LondonRingRules
--- Both out of the ring for more than a year that would seemingly favor the muscly Porter, but the suits are trying to keep Bud propped up for a superfight vs Spence, so that's the real backdrop. I don't think Bud could take the punishment Porter dispensed on Spence, but nobody's quite the same as then, but the fav will always be Bud. Porter gots a tough steak to cut up.
WelshDevilRob
Very good match-up. I believe it is being shown live on SkySports, in the UK. Shawn always pushes the best but falls, slightly, short. 'Bud' will need to be on top of his game.
kerrminator
I'm looking forward to seeing Bud step up. He seems to be hesitanat to fight these days and Porter is a tough night for anyone. Hope you guys are well I only found this site again when I was searching through an old hard drive so I will keep an eye out for posts :D
Cableaddict
Porter never fails to deliver an enjoyable fight, so I'm really looking forward to this one. But the smart money is on Bud, of COURSE. Expect Porter to be very aggressive early, with Bud being cautious & Porter landing a few decent punches in close. Until Bud gets the timing down and lets it go. Crawford KO, sometime after round 5, but with Porter ahead on the cards.
Robbo
3 1/2 years after moving up to welter weight Crawford finally goes in against a decent, though at least 4 years passed his best, opponent. Anyone feel that at the age of 34 Crawford has let his peak years go by?
Ledhed1
I can see Porter getting destroyed here. Fifteen months between fights for no apparent reason. Been spending alot of time pursuing his avocation of TV commentator. I wonder how ready he is for this.
Cableaddict
3 1/2 years after moving up to welter weight Crawford finally goes in against a decent, though at least 4 years passed his best, opponent. Anyone feel that at the age of 34 Crawford has let his peak years go by? Hard to say. Bud's technical skill seems to have improved quite a lot from when he was first catching attention as a pro. (Seems like ages ago, doesn't it?) Back then he was fast, but mostly just a huge left hand and lots of foot movement. These days he's got a much larger arsenal to work with, and I don't think he needs to rely so much on athleticism as before. And Porter won't need to be chased around the ring, which makes this fight a bit easier in that respect. ANY fighter is past his prime at 34, but I can easily see Bud staying on top for another 3-4 years.
WelshDevilRob
Both men are 34-years-old. Porter had a tougher career, as fought the better fighters. At the weight and age, neither is going to get better.
Robbo
Good fight though Porter just seemed to fall apart at the end. Crawford got caught a lot more than usual so it's lucky that, despite his physique, Porter's not a big puncher.
LondonRingRules
--- I'd say Craw was lucky that Porter's Daddy gave him a gift. I'd expect more fan and insider boxing outrage, but end of the day Craw never a big draw so apparently few care. If Porter does come out of retirement after that likely over/under 10 round wager by Pops, he'd definitely need a new trainer. Porter has made his family wealthy and deserves a better ending to his career than what his Daddy handed him.
WelshDevilRob
Watched it with a few beers, last night. I thought Porter was ahead before the fateful tenth round. If Porter had survived the 10th, it would've been a 10-7 round in Bud's favour. All three judges had Crawford ahead, after nine rounds. Didn't seem a high output contest though noticed Bud missing quite a lot. Liked how Porter boxed and seemed to be to a plan, so his Dad's comments are a bit strange. His Dad seemed a bit bizarre, in the post-fight interview.
