fightfan
Chavez Jr; Canelo the day you fight with somebody, give me a call. SPANISH VIDEO Do you rather to fight Against Cotto, than fighting Canelo? Chavez Answered: Why i want to fight Canelo? First i wanna fight Miguel Cotto, because i think Cotto is a real champion, a great fighter who got what he deserves, and its the fight that its next for me, And well If Canelo someday decides to fight with someone who is good, he can call me
RAZZ-MCFC
I reckon both Cotto and Canelo batter Jr. Overrated hype job
iamasadlittleboy
He has a good point, Matthew Htton Ryan Rhodes, Alfonso Gomez...come on, that is appalling, stop letting Canelo have a pass.
irondave85
How was Ryan Rhodes "appalling"? He was a very capable boxer and was ranked something like number three by The Ring and most expected him to give Canelo a good test. In fact, a few tipped the Brit to win. gavpowell
Rhodes always seemed poor to me - not world class, just another in a long line of fighters being fed to star names, just like Jenings against Cotto.

He was capable in his prime. He'd fought once in the previous 12 months beating Rocky Junior, he was 18 months removed from the Jamie Moore fight (that he was an under-dog for), he was 34. Whilst a good fighter he certainly wasn't the best in Europe. He was ring #9 the same as Karo Murat is today at 175, and Pawel Wolak today (who has just been lucky to get a draw with a Welterweight). The only reason they felt he could test Canelo was based on Canelo's inexperience, not what Rhodes was bringing to the table for his first over-seas fight. A few Brits tip there guy to win anything, a few Brits thought Haye would beat Wladimir... On the issue of Ring rankings, Zbik is #6...so Chavez has the better win between the two

Well that's your opinion Gav, but the consensus independent rankings had Rhodes somewhere in the world's top ten (Ring had him fourth, BM had him seventh I think). gavpowell
But dave, as you know from our many and varied discussions with the Texan Ernest Hemingway, I'm not a great believer in rankings grin//
irondave85
Again Gav, that's your prerogative, but if most respected publications are saying Rhodes was a highly ranked top-ten fighter, surely that counts for something? Also, on the subject of Zbik and fortunate decisions, most deemed Junior rather lucky to get the nod over Zbik. I thought it was a close fight that could have gone either way. Currnet #4's include Sylvester, Glen Johnson at 175 (yes in a weight he's not fought in in over a year), Devon Alexander (a guy who should be 0-3 in his last 3 fights) and Michael Katsidis... Just as dodgy as the boards rankings are the poor ones selected by magazines.
The Galveston Giant
Bit cheeky coming from Chavez considering how slowly he's been progressing, Canelo should step it up again after Gomez and a showdown between the two would be huge. I too think he gets beat by both Canelo and Cotto.
