  1. Re: Tyson Fury: I was overweight and shagging myself silly The only entertaining and interesting thing about Fury is his mouth and personality as far as I'm concerned. As a fighter I don't think he'll go beyond contender status. He's a hell of a self-promoter to be fair, though.
  2. Re: Juan "Baby Bull" Diaz returns on April 13th I was under the impression that he owned (or at least was involved in) a fairly successful trucking company in his area. He's been doing this since he was a kid, so maybe he just missed being in the ring and actually competing.I do think that he retired at the perfect time myself.Nate Campbell took a piece of him and Marquez just took the rest of him in that great fight. And that high-volume, all-action style of fighting doesn't really translate well into a long career.
  3. Re: Wilder v Chisora March 16th? Compared to who Wilder has been fighting, I'd say he definitely is.And surely that should be three losses in his last five fights?
  4. Re: Peterson turned down Khan Judah was never that fundamentally sound a fighter in his prime, let alone the 33 year old that fought Matthysse.Peterson is by far a better inside fighter than both and Matthysse still hasn't been tested there.
  5. Re: The biggest shock of the weekend? I believe they threw a parade in Brooklyn for Malignaggi after he stopped that guy on the undercard of the first Pascal-Hopkins fight.Maybe they can do the same for this guy in his own hometown.
  6. Re: Wilder v Chisora March 16th? Wilder won't be fighting an opponent close to Chisora's level for about another two or three years.I don't understand why this guy gets as much attention as he does when he's showed no sign or willingness of stepping up and actually testing himself.
  7. Re: Broner does a Manny/JMM--Jumps 2 Divisions For Malignaggi WBA Belt What does it say of Malignaggi that a guy's willing to jump up two weight classes to fight him? I know Broner's big at his weight but still. He hasn't cleared out his own division and he's bypassing a far more stacked division in 140.....to fight a mediocre, feather-fisted boxer that's on the slide and who shouldn't have even won his last fight. It's not even an impressive win on paper.
  8. Re: Cloud v Hopkins result By Hopkins standards, that was a pretty good fight.I was worried that he was going to try and spoil his way to last the twelve rounds early on in the fight, but he really picked his spots well.A man of his age really doesn't have any business competing at that level at this stage, regardless of Cloud's limitations.
  9. Re: Bernard Hopkins, 48, breaks record as oldest world champion He's amazing. There's a lot to dislike about Hopkins, but a man that age that's still capable of competing and doing well at a world class level is someone to be admired.
  10. Re: Peterson turned down Khan He is absolutely better than Judah and Alexander.Peterson's a boxer, but he's also a versatile one that can also fight very well on the inside too.
  11. Re: March 8,1971 ; 42 years ago the greatest show on earth took place It's not like fighters weren't forced to retire due to eye trouble back then.Frazier's friend and stablemate, Gypsy Joe Harris, had to retire due to the loss of sight in one eye.And I remember Eddie Futch claiming that he knew nothing about Frazier's eye trouble when asked about it.
  12. Re: Burns dumps Warren. Vasquez fight off. The only downside to all these fighters leaving Warren is the future of Boxnation.
  13. Re: Scott harrison lined up for june ricky burns world title shot I dont think his manager has much confidence in Burns beating Broner to be honest. If this fight doesn't take place this years, Burns is going to look real, real bad.He doesn't look good right now for not having taken the fight already, though fighting a genuine threat like Vazquez - even if it has the potential to be boring as hell - is good enough for now.
  14. Re: JMMarquez Says NO to Fight 5 ^^^^^^^ This.Marquez has Arum by the balls and is trying to squeeze as much money as possible out of Top Rank for another fight.
  15. Re: Rahman Ali reveals family fued! Neither Foreman or Lyle had the level of conditioning to fight at that pace and reach the fifteenth round, never mind actually being able to put him down.Frazier was a genuine puncher too.
