Artur Beterbiev is back June 4th in Montreal

World light heavyweight contender Artur Beterbiev returns to the ring Saturday night, June 7, to defend his World Boxing Organization (WBO) International and North American Boxing Association (NABA) title belts against Argentinian champion Ezequiel “El Olympico” Maderna in the 12-round main event at historic Bell Center in Montreal, Canada.

How do you rate Artur Beterbiev and can he rule the LH division?

Re: Finally Artur Beterbiev is back

Beterbiev should already look for a fight with the greats of the division. It would be fantastic to see Kovalev cross bombs or Stevenson.

It WILL be, down the road, no doubt!

But it WON"T be anytime soon. A huge puncher like Artur always has a chance against anyone, but he has shown pretty huge holes in his defense up to now, and both Kovalev & the rapist can pretty much ruin your night with one punch. That's a bad combination.

I want to see a complete Beterbiev against both of those guys, and I would HATE to see him lose a few fights before ever getting the chance. Therefore, IMO he needs 3-4 more development fights, and against highly-skilled but not too powerful opponents. Let's see if his time off has been used to hone his defensive skills, and without much danger of being KO'd himself.

Give him a chance to humiliate Stevenson in about a year. THEN feed him to Sergey, sit back, and make some popcorn.

Re: Finally Artur Beterbiev is back

After this unknown guy he's fighting in June, if he looks really good, Artur will probably face one of the highly-ranked guys that have no business being there, like Sean Moneghan, Felix Valera, or Elieder Alvarez. (How DA FUCK are these guys in the top 5?) Actually, Valera is about to be fed to Dimity Bivol, so that's the end of HIM. (Bivol will quite possibly kill him. Literally KILL him.) Alvarez would be my pick because he at least has a couple of wins over recognizable names, and is (I suppose) a legitimate top-ten fighter. Monaghan would be a complete waste of time, like AJ fighting Martin.

I think Fonfara would be the perfect next (third) opponent.

Fonfara is still ranked very high by several organizations (slightly higher than Artur.) Fonfara has lots of high level experience, fan recognition, and yet is not too heavy-handed. Fonfara is also pretty skilled. He's exactly the right guy to test Beterbiev's defense, without too much danger.

If Artur can beat both Alvarez & Fonfara, (and especially if he can win a DECISION against Fonfara, and look good for 12 rounds in the process,) then he will have finally arrived on the big stage.

Maybe Ward after that, who would have by then probably lost to Sergey and would be desperate for a big name fight.

Looking forward to see Artur Beterbiev Beterbiev back in the ring hoping that we can see him into a major fight before this year ends.

Just Curious to see how he looks after the surgery.

Re: Finally Artur Beterbiev is back

There is another Chechen light heavy prospect who fights this weekend. Umar Salamov, 20 years, stands 6'4, with a record of 15-0 with 12 ko's.

Oh Lordy, YES!

Salamov could be the next Kovalev.

6’ 3” - Long arms and incredible hand speed. Great balance & footwork, aggressive as heck.

What's not to love?
