Canelo Alvarez vs Caleb Plant Post Halloween Weekend

--- Scuttlebutt has Plant now living in Vegas w/media gf who supposed to be a friend of the "Haymon Family" as creepy as that family may sound.

He also seems to have reinvented his soft lad physiology now looking like a prototypical bodybuilder...VADA Vic vitamins with hyperbolic workouts?

Maybe our resident sports physiology experts can shed some light on that phenomenon, but the nuts and bolts of the fight here, and interestingly Canelo finally old enough he's fighting younger guys than him:

Rather bizarre how Fox has made Jordan Plant - formerly Jordan Hardy - more than just a ringside reporter on broadcasts. They have her contributing boxing analysis. On the basis that she married a fighter?

Post-covid we've seen quite a few stunning upsets but I don't see it happening here. Canelo's fresh - no layoff issues - and at the top of his game. Plant's an excellent fighter and tough as nails; he'll fight his guts out. No shame in losing to Canelo at 168; I think he's peerless right now at that weight. If Canelo gets too adventurous at 175, that's where the danger lies.

Sadly, that literally makes her more qualified than the vast majority of current commentators.

I have no idea what "vitamins" Plant might be taking, but regardless I've always held him in very high regard. I think he'll give the Gingican a decent amount of trouble for maybe 6 rounds or so. But ultimately I can't see Canelo, who just keeps improving and is also clearly on better PED's than Plant could ever afford, losing.

Isn't Andre Ward predicting a Plant victory? Is Caleb with trainer Virgil Hunter (Ward's old trainer)?

Is Hunter really working with him? Any pics online show Plant with Andre Ward, but Hunter is never there.

Well, who knows? - But what can they possibly do in a month, anyway?

Also, I'm not sure what Ward can teach Plant, short of how to get away with blatant head butts & low blows. Plant already has excellent skills all around. What he lacks is power and stamina. I suppose he might learn slightly better punch technique, the way Fury did with Sugar Hill. But in a month? Plant would just revert to his old muscle memory once Canelo lands a few punches of his own.

--- I seem to recall the Hennessy name in placards around Eddie's cards, but I always thought without knowing it was a British liquor distiller. Can anyone clue me in?

Post-event, it's obviously the Hennessy betting company. I was absolutely disgusted at how much the ads were pushing betting, during the actual event. They even had some of the commentators explain to the viewers, in detail, all the many ways they could place bets and thus lose the rent payment, the kid's college fund, food money, etc.

Legal betting is one of the supreme evils in this world. EVEN WORSE THAN DON KING.

After alphabet soup, Inter-continental champions, sanctioned fights with internet stars. Bridgerweight, etc. I didn't think I could possibly get even more sickened by the organization of professional boxing, but they've managed to do it.

You'd think that routinely, blatantly robbing fighters and ruining their careers would be enough. But no, they keep pushing us, and pushing us, and pushing us .................

Are you allowed to bet in the USA now? It was just restricted to Native Indian reserves, wasn't it? Lot of tax money in betting, more than Cannabis.

Years ago they let all the Indian reservations have casinos, so they could make big wampum and then pay lots of taxes. (In Amerika, only rich white people and huge corporations don't pay taxes.)

- but it's certainly not exclusive. There's also all the lotteries, etc. Anything to bring more non-tax dollars to the govmt. But the worst part is that they now seem to allow gambling advertising in the USA for private organizations, something that had been wisely forbidden for decades.

Pretty soon they'll surely start advertising cigarettes again.

Mo money, mo money, mo money, mo money ...................

The UK has, at least, one betting shop in each town, normally, near a charity shop. Online betting has gone through the roof, in recent years. It's big business and always has been with Brits. Is it legal to bet online in the USA?

- -Well, a young online poker wiz won big in a tourney had enough cash to move into my neighborhood 20 years ago.

Net result is the gambling addicts are on their own now with no visible exterior protections.
