Eddie Hearn's event in Italy today

Anyone's watching it? The names are not that big, but triple header of Italy vs UK looks like some minor, but interesting event.

 

The fights are:

Andrea Scarpa v Joe Hughes for EBU Super Lightweight title

 

Scarpa's biggest win is an upset over John Wayne Hibbert. He lost two fights since, including the boring shoutout over Ohara Davies and disappointing loss over Franck Petitjean. Joe Hughes unsuccessfully tried to capture the title from Anthony Yigit almost a year ago. He also has a draw with Tyrone Nurse and was competitve against Jack Catterall. It's hard to seperate both boxers. It looks like a 50/50 fight for me.

 

Devis Boschiero v Martin Joseph Ward for WBC International Silver Super Featherweight title

 

Italy's Boschiero appeared to be a spent fighter during last few years of his career with some embarassing performances. He scored a decent victory over undefeated Faroukh Kourbanov few months ago, but also had a disappointing draw against Maycol Cuevas (8-14) later. Ward had a successful streak of defences as the Brithish champion and had the EBU belt. His only loss is to James Tennyson. I think Ward should win it, but maybe Boschiero will bring a competitive fight for the Italian crowd.

 

Fabio Turchi v Tony Conquest for WBC International Silver cruiserweight title

 

Turchi is probably the biggest hope of Italian boxing, but is hugely untested so far. Conquest was a Commonwealth champ few years ago, but fought only some minor fights since he lost this belt to Ovill McKenzie. I think that Turchi should KO Conquest.

 

This event is the first out of eight for DAZN Italy.
