Khan says he's not chinny!

AHEAD of his WBA light-welterweight title defence against Marcos Maidana, the biggest puncher he has faced since Bredis Prescott knocked him out in 2008, Amir Khan has hit out once and for all at the question-marks regarding his chin. Khan, who meets Maidana on December 11 in Las Vegas, insists any vulnerability in the past was caused by the struggle to make the 9st 9lbs lightweight limit and has some interesting evidence to support his claim.

“I’ve taken Manny Pacquiao’s hardest shot in sparring when he weighed 152lbs and he’s not put me down,” Khan bragged. “He caught me a lot of times with big shots and didn’t put me down. I’ve been hit by middleweights and never been put down in sparring. It was only when I was killing myself making weight. I make the weight easier now, I’m a lot stronger and I feel like I can stand in front of any shot.

“I used to kill myself to make weight. I’d be on a strict diet. I’d wear a sweatsuit at night-time, do a five-mile run, come home, have a shower, not have nothing to drink before going to bed. I used to do that for five days on the trot. I’d get up, have half a glass of water and go to the gym again, wearing a sweatsuit. Now, training in LA, we do everything so professionally. Making the weight used to be one fight for me. Who knows what would have happened in the Prescott fight if I hadn’t had to make weight?”

Until signing for the Maidana fight, Khan has faced criticism for supposedly avoiding powerful opponents. He hits back by saying he actively sought to pit his skills against the Argentine’s brute force.

“I’m not being forced into this fight, I forced myself into this fight,” he declared. “But after I beat Maidana, people will say we knew you were going to beat him, it was an easy fight. You can’t win – criticism is always going to be there.”

Khan said that Richard Schaefer, head of his promoter Golden Boy, had told him it did not look like rival champions Timothy Bradley (WBO) and Devon Alexander (WBC and IBF) would be meeting anytime soon. Luckily, Khan has a Plan B.

“If it comes down to it and I have to fight each of them I’ll do that,” he vowed. “I want to fight the best in the division and my plan is to beat Maidana and if the other two don’t fight each other, I’ll fight one of them."

If Manny really let rip on Khan's chin, Amir would need the services of an undertaker. Limond can knock down Khan but Pacquiao can't? Yeah, right, dream on Amir.

I hadn't really took notice before, but it seems Khan got shook up by the first jab that Prescott landed.

Getting sparked out inside of one minute at this level is a clear sign of a glass jaw.

This is the latest photo of Khan.....

Probably one of the many dirty lewd images he sent that girl on his phone.

I hope to god Freddie has done some serious work on Khan's defence as I seriously doubt he'll still be standing if one of Maidana's bombs lands flush on his whiskers.

Maybe he can take a shot better than he used - but until we see evidence of it, he'll always be known as a chinny fighter

I think Roach will have him use alot of the in-and-out movement that he used so successfully against Kotelnik.Kotelnik isn't a puncher, and Khan took no chances or risks against him.Maidana is also easy to hit while Kotelnik has that high guard.

If he was doing what he said to make the weight then that would have taken a lot out of him, but he's not a Eubank et al, and if a decent punch connects there is a good chance he would go down. However, the same could be said for Lennox Lewis who suffered a couple of KOs and assorted 'wobbles'. Khan can box, and if he takes a leaf from Lewis' book, could go a long way (assuming he does keep his hands up and chin down).

It's possible that draining yourself could limit your resistance to punches, but not to the extent of getting sparked out inside of one minute.I've read and heard many who said he was an accident waiting to happen and that it was only a matter of time before he would get knocked out even before the Prescott fight .

In fairness to him,he's alot more controlled and has really tightened up on his defense since then.

I read that he said making weight at Lightweight was a problem and now he's alot stronger. But earlier on in his career he had a fight at Jnr. Welterweight and was floored (though ref ruled no knockdown)

I think most agree he hasn't got the best chin in the World but there are weights around it with movement and defence. Flloyd Paterson is a good example and maybe the Heavyweight version of Khan.

Patterson was stopped 5 times in 64 fights...when you consider they were by:

Liston (twice)

Ali (twice)

Ingemar Johansson

He went down easy but he also got up, not left glazey eyed and unconcious by bums...

Three world champions, not average nobodies like Prescott. 4 of the stoppages were in World title fights against bigger men...not smaller men...
