  1. Re: New Moderator - Let me introduce myself. Well for starters Krav Maga isnt a martial art, although you are forgiven for that common misconception. It is a self defense system. It has no sporting or competitive element to it and as such isnt considered a martial art. I dont think it or martial arts could be harmful to a boxer other than injury risk of course. Other training can bring fitness benefits to your boxing,it can train your brain to think better about footwork and about defensive movement / positioning. This may sound silly but when you have been focusing on attacks coming from all body parts and angles, boxing sparring becomes easier when you only have to worry about two limbs :)
  2. Re: If you captured a terroist, what fighter would you make him watch for 5 hours? Johnny "ironic nickname" Nelson also gets my vote. Or any fight where Duke McKenzie is screaming "hes gone, his legs are gone" on repeat
  3. Re: Name some prospects that you were disappointed in... I think Price gets another chance in most peoples eyes. The biggest problem he has now is time, he started boxing late.
  4. Re: New Moderator - Let me introduce myself. Well folks I'm now also a Mod in this section. Although not always active I have been a member of Bud's forum then RN24 for years and before that I posted daily and was a mod on Boxing Banter (ah how I miss there). A lifelong fan I have been involved at boxing for 14 years at all aspects of the AMA game and have trained with the likes of Paul Appleby and Stephen Simmons before they turned pro. I also have studied Krav Maga and my gym work is mostly centered around strength these days so will be on the nutrition section too. Looking forward to being more active and keeping everyone in line :)
  5. Re: Name some prospects that you were disappointed in... Hate to say it but he was the name that sprang to mind too. I was at the same AMA gym with Paul and his brother David when they were kids. You could see they both had something about them and I followed his career with great interest. I do think he failed to live up to his potential, his head just wasnt in it at times.
  6. Re: Who are some of the biggest hitters today? Lets add to that with a nice easy GGG
  7. Re: Did he bite him? It looks enough for the ref to certainly take a point and I also dont blame him for calling it off. WC doesnt have a leg to stand on, no matter what he did do he was maneuvering his head / mouth into the neck area and if you put your self in silly situations you can be annoyed by someone else interpretation.
  8. Re: Tyson Fury on Joshua, Hearn, Price, Chisora, Briggs & Klitschko I'd love to see him fight Briggs. The Cannon would put him down with ease but only if he could land. Fury would have to box clever and I think this would tell us quite a lot about how intelligent of a fighter he could be.
  9. Re: What's Next for the Cobra? I think DeGale would be hard to sell, hes already twice beaten then man who has beaten DeGale. I just dont think DeGale has done enough to make this a big a show as Froch wants / needs / is used to. He doesnt have to fight him next anyway so I dont think he will.
  10. Re: Getting rid of the draw Wouldn't work with knock downs or point deductions.
  11. Re: Is The IBHOF Ready For Edwin Valero? Its a shame given his record but no I dont think he should be celebrated by the IBHOF
  12. Re: What's Next for the Cobra? GGG or the 3rd with Kessler for me.
  13. Re: Which fighter(s) were you wrong about? Alex Arthur - got his weight choices wrong, should have moved up sooner. I know he wanted to have a "proper" world title fight as he won his interim and then got instated as full champ but he knew he was killing himself. I was there when he fought Foster Jnr and he made a meal of that, he should have moved up after that fight. Carl Froch has surprised me - I knew he could bang, I knew he had a great chin but I thought more than one person would have exposed him by now with boxing skills. Fair play to the man, what a fighter.
  14. Re: Greatest wasted talents of today? Another plus one for Scott Harrison. Look at what he did when going off the rails, can you imagine how good he would have been had he been clean and kept fighting.
  15. Re: Your favorite journeyman ^ it does with 56 losses and only 2 of them are KOs Buckley gets my vote
