RAZZ-MCFC
This pisses me off! Degale willl be lucky if he's ever half the fighter Marvin was! He doesn't deserve to even be mentioning Marvin in the same breath as his own name when it comes to boxing. Super-middleweight contender James DeGale has promised to be more like middleweight legend Marvin Hagler when he takes on European champion Piotr Wilczewski in his next outing. DeGale lost a highly controversial split decision to bitter rival George Groves in May, and the Olympian revealed he’s been channeling the spirit of Marvin Hagler with trainer Jimmy McDonnell as part of his rebuilding program. Talking about the loss, DeGale said, ‘I learnt a lot from it. One of the things I talked to Jimmy about is being more aggressive. I shouldn't have allowed the first eight rounds to turn into a sparring session. ‘A fighter that Jimmy and I have discussed is Marvin Hagler, and specifically his fight with Tommy Hearns. Hagler went to war against Hearns straight away, and if I had done that against Groves, I would have won the fight, easy. ‘I've been working on being more aggressive and cutting down the ring. You are not going to see a completely different fighter next time I box, but I will be an improved version of the one everybody saw in May.’ http://www.boxingfutures.com/news/0824-degale-i-ll-be-more-hagler
littleman370
if he wants to fight every fight like it's hagler-hearns, god help him because he won't be able to think by 28 (though this may be evidence he can't already!) i hope he does fight more aggressively like hagler though, the cheeky bastard would be fun in the build up to a big domestic fight against froch in a couple years

McBride
He has two chances of being like Marvin. One is to keep his head shaved, and the other is to " black up " muck like the Black and White minstrels of the 60's. As far as emulating him in the boxing ring goes, he is dreaming. markD
DeGale was never the brightest of people. I like him but I take no notice of what he says.
Dallen
How many times do we hear boxers say,i going to do that and im going to do this but things just seem to stay the same. With DeGale its took a defeat though a narrow one for him to realise, the road ahead is not going to be plain sailing.I wish him all the luck in the World because the guy is very talented, just wish he would keep his big mouth shut. And do his talking in the ring with improved performance's,then i think we the fans would be more than satisfied to support him all the way. Wheelchair
DeGale like Hagler? Nonsense. His career will be more like Errol Christie's if he doesn't get it together.
