Joel Casamayor made a successful return to the ring after an absence of more than 14 months with a points victory over Jason Davis.

The former world champion, who has won world titles at super-featherweight and lightweight, won seven of the eight rounds on all three judges' cards in his first fight since losing to Juan Manuel Marquez last year.

The 38-year-old, tipping the scales at a career-heavy 146lbs, paced himself through the first half of the fight before stepping up the pace in the fifth, dominating thereafter.

"I was turning it on in the sixth and getting my rhythm," said the Cuban. "It's better than a first-round knockout.

"I felt real good. I haven't fought in a year. I'm an old school fighter and ready for anyone."

Meanwhile, another welterweight on the comeback trail was Zab Judah, who scored a second round stoppage victory over Ubaldo Hernandez on the same bill at Palms Casino in Las vegas.

The three-time world champion has been in with the best but claimed to be at his peak on his return from a 12-month sabbatical, flooring Hernandez twice in the opening round before ending it early in the next with a fierce body shot.

"I trained hard for this fight and I'm on the road to redemption," said the 32-year-old. "It wasn't much of a fight, but I trained very hard and was in the best shape of my life."
