  1. Re: This was SO not a dive! Any of Ali Raymi's fights would fit in here
  2. Re: Murray AND Cleverly both rumoured to be off the Monaco show I don't know if Makabu is untested, he looked good against Kucher in a fight I thought he'd lose, really made a believer of me there, he can punch has good shot selection and commits to it well, quick reflexes, calm in the pocket with good foot and head movement and a brutal body puncher. I knew they'd pull out, it was a mad fight to take, especially for your first at cruiser. The Amman fight was the right sort of level for Clev to test the waters at. You're right though, his issue will be with making weight, as in actually coming in a decent size. It might not be a bad idea to just have a couple of journeyman/knockover jobs off TV whilst building up to a walk around weight of 200+ so he can train down to 200
  3. Re: Tyson & Hughie Fury sign deal with Frank/Boxnation ohhh got it
  4. Re: Tyson & Hughie Fury sign deal with Frank/Boxnation a year? eh? im lost
  5. Re: Tyson & Hughie Fury sign deal with Frank/Boxnation I think he's already world level tbh, its a shallow division, but it always is, people have nostalgia for heavyweights but its always been the weakest division but theres always 2 or 3 names at the top. He has Chisora, Johnson and Cunningham on his slate already and like I say is a 6'9 bloke who can fight nicely on the inside as well as use the jab. Outside Wlad, Pulev, Thompson, Stiverne maybe Chisora, is there anyone more accomplished or that you would confidently pick to beat him?
  6. Re: Tyson & Hughie Fury sign deal with Frank/Boxnation Usually i give the benefit of the doubt to relative novices but I should qualify this. This was him at international level as an amateur, being shaken by every right hand with amateur gloves and a headguard, now people do get stopped and it doesn't mean they have a bad chin, but hes been shaken and dropped against no-hopers as a pro and even in the 10 second clip of him and Haye sparring he gets wobbled, i'm no chin-checker by any stretch having a good chin is only part of being a good fighter, but he has no chin, none at heavyweight imo. People say he needs to be brought along slowly but this is honestly the most ridiculous career progression i've ever seen. The guy is a six year pro and Olympic medallist (even though he scored 0 in his semi-final IIRC?) and would you confidently pick any of his opponents to beat say, Ian Lewison? The reason he's being held back is the fact that rumours of him being sparked in sparring have followed his career, add to that in all his time as a pro he hasnt mastered the straight right, and GBP aren't stupid they know hes going nowhere, they're protecting him to cash out in a title fight. He's fit and in shape and can bang with quick hands so he'll always have a punchers chance but tbh after 30+ fights if we haven't seen technical improvements, are we ever going to?
  7. Re: Tyson & Hughie Fury sign deal with Frank/Boxnation You don't develop a chin when you take off headgear, hes still glassy and im still yet to see him develop technically, have you seen it? He's still tumbling down throwing wild shots and still cant throw a sharp straight right, hes got quick explosive hands but Del would roll inside that jab and rip him apart and Fury would just beat him to the punch and bully him inside. Deontay has enough power to stop anyone on any given day but i wouldnt back him because he doesnt have anything else yet. If he had it Golden Boy would have at least matched him with someone capable of winning the English title after nearly 6 years a pro
  8. Re: Tyson & Hughie Fury sign deal with Frank/Boxnation Nah Fury does some nice things, he can put nice combos together on the inside with nice bodywork, and can have an ok jab, hes also got a fighters instinct and can fight his way back into things when hurt. He's no Joe Louis but he's ok and got a couple of nice wins, there's probably a reason GBP have protected Wilder more than any other fighter (cant even call him a prospect any more the guys a 30 fight Olympic Medallist ffs and still hasn't fought anyone as good as John McDermott).
  9. Re: Tyson & Hughie Fury sign deal with Frank/Boxnation Definitely, there is a reason Wilder is so protected, the guy is packing serious glass and cant throw a straight punch to save his life. Here's one of many examples http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpWqvX3_PW4 Or there is video evidence of him struggling with Dustin Nicholls and falling to the ground in numerous fights by swinging like a pub drunk
  10. Re: Murray AND Cleverly both rumoured to be off the Monaco show someone on another site said he wasn't even training for this and had been on holiday, not sure how true that is, but if it is i wonder whats going on behind the scenes
  11. Re: Your 5 favourite active fighters? haha thought he'd split opinion. I also like the look of Makabu but want to see more of him, he looks a fun fighter, him vs Mchunu would be a nice fight down the line
  12. Re: Murray AND Cleverly both rumoured to be off the Monaco show Knew from the off no way would this fight happen, they obviously saw an African with a stoppage loss and thought it would be easy, then realised how good Makabu is and pulled out. Do wonder what the Murray thing is about though
  13. Re: Post your favourite boxing quotes "OH MY GAAWWWD!" - Emmanuel Steward (Berto-Ortiz)
  14. Re: Cuban amateur star shot Bought a ticket to watch this guy in the quarter finals of the Olympics as I wanted to see him medal because I thought he was going to be the next amateur star. I then had to watch him piss it away with no urgency when it seemed he was the far better fighter, it was like he was sparring, very strange
  15. Re: Your 5 favourite active fighters? For me it's probably: Froch GGG Matthysse Rigondeaux Lomachenko/Malignaggi Honourable mentions: Chisora, Fury, Macklin, Kovalev, Afolabi, Chambers and Maidana
