Gerald
Boxingscene is reporting that Canelo has signed with DAZN on a multi-fight deal. DAZN To Stream Canelo-Fielding Card, Future Canelo Fights - Boxing News I suppose it might have been predicted given the HBO exit and the signing of the Fielding fight and some of the issues relating to ESPN (Arum) and the amount of money already involved in the Showtime/Fox PBC deals. Will be interesting to see how much of this deal is connected with (or leads to) signing other Golden Boy talent to DAZN
LondonRingRules
Re: Canelo signs with DAZN --- YUUUGE news with the potential to take Canelo and thus boxing into a new international platform. Of course, few in boxing have more critics than Canelo and Eddie, but such has always been the mother's milk of boxing.
Gerald
Re: Canelo signs with DAZN More reports coming out with further details. ESPN reporting that it is a 5 year, 11 fight deal worth $365 Million. Serious money. Contract also calls for 10 Golden Boy fight cards per year, starting next year. The network/promotion battle lines feel well and truly drawn. LondonRingRules
Re: Canelo signs with DAZN --- that's approx $35 mil per fight for Canelo, and we know that his preference has always fighting more than twice a year, so thrice a year is a $100+ guarantee a year over the next 4 years. LondonRingRules
Re: Canelo signs with DAZN Dayum... I hope that means better opponents than the likes of Rocky Fielding. --- Dunno, Cable, Rocky only lost once and that to the number 1 and top ten ranked, and what is he, 6-4 with a street weight at 210? Now the angles make fighters look smaller and larger than they are, but just look at the upward and downward gazes with Rocky being on the upswing in his career. LondonRingRules
Re: Canelo signs with DAZN --- Can't disagree with your view other than Rocky well above 168 for much of his career, currently 6th by boxrec and 9th by Ring, clearly a few stations above Euro level. I predict a tough fight, but the last time above 160, Canelo put on a mastercass against Chavez Jr that cannot be ignored.
