  1. Re: Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury (may contain SPOILERS) Depends on if Fury comes back fit (or at all). Thought Joshua fought smart last night and outworked Parker who was a bit of a plodder to be fair, Fury won't come in straight lines, nor will he sit there and be hit, he'll use the whole ring to stay out of the way and as we saw against Wlad he's got no problem with smashing a couple of shots in and keeping his opponent away to spoil to victory (not really spoil as he's good at what he does but some don't like it). Josh needs to be faster and show a lot more ring nous to cope with him and imo still needs better tests before he takes him on.
  2. Re: Alexander Povetkin vs David Price result [spoilerS] You've got a good point there bud and to be fair to the ref it's easy to look at it with hindsight (and multiple replays) to see Price was out on his feet. As for Price i think it was a last gasp effort to try and grasp the glory that was being pitched to him from his first 10 or whatever fights. Pov won't have gained anything from that really (wow you beat a british level fighter congrats *slow clap*) but Price and his team banked everything on it. In my opinion (as fuzzy as i am right now) Price needs to bow out now, there's no shame in what he's done and whilst he might not be known as a world champion he did give us some exciting fights and he's got balls of steel to keep getting through them ropes. On another note i think it says a lot about boxing that we were talking him up as a world champion not so long ago to have him fail at doing that so utterly, too much focusing on a zero and not making competitive fights left him massively short when he had to step up in quality.
  3. Re: Deontay Wilder declares he wants a body on his record - again I just can't buy into the Wilder hype, he's like the American Price and i think he knows it which is why he seems to avoid the bigger names. Seen a lot this morning on social media about how he'd beat Joshua but i can't see it, he's a big man with a punch and that's it. Joshua is never going to be the next Rigo but he does seem to have the punch and at least the fundamentals.
  4. Re: Alexander Povetkin vs David Price result [spoilerS] Think it's got to be the end for Price now, doesn't have the chin for world level and isn't skillful enough to make his other attributes count. He did well for the 5 rounds but that KO was brutal and considering the ref was the same guy that stopped FrochGroves 1, don't understand why he didn't jump in as soon as Price's hands dropped. Seems like a really nice fella so hope he can make a career as an analyst or something.
  5. Re: Tyson Fury being treated unfairly or Warren just after money? Should be a longer ban for refusing to take a test, boxing needs to start standing up to crap like this and if it happens to the 'big' stars then it shows those lower down they won't get away with it
  6. Re: Do you think Howard Foster got hurt.. Thought Cortez's performance wasn't that bad, if memory serves (and i'm probably wrong) he did tell both fighters to carry on and Ortiz stuck his glove out, daft sod. Terry O Connor with Froch/Groves 1 was a bad one and potentially ruined a great comeback from Froch or a fantastic win by Groves.
  7. Re: Warrington turns down Selby fight - War of Words Didn't he leave Matchroom cause Eddie wouldn't put him forward to fight Selby? Think Josh should have taken it as it's a win win for him, anyone bar the rabidest of his fans must know he goes in as massive underdog to Selby (especially after Martinez) so if he loses, it's no surprise, if he wins then he becomes a megastar (maybe).
  8. Re: Hughie Fury set to challenge Joe Parker for WBO heavyweight crown F that, if I was Parker i'd be demanding it was in NZ again
  9. Re: Joshua vs Klitschko R by R I was discussing this with the missus last night and we both agreed it should have been a 10-9 so yeah i agree with you
  10. Re: Joshua vs Klitschko R by R Were those scorecards just rounds 1-11 or did they include 11? (sounds stupid i know) Terrible if it was 1-10 as Wlad had been the better of the 2 up until then and most (if not all) ringside had him up by 1 or 2. thought AJ did really well, shown he has a bit of a boxing brain and I thought he paced himself really well (granted the signal on ship was shite and i missed round 5, first half of 6 and first half of 11). He looked out of it in the 5th and to get up from that blistering knockdown shown real heart, he then took it easy (imo) for 2 rounds to get his strength and stamina back a bit before going in for the kill. Would be interesting to know what the corner said before the 11th as wonder if they had him behind??? Undercard was atrocious, Cordina's fight was a waste (thought his opponent was gonna do one before it started), Taylors fight was terrible as her opponent whilst clearly game could do nothing to keep KT off her so KT just had to slug away. (I'm a fan of womens boxing (my daughter does it) but there surely has to be better to showcase Taylor against). Missed most of Campbells fight but dno't think he'll trouble Linares at all (who looked really happy btw). Quigg looked like he was fighting against someone who he knew couldn't hurt him so kept on barrelling forward (once again missed the middle rounds though)
  11. Re: Big baby Kugan crying about "dwarf" Boente I'd be more wondering where his standing is with Eddie if he isn't at the fight at all, and really whats to stop him interviewing AJ later on ???? very strange
  12. Re: Use of Technology in boxing - Could this idea bring judges to account? that's bonkers that, some rounds should be even, makes for fairer and closer fights. The usual comments 'punches not landed/landed on arms/gloves' more power great defensive
  13. Re: ???? For Our Tech Wizzes/Josh vs Wlad A proxy would probably be your best bet, google's a good place to start orif there's any sites for you like hotukdeals they normal have free ones that give you a limited number of Gb to use (should be enough for the fight
  14. re: Joshua vs Klitschko R by R This is a fight I really don't mind paying for, it's massive and the undercards could turn out decent as well.
  15. Re: He's not here to start arguments gets his own thread now I'm not pointing blame at anyone Andy, I just think that it brings the whole place down and would be better to put him on ignore. I had the same issue with someone elsewhere and found the experience much more satisfying once I could no longer see his Manny loving, excuse making, plaster of paris excusing crap. (I actually started to dislike Pac cause of that one idiot) not worth wrecking yourself over it if you just can't get along.
