Danny Jacobs Roaming English Countryside Looking for John Ryder

I reckon he'll find Ryder at center ring at first bell; and in his grill all night. Haven't seen Jacobs in over a year since he squeaked by Gabe Rosado. Home ring advantage for Ryder; got a couple wins since the close loss to Callum. I like Ryder in this spot.

--- Yup, with fairweather boxing fans screaming foul for this absolutely nothing fight where Danny knows he can't just skeeter around and so nothing to show against the limited arsenal of Ryder.

Yea I picked Ryder but I don't think he deserved the win. Threw away far too many early rounds and Jacobs won at least one of the later rounds that should've made the difference. But judges gonna be judges; I think the two that went Ryder got on a roll and gave him every round from the 5th.

I also would've looked foolish had I posted my thoughts on Felix Cash before the Madiev match. I think Cash deserved the points win - he won at least seven rounds for me - but the knockdowns, particularly the second one, were calamitous. Perhaps he can learn a lesson and improve his defence. Perhaps the time away affected him; by his own admission he strayed from the "fighter's life" during his layoff. The feeling is this match would be tougher than a shot at Signani's EBU title. May be some merit there. Won't abandon the high ceiling I see for him just yet.

It was definitely a fixed fight / paid for decision.

At the same time, Jacobs didn't exactly wow me. He can be forgiven for his practically-disinterested performance last time, due to the pandemic issues, but no excuse now.

He looked much better, but not crisp. Certainly not even close to the guy that once fought Golovkin.

Maybe age has simply caught up with him.

------------

But John Ryder is brutally average, with meat & potatoes basic offense and no real power.

His only future is as a manufactured opponent for well-connected top dogs.
