LondonRingRules
--- Looks as near a done deal as can be. I see so much wrong with this on so many fronts, but what sayeth boxing experts after reading this article serving notice? Errol Spence Jr., Mikey Garcia closing in on deal for February PPV bout - The Ring
Ton
Re: Mikey Garcia vs Errol Spence? To me - it's one of the dumbest fights ever made. Floyd vs McGregor or Khabib made more sense since Floyd wasn't going to fight any legit boxer anyway, so what are we missing on? Here we Have two top guys fighting in two stacked division - with great rivals at hand - and You match them in physical mismatch only because You want to raise a profile of both and get them more money? Only question is how competitive Mikey can be, which is not any different than watching Floyd vs McGregor. It's not like anyone will seriously think Mikey will win this, He even had trouble with strength of Lipinets who's C level slugger. Mikey should fight Lomachenko, Spence should fight Porter, Thurman, Garcia, Crawford. I'd take Mikey vs Commey and Spence vs Ugas before that - two solid fights. Spence beats Mikey, Mikey loses - Spence gets no credit for it and it's not even good fight. What's the point then? Perfectly put!! As you say it's not like they don't have options. Who is Garcia's promoter because it's a really bad move on their part.
LondonRingRules
Re: Mikey Garcia vs Errol Spence? --- For the record, his older brother, Robert, who trains him, is against the bout. I guess like Max in his first bout against the indestructible Joe Louis noted, "I zee sumting..."
Undefeated
Re: Mikey Garcia vs Errol Spence? But what if Mikey pulls it off? I know it's a long shot but I've been hearing that Spence Jr has fallen into the wrong crowd and is now drinking and partying all night long and is no longer living the life of an elite pro boxer. There's no concern over Mikey's commitment to the sport so what if it wasn't so ridiculous? We've seen Haye beat Valuev, Jones Jr beat Ruiz, Pacquiao beat De La Hoya and so on. No one's going to be putting their hard earned on Garcia pulling it off but that he even dares to try and be great I think deserves great plaudits.
