Robbo
Is he still 'fighting' ? He's been champion for nearly 6 years now - He should have racked up more than a dozen defences. Utterly abysmal career management. Anyway he must be due his annual sparring session soon.
LondonRingRules
--- Gary Russett Jr already made his Groundhog a day appearance to pop back into his hole that doomed us to another month of the most horrific winter we've ever experienced in these parts-3 weeks temps from below 10 F- mid 20s F that knocked out substantial portions of the Texas power grid in the Dark Ages and no internet with roads ultimately impassable due to heavy snow and ice. Maybe next year for Groundhog Gary.
Ton
If he was 32 years old, I'd agree with you, but he's only 22. And he still has a somewhat questionable record to date, isn;t some kind of highly touted Mexican talent....they are already out of the woodwork before 20 fighters if they are regarded as potentially great boxers. They've stepped into US soil and are being showcased on undercards. I really hope you're right here by the way. It would be great if he takes this opportunity to work on his craft, make improvements where needed and can blast through some of the contenders in the division. But, realistically, all signs point to Lara beingone of these tough guys with a big punch who managed to get the job done on a night where things went perfetly for him! We see it time and again, but we also see them fade out. It happened at a lower level with Khan when Prescott wiped him out. He went on to become a journeyman into the double digits in losses. Kiko Martinez exploded onto the scene when he knocked out Dunne in a round, and while he remained a dangerous opperator and still is, he is somewhat of a journeyman gatekeeper to the division. I'd be very surprised if Lara didn't follow this well trodden path, but I do hope you're right!
LondonRingRules
--- C'mon, Breidas KOed a touted prospect, the Mexican Kid showed incredible class by demolishing the #1 champ in the face of the infinitely corrupted BBbc officiating dead set against him. Yeah, so he's crude, but now grade A trainers gonna be bidding on the effort to make him a true force in the division in a sport sorely lacking ambition among fighters and promoters. Let's give him some breathing room. Wish War the best, but really, he got cracked open and not likely all the Kings men and all the Kings horses gonna put him back together again. Let's give him some breathing room. I've not said he definitely won't improve....and even said I hope my inkling is wrong. I'm just more inclined to think he won't go on to be some special talent, even given that he has age on his side.
Layton
This guy Lara reminded me of Prescott when he ko'd Khan, probably end up similar imo.
