  1. Re: Jim Watt retires and about time! Spot on Rob....Watt was fine back in the day alongside legends like Reg Gutteridge and Ian Darke. He has had a great run and should of gone a few years ago and being alongside Halling hasn't helped.....rumour going round that Halling has been given the spanish archer (elbow) by sky we will soon find out Saturday!
  2. Re: Best one punch KO? Some good calls on this JMM v Pacquiao and Jackson v Herol Graham just because the fight was totally going Graham's way. From watching the fight live as a kid always remember Azumah Nelson v Pat Cowdell a nasty, nasty left uppercut 1st round ko both had just fought the great Salvador Sanchez, well worth a look on youtube for those younger fans that have never seen it.
  3. Re: Is Joshua vs Breazeale card PPV worthy? Lets put this into perspective PPV fights should regardless of the outcome at least be seen as 50-50 or at worst 60-40 on paper regardless of the outcome Joshua is not Mike Tyson (who lost to Douglas in a massive upset) and who people fascinated with the aura of the man or of course Ali who transcended the sport.... Joshua goes into Saturday's fight a BEST priced 1/16 on favourite and some bookmakers have him at 1/40 on if people are happy to pay the money to watch great but don't cry about how low the level of PPV could go. FW had Khan v Salita on PPV which to me was the worst PPV fight I can remember in the UK this isn't much better and for me only Groves v Murray is worth watching.
  4. re: George Groves vs Martin Murray - Predictions/Results Groves on points for me Murray is tough and durable but Groves is the superior fighter. Murray doesn't have the power to stop Groves but it should be a good fight. Groves blaming Paddy Fitzpatrick....? Well he took the cheap option in getting rid of Booth he should be blaming himself and that is the one big doubt I have with Groves his mentality.
  5. Re: Is Joshua vs Breazeale card PPV worthy? No customers pay a subscription fee to Sky anyway and this is another joke of a PPV card.
  6. Re: Nick Blackwell vs Chris Eubank Jr, who wins? Eubank Jr for me on points,he will be in for a test though. Nick Blackwell is a real credit to the sport, will fight anyone he seems to come on strong in fights the Ryder fight a great example. His record as well is misleading beat both Bursak and Khomitsky imo. The Bursak fight he got jobbed made a mess of his face and the Khomitsky fight was bizarre a six rounder when both are seasoned 10-12 round fighters. He won 4 rounds to 2 for me.
  7. Re: Dmitry Pirog comeback? Rob such a shame about his back injuries,he has tried to come back since 2012.Persistent issues, even if he does try to return injuries reoccurring with regards long term back problems never far away sadly. The Golovkin fight was going to happen and anyone that hasn't seen it the Jacobs fight worth a look. Pirog a real talent lost to injury.
  8. Re: British fighter of the year Flanagan has had a great year Degale,McDonnell and Fury also. 2015 has been a great year for British boxing.
  9. Re: European prospect of the year Beterbiev for me as listed then Bivol who looks a real talent.
  10. Re: European fighter of the Year DeGale for me two UD dominant wins away from home. Second would of been Jamie McDonnell also two great away wins against the touted Kameda but he is not listed.I know Rob rates him. Third Fury changing of the guard in the HW division.
  11. Re: [spoilers] Murray - Abraham post fight thoughts? I had AA winning 115-112. He overall did the more cleaner work.I was surprised one judge gave it to Murray tbh he gave a good effort but not enough to take a world title away in someone else's backyard.
  12. Re: Who wins between Anthony Joshua vs Dillian Whyte? It's been confirmed this afternoon as being on PPV. Dear oh dear, not surprised but a joke.
  13. Re: Who wins between Anthony Joshua vs Dillian Whyte? Joshua by KO the 3rd or 4th round for me.Whyte certainly isn't fazed by Joshua and gets under his skin, the bad blood between the two is genuine no doubt. The reason I pick Joshua is Whyte carries his hands far too low and he is aggressive and open. Will be interesting if Whyte catches Joshua early as both are heavy handed.
  14. Re: Are we seeing the beginning of a new golden era in British boxing? DeGale also put in a great performance away from home against Dirrell. We have always had fighters in and around the mix at world level through the late 70's when I started watching Boxing and before that. We are certainly starting to see some strength in most divisions, the lightweight division may be open worldwide but domestically so many good fighters.
  15. re: Lee Selby vs Fernando Montiel - Spoilers It is a fight that Selby has the opportunity to showcase his talents,I am certainly a fan of his and was pre Steven Smith he has a great skill set. If you are talking about the best technical fighters currently operating in the UK can't see many better than him, great talent imo.
