Promoter Bob Arum told reporters in the Philippines on Monday that Floyd Mayweather Jr. asked for $100 million to fight Manny Pacquiao. He also ripped Nonito Donaire.

Promoter Bob Arum told reporters in the Philippines on Monday that Floyd Mayweather Jr. asked for $100 million to fight Manny Pacquiao, effectively pricing himself out of the megafight.

Arum and fellow promoter Don King reportedly had a private negotiation in an effort to make the fight. South Africa was rumored to a possible site.

"Some group came in wanting to put it in a particular country," Arum told the reporters. "And Mayweather asked for a number so high that he indicated he didnt' want the fight. Take a guess what number he asked for himself … 100 million … for himself. Who will pay him 100 million? I mean, unless Manny fights for nothing, how do you do that? ..." Arum told the reporters.

"(Mayweather) can't say no, he doesn't want to fight him, so he prices himself out."

Meanwhile, Arum said that bantamweight titleholder Nonito Donaire doesn’t generate much money and even took a shot at the fighter’s wife, Rachel.

Donaire left Arum’s promotional firm and signed with rival Golden Boy Promotions. Arum says he has a valid contract with Donaire and vowed to fight the move in court.

He wouldn’t discuss the case but ripped Donaire and his wife, who apparently made a comment at some point about the way Manny Pacquiao’s wife dresses.

"It's not like he's another Manny Pacquiao,” said Arum, referring to his star. “He's a bantamweight, and he wants to go up (in weight), and I've got four fighters who probably could beat him: (Juan Manuel) Lopez, (Yuriorkis) Gamboa, (Guillermo) Rigondeaux, (Wilfredo) Vasquez Jr. ... He'd never beat those guys, or he'd never beat all of them.”

He went on: "(Pacquiao) is where the real money is. With Nonito Donaire, you get a rights fee from television. He's not a pay-per-view fighter. We had him on pay-per-view and did no buys. The Filipinos don't support him. Truth, when he fought (Fernando) Montiel, it was all Mexicans. There were hardly any Filipinos because he hasn't connected with them, and I think it's largely because of (his wife).

"I think the Filipinos can't stand her. I mean, how dare she criticize the way Jinkee dresses. Is she crazy? (Rachel) is all tarted up. Jinkee dresses like a lady. Facts are facts."

Mayweather Jr v's Pacquiao would be a massive fight, but the figure of 100 million is more like the gross, rather than what Mayweather could expect! If true, then it is as good as turning the fight down, but this sort of banter will rumble on until the two meet.

He's entitled to ask, and if they hold it in somewhere liken a Vegas casino they could gwenerate millions in site fees, plus PPV around the world, plus live gate. Or they could do like Zaire did for Ali-foreman, where a country paid a vast amount of money for the privelege of holding the fight there.

He's entitled to ask for any figure he can think of, same as the blood testing - doesn't mean he's likely to get it. That's assuming he ever did ask for anything of the sort, and if he did, why did Don King even bother to relay the message? And why is Arum prepared to reveal that King was involved, that they had a private meeting, that Mayweather asked for 100 million, but not which country was asking to host it? If it were somewhere like Saudi, I think I'd ask for 100 million.

THey could. We are all salivating for the fight and it would make huge numbers.

There is absolutely no reason why it can't happen. Mayweather loves his ego more than he loves his money and since he is so scared then we may never see the fight.

Mayweather Sr's come out and said that somebody has been whispering stupid things in his ear for Floyd to say such a thing.

Floyd's a walking contradiction, first he says he wants Pac to take the tests because it's about legacy. When Pac agrees to the tests, he asks for 100 mill.

In years to come, people will wise up to the real motive of why Floyd asks for random testing.

Wake me up if it ever gets beyond the tiresome verbal pissing contest. I thought it interesting that Mayweather was showing pictures of his winning bet slip and bragging about making $37,000 on the Chicago Bulls game, since it's not really been all that long ago that Floyd wanted us to believe he was on his way to becoming a Billionaire and would wipe his you know what with chump change like that. Of course, we never see the LOSING betting slips, do we?

So just for the record lets get this straight.

People on Budweiser Boxing Forum, would rather give credibility to a lowlife sub human piece of less than parasitical dogshit like the filthy Bob Arum, than a guy who actually gets in the ring and fights, no matter how dislikable he may be?

Interesting, to say the least.

they both are not credible. McBride, with no fighting going on, and when the gloves come off, the running of the head commences.

what will we do with nothing to talk about?

Have you something interesting to discuss or share?

McBride, neither of the pair of them have any sort of credibility.

They both speak mince on a regular basis, neither one any more than the other....

Just because a guy gets in the ring and fights, doesn't mean his words have any more truth than the next guys...

The fact is, that the fight hasn't been signed.

There only seems to be a problem on one side.

That's all I see, and I don't care about the reasoning behind it.

Whether he's asking for $1m or a castle filled with a hundred virgins...I only see excuses.

It doesn't matter what Arum says. Chances are whether there's any element of truth in it or not, there's always a 99% likelihood that any statement by him is twisted or false, so it can only be taken with a pinch of salt anyway...

Words don't change the cold hard fact that he won't sign the fight, for whatever reason.
