littleman370
dunno what's so funny. i'm impressed that a fighter coming off a loss could find himself back as a top contender without fighting! think about how great rahman is!
davemurphy
Yeah, a guy named Powell from Fight Saga tipped me off last Thursday that Rahman was next up for the winner of Povetkin-Chagaev, but I held off saying anything because it seemed so preposterous and I was hoping saner heads would prevail..........unfortunately not ;) It looks as if the Single Punch on Lennox, the one that's kept the "former undisputed HW Champon of the World" in Business for the last 124 months, is still paying off. That is unless you think beating Clinton Bolderidge, Shannon Miller, Marcus McGhee, Damon Reed, and Galen Brown since losing to Wlad is a proper run up to a HW title challenge grin//

brooklynbrawler
The WBA are renowned for giving Don King fighters (I'm assuming he's still with King) opportunities for absolutely nothing, or less than nothing. How John Ruiz found his way to mandatory position umpteen times without even a solitary decent win in years, is beyond explanation... Rahman now mandatory though...I give up with them. They're obviously corrupt, and it's pretty unbelievable the mandatories they wheel out. An easy nights work for Povetkin anyway. The guy's got nothing left, and hasn't done for years. littleman370
guys don't forget povetkin has a chance to take an optional as well. since his mandatory with rahman is gonna be such a tough fight, word is (and i'm not joking) he's lined up evander holyfield
grapevine241
solution: all boxing journalists cease to recognize the WBA, just treat it as a fringe title like the IBO

iamasadlittleboy
solution: all boxing journalists cease to recognize the WBA, just treat it as a fringe title like the IBO How dare you take the IBO down to the levels of the WBA! The WBA are more on par with the WBF, Holyfield v Povetkin will be a unification of the two.
Skav
In fairness, the whole division is a joke so this isn't surprising to me.

davemurphy
The WBA is the oldest of the Orgs and it's kind of become the brainless old fool of the bunch. Who else would offer up something called a Regular Title?

Don't worry, Scott, unlike the proverbial dithering old Uncle that many of us have, Gilberto Mendoza and his band of Venezuelian theives know exactly what they're doing. Just amazing that anyone pays a sanctioning fee like Sauerland paid for Povetkin-Chagaev. Did even one person think that enhanced the matchup any? Other than Atlas, I mean mlol/
