  1. Re: Official Chat Thread: Bermane Stiverne vs. Deontay Wilder prefight/postfight thre The only way Wilder wins is if he stays on the outside, uses his jab, and go to the cards where he'll obviously be the winner according to the judges. But, I believe Stiverne will hit Wilder with a couple of nice shots sometime within the 36 minutes and Wilder will be brutally knocked out. Wilder's power isn't as good as people think it is, Stiverne's chin and defense is better than what people think. Reality has set in for Wilder. This isn't a game - this isn't baseball or basketball - this is boxing. People get hurt and Wilder hasn't fought anybody to get him ready for this moment. Stiverne wins, and wins pretty easy KO6.
  2. Re: Trout to face Grajeda, eyes possible rematch with Lara Good for Austin Trout. He needs to continue to keep busy and keep sharp. Another feel good fight for him, but hopefully, things go smoother this go around.
  3. Re: Upset of the Year thus far? Maybe 'The Money Team' fighters can share the Upset of the Year honor. Badou Jack for getting iced in one round vs Derek Edwards and J'Leon Love for getting starched in three rounds vs Rogelio Medina.
  4. Re: Rios-Alvarado III could happen Dec. 20 - Do you want to see this? Eh, I'm not exactly jumping out of my boots to see this fight. The first fight was very fun, the second fight was meh, and with both fighters treading down there's not much at stake. Ideally, this fight would be the opening match of a tripleheader, but as a main event? Meh.
  5. Re: Bob Arum wants Chavez Jr to face Carl Froch It's not as if Andre Dirrell clearly beat Carl Froch and it was a massive robbery. It was a close fight and it went Froch's way, not a big deal. Anyway, Froch does deserve that big money fight in Vegas and hopefully it is against Chavez. Froch deserves a breather and Chavez deserves another beating.
  6. Re: Ruenroeng-Arroyo Scores were fine. As mentioned above, close, but clear in favor of Ruenroeng.
  7. Re: SPOILER: Golovkin/Geale Video + Jennings/Perez results Golovkin did what he had to do. Another nice win on his resume, but he still needs those elite wins in order for him to be a truly elite fighter. I believe he is and will be a top P4P fighter, he has the goods, he just needs to actually prove it against the top tier competition. He needs to continue to clean up the middleweight division by beating Cotto and Quillin (probably won't happen due to politics). All in all, another nice win for GGG. Geale gave it a go, showed some heart, wasn't beaten before Perez was very disappointing. Another fighter with a lot of talent, but due to a lack of dedication and conditioning he won't fulfill his potential. Bryant Jennings was okay. Nothing special, just a nice, solid fighter. Nothing more. I thought Harvey Dock overall did a pretty bad job overall. He let Perez jab and grab Jennings and drape all over him from round 3 to 12 and when Jennings would try and fight out of it, he wouldn't let them fight on the inside. Terrible job by Dock. Also, a disgraceful job by the timekeeper and cameraman. This is New York. This is supposed to be the Mecca of boxing and having a cameraman trip Geale is pretty fucking embarrassing and the timekeeper having round one go 4 minutes long is pretty fucking silly as well. Disgraceful job by New York, this is one of the bigger boxing commissions in the States and they did an embarrassing job. They should be ashamed of themselves.
  8. Re: Rios vs Chaves-your thoughts? I think it should be a Fight of the Year type fight. Neither fighter is going to back down and they are going to batter each other for however long this fight lasts. It's going to be a great fight I can't fight. One in which I think Rios is too big of a favorite. Chaves is bigger and probably does everything a little bit better than Rios (except for jab. Rios has an underrated and underutilized jab.) and I don't know if he'll win, but he's a good value play.
  9. Re: George Groves back in September, opponent announced I got no problems with the fight. Coming off a brutal KO like that he needs an opponent like this just to get back into the swing of things.
  10. Re: Rigo takes on Sod Kokietgym next month Nobody wants to show Rigondeaux and nobody wants to fight Rigondeaux so, why not?
  11. Re: Bob Arum: Cotto/Martinez PPVs Only 350K Love the fact Arm says the market is getting saturated with PPV's of late and people are tired of it...yet Cotto's next fight will be on PPV. Yeah, good call, that makes sense.
  12. Re: Donaire and Pacquiao not expected to share Macau on November 22nd Yep, makes sense. No reason to put both on one card when you can have them headline on two separate cards.
  13. Re: A Bright American Future................? In terms of talent and skill, Warren is probably the best. Also, shout out to "J-Rock" Julian Williams who has gotten better and better as his competition has gotten better.
  14. Re: 2013 Boxing Awards - Nominations - Part 1 Fighter of the Year: Juan Francisco Estrada (A major underdog versus P4P Brian Viloria, and he gave hime a beating. Then he took on undefeated Milan Melindo. A great bounce back year after losing to Roman Gonzalez the year before in a very competitive, entertaining fight.) Runner up: Akira Yaegashi (really tough call. There are a handful of fighters that could be considered Fighter of the Year. For me, Mikey Garcia would probably be 3rd. 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th would be Danny Garcia, Sergey Kovalev, Katsunari Takayama and Guillermo Rigondeaux.) Fight of the Year: Giovani Segura vs Hernan Marquez Runner up: Timothy Bradley vs Ruslan Provdnikov Round of the Year: Timothy Bradley vs Ruslan Provodnikov Round 6 Runner up: John Molina vs Mickey Bey Round 10 (It's not everyday where a fighter loses virtually every round only to come out with his hair on fire and get that KO in the final round.) Knockout of the Year: Yunieski Gonzalez vs Rowland Bryant Runner up: Stephen Smith vs Gary Buckland Upset of the Year: Simpiwe Vetyeka vs Chris John Runner up: Jhonny Gonzalez vs Abner Mares Worst Fight of the Year: Wladimir Klitschko vs Alexander Povetkin (given the amount of hype and what not...) Runner up: Manny Pacquiao vs Brandon Rios (Again, given the amount of hype. My expectations weren't high going into the fight and it didn't even meet my low expectations. A boring one-side. One fighter that didn't want to take chances and another that was just some goofy punching bag.) Prospect of the Year: Billy Joe Saunders Runner up: Felix Verdejo Robbery of the Year: Ricky Burns vs Raymundo Beltran Runner up: Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs Bryan Vera (Both were equally bad though. Definitely splitting hairs here...) Trainer of the Year: Joel Diaz Runner up: Joe Goossen Promoter of the Year: Golden Boy Promotions (I really enjoyed the mega cards Showtime/Golden Boy Promotions did this year.) Matchroom Sports
  15. Re: Does Groves stand a chance? :mlol:This ^. I would legitimately be surprised if this lasts more than 5 rounds. Froch is going to blast this kid's chin into the 10th row. Groves is going to realize he took a massive step up in class when Froch lands his first right hand flush on his face.
