LondonRingRules
--- A bit news of the morbidly weird here as the 49 yr old undefeated Daghio died from injuries sustained in his first loss. Alternately being reported as a Mui Thai bout. Didn't take up boxing until he was in his 40s. just odd all around. http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/716056 Edited November 5, 2018 by LondonRingRules
selij
Re: Boxer Christian Daghio Perishes in Thailand May he RIP. Very odd all around yes. A 49 yr old Italian fighting out of Thailand. Ex-mui thai combatant only boxed 44 rounds in a 3 and a half year 'career'. Would the BBBofC (for all their failings) allowed him a licence? I dont think so. So maybe the authorities must accept some responsibility here but I doubt it for a 3rd world cesspit of a country.
LondonRingRules
Re: Boxer Christian Daghio Perishes in Thailand --- I take that this may be the death video? I only watched the first two rds to see how the styles played out, and that Thai conceding at least 20-30 lbs smaller had quik, accurate hands with good pop as opposed to the slow lumbering of Daghio. Admirable to want to fight, so I guess it was a blessing he got to go out doing what he liked doing...R.I.P...
pittbox
Re: Boxer Christian Daghio Perishes in Thailand I've seen this KO earlier. I was checking out if any good news were available and then I see this one ... I feel shocked. Let's be honest that everything in this fight went wrong as it appeared to be quite action packed. He shouldn't have fought 12 rounders and getting KOd in the latter rounds usually spells trouble. Safety standards in south-eastern Asia are very low. Often I see scheduled bouts when the fighter with record like 0-3 is set to fight for 12 rounds. Don't forget about muay-thai when even children fight without any sort of safety precautions. We probably aren't even aware of most of the morbid things which happen there. It probably wouldn't be seen as such a shock there as in the Europe, so I doubt a lot of the things will change. It'd be interesting how his "treatment" actually looked. According to reports Daghio was still lying on the canvas when the ceremony of the winner was conducted.
