It will be a big party in Culiacan, as the hometown hero Chavez will make his first defense. Hearns unsuccessfully challenged WBA champion Felix Sturm in his last fight. WelshDevilRob
Think Hearns promoter Lou DiBella is saying that he knew nothing about the fight but Hearns is happy to take it.
The Galveston Giant
Interesting matchup, Chavez gets a lot of stick but he's never going to equal his fathers achievements, he maybe gets a little special treatment but it's to be expected, if he beats Hearns i hope to see him step it up another level though. It looks like he's taking this fight before a fight with Peter Manfredo Jnr in November. So not stepping it up this year. grin//

Hearns is certainly no worse than Alfonso bloody Gomez...another Welter coming up for Canelo
davemurphy
To be honest, neither of the fights thrill but I think Hearns a bit more serviceable than Gomez at this point. In the end it won't matter as the WBC, despite their rhetoric, will never force Chavez to face better...............and that includes Alvarez. Keep him undefeated and Champion is going to test Sulamiens BS skills to the limit, every put on their Boots it's going to get REALLY thick the next couple years.
