  1. Of course. It will be choreographed to make both men look good, without any danger of either man getting hurt. Floyd wrote the textbook on how to do it.
  2. Zhang threw even less punches against Parker than Wilder did. I smell a rat ..... AJ beat a guy who has virtually zero defense, a guy that actually looked like crap against Fury no matter what the promotors try to say. And the rest of the fights sucked even worse. What a great night of boxing .........
  3. ^ Absolutely ridiculous. Gives me a headache. But I'm glad promotors are at least trying to reach a new & younger audience.
  4. An excellent development. Bena is on another level, of course, but not at 175. Gvozdyk tough, strong, and not without skill. Bena had better not take him form granted. And if this is truly an eliminator for Beter-Bivol, then it's gonna' be some great fan-pleasing bouts ahead. Good for the sport overall. I don't even CARE about Canelo.
  5. I like the sound of THAT. Have they announced the full card yet? (I'm too busy / lazy to check right now.)
  6. roberto00.wordpress.com/2024/02/05/tyson-fury-quitting-his-scheduled-saudi-fight-against-oleksandr-usyk/ LOL ! Your personal bias is just a LITTLE bit obvious there, Bobby. Still articles like this might actually light a fire under Fury's butt, which would be a good thing, so keep it up !
  7. It wasn't? i figured the only way Ryder has a chance to be competitive was if he carried two hammers into the ring with him, AND paid off the judges. I sure hope we don't see Canelo - Munguia before Bena, though. Mung is tough, aggressive, and exciting, but kind of one-dimensional He only has one speed, and that's "brick on top of the accelerator pedal. Ryder didn't have the ring smarts to capitalize on that, but Canelo certainly does.
  8. That could be an omen. 😐 I'm also rooter for Artur, but I'm sure not putting money on him.
  9. Parker looks better than in recent years, (likely due to dumping the farce that is Kevin Barry) but he still didn't look anywhere elite against Wilder. Wilder simply fought horribly. Or rather, Wilder didn't even really fight. It was a joke. Zhang is actually UNDER-rated. He has excellent power and VERY good reflexes. He absolutely beat Hrgovic, and I won't even tolerate a discussion on that. The main issue is his age, but he doesn't move too much so that might be less of a factor than with most HW. It's a great matchup, but my bet is Zhang via KO.
  10. I think I'm going with Bivol on this one. His resume has plenty of impressive scalps, not just Canelo. But more importantly, he doesn't just beat his opponents, he completely dominates them, even the big punchers. Bivol is staggering hard to land a flush punch on. If you "only" lose to him 118-110, you did better than most. Beter still has it, and he's also tough as nails, but of course age is a factor. Bivol by UD.
  11. Come to think on it, In my memory, Beter in his prime was a come-forward stalker ala Golovkin, not a counterpuncher. I suspect this has been developed over time specifically to overcome the reach advantage of guys like Yarde and Smith: Force them to follow you and come forward, but at the angle you want, messing with their timing and balance. This would of course also work well against Bivol.
  12. Well that sure went as expected., though I thought Callum might do a little better before the inevitable end. Beter's defense is still as crisp as ever. Incredibly impressive. And he seems to get better with every fight at herding his opponent, yet doing it more by backing up than by forward - sideways movement. What a performance. I wonder if Bivol will try to stall?
  13. Love me some Callum, but bet the farm on Beter. Yeah he's getting old, but he's still got it. His style doesn't demand a young man's stamina. His reflexes are still good, and of course has has the hammer of the gods at his disposal. Inactivity is always a factor, but Smith has fought even less than Beter in the last 4 years. Beter didn't look his best against Yarde, but that was likely (in part) ring rust. Also, Yarde is a very dangerous puncher. Combine that with Beter maybe wanting to finally get a few decent rounds in, and he probably fought conservatively for a while, on purpose. Sure, they traded punches, but maybe that let Beter work on his oft-unneeded defense, and it's not like Yarde ever hit him with anything serious. And Beter certainly closed the show like always. Also, while I'm a big Smith fan (of course) we now know what happens when he finally faces a super-tough and relentless pressure fighter that has no intention of backing down or being bullied. Beter is basically Canelo with a bigger punch. This one won't go to the cards.
  14. Zhang has already be robbed once, and now he wants to fight AJ? What is he, nuts? It would have been interesting to get Zhang - Parker on this undercard. Wilder appears to be finished. I guess Parker will hide out for a while, waiting for his final big payday & not risking any interim loss.
