Bear Hugger
Britain's Tony Bellew will challenge Ukraine's Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed world cruiserweight title at Manchester Arena on 10 November. The former WBC cruiserweight champion is stepping down a division after two heavyweight victories over David Haye. Usyk, 31, became the first man to hold all four world cruiserweight titles - WBO, WBC, WBA and IBF - when he won the inaugural World Boxing Super Series. "There is no greater test than Oleksandr Usyk," said Bellew. "He is one of the most feared men in boxing. This is the ultimate test for me." The 35-year-old from Liverpool told Matchroom: "Make no mistake, I know this is the most dangerous fight of my life but I'm also going into this with my eyes wide open, I'm not in awe of Usyk. I won't stand and admire him and allow him to rattle off five-punch combinations on my head. "He's meeting someone now who's just as quick as him, someone that's competed at a division lighter than him and someone that's come across fighters much more powerful than him." Usyk won the WBO title in his 10th fight before adding the WBC with victory over Mairis Briedis in the World Boxing Super Series semi-final. He added the IBF and WBA crowns by beating Murat Gassiev in the final. "I've been preparing for this fight for a long time and I'm delighted that we've got the venue and the date finalised," said the 2012 Olympic gold medallist. "I cannot wait to fight in the UK." Cableaddict
Re: Bellew vs Usyk set for Manchester in November I actually like this fight. Usyk is sublime, of course, but at 200, Bellew has really good power, has excellent defense, and he's clearly one of those guys that rises to the occasion. I'd never rule him out. Could be a fascinating fight. Could also be a blow-out.

Gerald
Re: Bellew vs Usyk set for Manchester in November Good fight but yet another UK PPV in the final third of the year. Going to be a very crowded marketplace. Joshua - Povetkin; GGG - Canelo 2; Groves - Smith; Bellew - Usyk; Fury - Wilder; Chisora - Whyte 2; Frampton - Warrington... all within a three month stretch

Gerald
Re: Bellew vs Usyk set for Manchester in November Chisora - Whyte is PPV? Wow. According to Hearn. He gave an interview this week saying that if everything went right it could even reach 1 million buys! He knows his numbers but that seems like a serious stretch. Warren said yesterday that Chisora hasn't signed for the fight yet so maybe Hearn is putting that out there to try and make sure he seals the deal... I think Bellew is annoying as hell, and that his ego has gone into overdrive after the Haye fights. But having said that, I hope he wins and finally gets respect for beating a quality opponent. Can't see it happening. Haye was already done, esp in the second fight.
LondonRingRules
Re: Bellew vs Usyk set for Manchester in November --- Bellew underrated, a bit daft publicly, but he's in full flower physically, mentally, and ring craft. I expect he holds his own early, but by the 6th Usyk class extracts his toll, maybe going to decision, but Bellew prob done in by tko. The_budweiser
Re: Bellew vs Usyk set for Manchester in November As much as Bellew irritates me with his personality. You got to love Bellew and his big set of balls. If all fighters were willing to test themselves then the sport would be in a better place. One of hopefully many good fights to end 2018 with. Ton
Re: Bellew vs Usyk set for Manchester in November Good fight, agree with Bud above though. I don't particularly like Bellew but he will fight pretty much anyone, so credit where it's due. Can't see anything but a Usyk victory. BoztheMadman
Re: Bellew vs Usyk set for Manchester in November Of course, it would take a miracle and a whole lot bad judging for Bellew to win. Usyk is not a big puncher, so I see this going the distance. But, I can only see Bellew getting owned pretty badly, especially as the fight goes on. Usyk can't be stopped by Bellew and he only gets stronger as the fight goes on, as we saw against Gassiev. Need I say more? ;-)
