littleman370
oh good, now warren has another top young star to put on an awesome card only to have the whole thing fall apart and end up fighting a fringe british-level opponent i wonder how long they will hold out for degale/groves 2. i guess if james picks up the euro title groves will want to fight for it, but it would seem too soon
iamasadlittleboy
Thats got to be it for Hayemaker...and good riddance.
Skav
I doubt that now we'll be seeing yet another match between Groves and DeGale for a very long time to come. I couldn't care less, their May match was dull after all the hoopla.
MacMagician
I was definitely surprised by this no doubt. Strange really seen as DeGale already got the euro shot with Warren, but I guess they have other irons in the fire with Groves linked to Golden Boy and all. Maybe Warren saw it as a way in with GBP?! WelshDevilRob
Good move by Warren. He was starting to seem like an also ran.
brooklynbrawler
I think that it's a good move to leave Hayemaker, as Haye doesn't offer anything anymore. It doesn't look like he'll fight again, so there's no chance of an undercard slot on a major show, and I think he's outgrown undercard status now anyway. Personally though, I feel Warren is going to use him as a way of redeeming De Gale's status, as he's put a lot of investment in there, and it will be a lot easier to force the rematch sooner, and I can see it happening in a couple of fights time after he's made them share the same bill and promote some more bad blood between them. Groves would have been better off with just about any other promoter.

How people can rave Warren is the best promoter is absolutely cack. John Murray's sky high rep is now in tatters after Gallagher took him over to FW believing he'd work this make-believe magic wand and turn Murray into the new Ricky Hatton. He looked bad against a bum then got knocked out. I think signing with FW made him feel like "i'm now going to be a superstar" and subsequently took his eye of the ball. Look at Frankie Gavin, Kell Brook etc etc - are they household names ? nope. Brooks finally building a name by fighting at home against people you've actually heard of, instead of total African chumps.... the same chumps that Ricky Burns is fighting one after another. Degale's exposure since he won the gold has gone down if anything. Nobody cares for any of the FW stable at all. Froch, Haye, Khan are all the public care for - and not any of FW's fighters. Purely because they fight utter shit. Nathan Clev is a nice guy, good skills and never actually fought anyone at all yet is a WBO paper champion. Next up he feasts on Bellew, who has fought err, nobody yet gets a world title shot ?! Degale fights for the Euro strap against errr.. nobody. Fact is, Warren's squad are less popular with the fans than Warren himself. the people's opinion of the following seems to be roughly as follows (not my opinion I add) Clev = Nice guy, shite record and appalling opposition. Paper champion. Burns = Nice guy, his fights are fixed in his favour. Shocking opposition. Paper champion. F.Gavin = People starting to think he's arrogant and not as good as he thinks. Poor opposition. T. Bellew = Definitely not as good as he thinks. Regular dropped by journeymen. A Clev fall guy. D. Chisora = Not a bad fighter, promotes himself a lot. Marmite. Degale = Not a bad fighter, not as good as his bum fights made him out to be. Largely despised and ridiculed as a twat. FW Promotions = lead by a bitter man, who stabs anyone not signed with him. People slag Hennessy, but even his Tyson Fury campaign has whipped anything Warren has done and he is better known than 90% of FW's stable easily. So if being well known for all the wrong reasons is what Groves hopes for, to be sidelined out of meaningful fights in favour of fighting African bums, to be part of a promoter that only affiliates itself with the WBO and not the WBC etc - then fine, he's struck gold. Perhaps he's looking for Groves to be derailed out of the picture. Maybe he'll fight Pavlik or someone in a sink or swim fight. But either way, I don't think they "care" about him as a guy and find the move weird at best given their differing approach to the sport.'
londoner
I think Groves would have been much better off with Matchroom sports. They are possibly the best promoting company in the UK now and are on a high. Also, he'd have Froch as a sparring partner potentially. Warren is the next best though IMO.
