweight contender McWilliams Arroyo's mandatory shot at world titleholder Amnat Ruenroeng will come even sooner than he expected.

The fight, originally scheduled for Sept. 14 at the Liptapanlop Hall in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, will instead take place on Sept. 10 at the same venue, Arroyo promoter Peter Rivera of PR Best Boxing Promotions said on Thursday.

Rivera said that Ruenroeng promoter Jimmy's Boxing said that the reason for the change was due a television network conflict between the fight and 2014 Asian Games programming.

Arroyo (15-1, 13 KOs), 28, a 2008 Olympian and 2009 world amateur champion, knocked out Froilan Saludar in the second round of a title elimination fight to become Ruenroeng's mandatory challenger on June 19. Ruenroeng (13-0, 5 KOs), 34, also a 2008 Olympian, will be making his second title defense.

Re: General Boxing (worth mentioning, not thread worthy)

Earlier today Ohashi Gym tweeted the poster of their September 5th show and to be honest we like it.

The poster, which can be seen opposite, features the 4 big names from the show. Japanese unbeaten Olympic champion Ryota Murata (4-0, 4) is at the top, underneath him is rising sensation Naoya Inoue (6-0, 5) then we we get Akira Yaegashi (20-3, 10) and of course Roman Gonzalez (39-0, 33) at the bottom.

It appears that the poster has signalled that the shows official name will be "The Fight" which in all honesty sums up what the man event is. Even though it appears to follow a similar naming logic to a lot of Floyd Mayweather's bouts, such as "The One" and "The Moment" this one actually is relevant to the contest at hand and we really do expect Yaegashi Vs Gonzalez to be "The Fight".

In honesty apart from the name of the show the poster confirms what we already knew. It confirms that Fuji TV will be televising the action, something that was going to be the case with Inoue and Murata anyway, it also confirms the 3 major bouts and the the date and time.

What it adds however is an image and it's an image that we like and in fact we think we're going to see a lot of over the coming months.

We know we're not alone here but we are certainly looking forward to "The Fight", a fight that we think could be the FOTY.
