Taylor-Postol post fight thoughts?

I didn't like the referee Ian John Lewis in the fight. When Postol was having his moments and the fighters clinced, he took his time separating them, had a word with a fighter to slow things down then added extra distance to his brakes. But when Taylor was on top he couldn't separate them fast enough and the distance after the brake was tiny.

 

I thought it was a good learning fight and one that showed Taylor still has work to do. I didn't score the fight, but watching it on TV I thought it was closer than the 7/8 rounds the judges scored it.

Taylor does yet have things to learn, but he will develop I think and hope. This was a great learning experience, a fight against a tall and rangy technician. But Crawford for instance is neither tall nor rangy, so Josh would be in advantage there. ;-) Or whoever he ends up fighting...Prograis, Hooker, Lipinets.

I had it even after 6 rounds. And Taylor pulled away with the championship rounds and the knockout. Didn't care for the score cards. Made it seem like Postal was getting outworked each and every round. And that wasn't the case. Surprised Josh didn't go to the body more often earlier in the fight.

 

I have a question tho. WTF is going on with Josh's eye?

Taylor is supremely talented, but he's also dirty as Hell. Esp his tendency to throw rabbit punches.

 

I'll never be a fan. Always going to root to see him humiliated.

I hope someone comes along and beats the living crap out of him.

Lot of close rounds. Knockdown certainly helped along with the judges.

Finally had the time to watch this fight. It's a great win for Taylor and I'd see him as a slight favorite against Jose Ramirez. Scorecards were crazy, though. 1-3 rounds for Postol? For me, the fight was clearly even after 8 and you could've given Postol round 11 as well. 115-112 on my card.

I agree. The scorecards seemed too wide for me.
