grapevine241 Posted March 16, 2011 Share Posted March 16, 2011 Sergio Martinez's Trainer Arrested, Being Extradited By Miguel Rivera, BoxingScene.com (3/16/2011) This past Saturday at Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Mashantucket, middleweight champion Sergio Martinez knocked out Sergiy Dzinziruk in eight rounds to retain his crown. He secured the impressive win without his trainer, Gabriel Sarmiento. Martinez was instead handled by Sarmiento's brother, Pablo. No reason was provided for Sarmiento's absence, but BoxingScene.com has received information from INTERPOL (International Criminal Police Organization) that Sarmiento was arrested on March 4th by the U.S. Marshals Service. Sarmiento is wanted in his native Spain for aggravated battery. Sarmineto was unable to work the corner of Martinez because he is currently being held in Los Angeles pending extradition to Spain. Embarrassing enough to think in this manner but with all of Sergio's humanitarian efforts with battered and abused women..., I hope it wasn't a women he's accused of hitting? boxing// If interpol has chased him down, he must have did a number on someone! londoner Posted March 16, 2011 Share Posted March 16, 2011 I wonder what will happen next? Does Martinez wait for the outcome or does he get a new trainer in the meantime?
