Hisashi Amagasa to face Josh Warrington!

Earlier today saw an interesting announcement made in the UK regarding former world title challenger Hisashi Amagasa (30-5-2, 20) [天笠 尚], who we now know will return to the ring on April 16th in the UK as he travels to Leeds to face the hugely popular Josh Warrington (22-0, 4) in a bout for the WBC International Featherweight title.

The teak tough Amagasa is a former Japanese and OPBF Featherweight champion who has scored notable wins over the likes of Toru Suzuku, Takuya Watnabe, Ryol Li Lee, Vinvin Rufino and Ryo Takenaka. Despite those wins he is actually much better known for a loss, which came at the end of 2014 against Guillermo Rigondeaux, with Amagasa dropping to Super Bantamweight for that bout and twice dropping the Cuban before being stopped with some grotesque swelling around his face.

Since that loss Amagasa has bounced back with a pair of wins, outpointing Patomsith Pathompothong and stopping Nathan Bolcio, and has indicated that he'd love a fight with Welshman Lee Selby, the current IBF Featherweight champion. A win over Warrington would see him take a huge step towards that bout and let him get used to British conditions.

I’ve seen Warrington fight twice in person. His hand speed is incredible and has amazing footwork. Can really use the ring too. This is by far his most dangerous fight, points win followed by Selby in June
