The_budweiser
There are attractive matchups all around us, and a bevy of potential classics that could be made. On September 15th, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez edged Gennady Golovkin in their rematch in what may have been the biggest match of 2018. And this week the sport has been taking in the antics of two men ahead of another huge fight, as Deontay Wilder will face Tyson Fury on December 1st in one of the biggest heavyweight brawls in years. LondonRingRules
Re: Was Mikey Garcia Blowing Smoke With His Talk of Facing Errol Spence Jr.? --- Seems like an improbable match, so yeah, blow a little smoke and reap the publicity. BoztheMadman
Re: Was Mikey Garcia Blowing Smoke With His Talk of Facing Errol Spence Jr.? He knows it's not a that winnable fight for him, since he is the smaller man there and his power would have less leverage against Spence. Cableaddict
Re: Was Mikey Garcia Blowing Smoke With His Talk of Facing Errol Spence Jr.? Either it's a barking, chained-up junkyard dog routine, or a quick cash-grab, at a weight where no one will dis him for losing. But DAYUM, I sure would like to see it happen. A younger Mikey could have given Spence a lot of trouble. Maybe he's got one more brilliant night in him? A lot of folks think the smart move is in the other direction: Big payday fight against Lomachencko. - But to me that's silly. He has a small chance against Spence, who will come right at him with all guns blazing, but he has literally ZERO chance agains Loma. If He loses to Spence, it will at least be a fan-friendly battle, with big shots landed from both men. And again, no shame in losing. But Loma will make him look slow, old, and one dimensional. It will be a boring fight for the casuals, and Mikey's reputation WILL take a serious hit after the loss. Go for Spence. Why the heck not? Mo money, mo money, mo money, mo money .................... LondonRingRules
Re: Was Mikey Garcia Blowing Smoke With His Talk of Facing Errol Spence Jr.? --- Loma pays better than Spence who is still looking for a breakout fight in a weak era of star names. Arum is already near a done deal.
robprosser
Re: Was Mikey Garcia Blowing Smoke With His Talk of Facing Errol Spence Jr.? It was never really on was it? Garcia is short, smaller, slower, less powerful and easier to hit. There was only ever to be one outcome. Garcia could only win by KO but Spence has got a good chin and Mikey's power isn;t much to write home about at 135lbs and above (I don;t think he's even got a knockdown in his last 3 fights).
