" I hurt Vitali,he was ready to go. Im coming back&quot

I realised I missed the punching, I missed the sweating and getting the toxins out. I missed being athletic all my life and then suddenly I just stopped and it was like, wow, after 10 months of not exercising it felt like rigor mortis was setting in.

I miss knocking people out, I miss the butterflies beforehand, I miss the competitive nature of the game. I have been working out for the last three weeks and I realised how good that makes you feel.

I am making a comeback, not just to finish on a win, but to win the heavyweight championship of the world. Looking back on Germany, Vitali Klitschko fought me for 12 rounds with one arm and he couldn’t knock me out. Don’t forget, this is one of the men with one of the greatest knockout ratios in heavyweight history. I feel it would be awful to live the rest of my life knowing that he couldn’t knock me down when I had one arm, and that I could have beaten him with two. Life is too short for regrets, I have to make the most of my time.

I don’t miss the lying, the cheating, the stealing. I don’t miss the fact that fighters are taken advantage of all the time. I don’t miss the business side of it at all. So I’ll be coming back under different circumstances. I will not be robbed and taken advantage of. Let’s not forget that, as it stands, I fought the Klitschko fight for zero money. To this day, I still don’t know what the payday was supposed to be.

With my new promoter, Gary Jonas, we’re going to do this right. He hasn’t got the bad heart that some of the guys I worked with recently have to the core. He’s a different guy, he’s a different person altogether.

I want to thank all the fans who have supported me throughout the last year and I’m looking forward to showing you all that I’m back and I’m even better than before.

We’re getting in shape, and we’re looking at launching again in December or January. I’m making my comeback and I’m going to be coming back with a boom. There’s going to be a lot of advantages to it. I’m going to be marketing the product Zivair, it’s my asthma product that got me through that fight. I was able to breathe.

Being able to breathe, and with a healthy strong arm, I’m back baby.

I showed that I wouldn’t quit. If you look at his next fight, he fought Odlanier Solis, and the guy lost in the first round and he made $1.7million. How is he making that money and Shannon Briggs isn’t paid? He gets knocked out in the first round, an undefeated young man, gone inside three minutes. It proves to me more and more when I look back on my fight with Vitali that there’s unfinished business.

I had him hurt in the 10th round. Klitschko buckled and he was ready to go! This was with one arm. I’ve got my desire back. I’m ready to embark on my mission, it’s not finished, I’m going to be heavyweight champion for the third time.

Shannon Briggs

I didn't watch tghe fight at the time because I disapproved of Brioggs as the opponent, but I've just watched the 10th o9n youtube and Briggs doesn;t even land, let alone have Vitali ready to go - he spends the whole round getting battered from pillar to post.

Did Shannon suffer some sort of brain damage?

Did any hear what Fat Dan said? It was soemthing along the lines of "Yeah I wish it had been a 15 round fight"

yeah i remember that. they had some sort of twitter fight over how briggs got screwed by his last promotional company and then in one of his chat sessions dan said that of briggs. dan's a good reporter, but he's, shall we say, not a nice person if you disagree with him it seems

I don't think Shannon's apparent psychological problems/delusions are anything to make fun of, and only someone who has no concept of what it's like inside the Ring would make that 15 round crack. I know nothing about what it's like to get between the Ropes myself, but the big difference between myself and Rafael is I recognize it, and he doesn't seem to. Dan is NOT a boxing writer, he is just a gossip columnist who happens to get ahold of really good info from the people that run the sport. When was the last time you heard him refer to anything technical inside the Ring? He's clueless in that regard and that's why when there's an upcoming fight, the only ones who ask for his opinion on it are his employers, ESPN..............everyone else realizes that you could put Dan Rafael inside a Gym and have him watch every second of Training Camp preparation and he wouldn't notice shit. He's like a college professor who can speak of global warming/greenhouse effect but can't notice the most basic things looking at a car engine, which creates the very problem he's an expert on.

while i think the professor/greenhouse gas/engine thing is a bit misguided (no prof i've had pretended to know about engines themselves), dan pretends to know about boxing. he somehow bungled his way into doing commentary for epix. as i recall, he seemed to have an encyclopedic memory for things like past fights that got mentioned, but didn't have the same input other writers turned commentators have had, like bernstein or farhood

not to rail on dan "i insult my own readers with rather stunning regularity" rafael too much, but his analysis on ESPN pre- pac/mosley was that shane needed to "throw a lot of punches in this fight, if he wants to win" there you have it, the key to beating pacquiao! throw lots of punches!

I think the Briggs/Rafael thing is an ongoing feud in which Briggs called him a fat fuck after Dan said Briggs was being ripped off or something like that, it wasn't just Dan taking a cattish swipe without some sort of reason.

Because it's the only time in his career Vitali may have been 'rocked'? Maybe Sanders too, but otherwise he's tended to have a chin like a mountain.

That and it just sounds like something Lennox would say.I've always defended him on his right to retire without giving Vitali a rematch, but he comes out with some really odd statements that suggest an insecurity on his part in regards to Vitali.

The funny thing is that that was a lot deeper than Dan likes to go, he doesn't usually like to get that technical mlol/ Bottomline is, Dan Rafael couldn't tell the difference between a left hook and a fish hook. He knows all the gossip and is an expert at being used by Arum to float trial ballons, but his technical knowledge is paper thin.
