Bear Hugger
Dereck Chisora will take on Carlos Takam in a bout promoter Eddie Hearn says represents the "last chance saloon" for the British heavyweight. Chisora, 34, has lost three of his last six bouts going into the 28 July contest at London's O2 Arena. Takam, 37, took IBF, WBO and WBA world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua 10 rounds in defeat in October. The pair will meet on the undercard of Dillian Whyte's heavyweight bout with Joseph Parker. Katie Taylor and Kell Brook are also in action on the night, but the Whyte-Parker and Chisora-Takam fights will have an impact near the top of the heavyweight rankings. Chisora - nicknamed 'Del Boy' - has challenged for a world title once before, losing to Vitali Klitschko in 2012. He impressively stopped Frenchman Zakaria Azzouzi in March but has lost to Whyte, Kubrat Pulev and Agit Kabayel since 2016. "This is a great fight," said promoter Hearn. "For Del Boy, it's a real last chance saloon at world level and for Takam it's a chance to push for another world title shot after a strong showing against AJ." Chisora holds a record of 28 wins and eight defeats, while Takam has 35 wins and a draw from 40 contests. The French fighter was the first man to take Joshua into the last three rounds of a bout despite taking the fight at two weeks' notice. LondonRingRules
Re: Chisora v Takam on Parker-Whyte undercard --- Takam has always been the better and stronger fighter. Chisora had his heart ripped away by a 20 year old Fury in their first fight, and has been hanging on to the fringes ever since. Great FOY type fight against Whyte, but as many miles on the odometer as Takam has, Chisora has more. They gotta fight to prove it, so there it is, a traditional donnybrook, hip, hip, hurray!!! WelshDevilRob
Re: Chisora v Takam on Parker-Whyte undercard IBF have now ordered Kubrat Pulev vs Jarrell Miller, hope that gets made. Tough one to call but should give us some answers about Miller. Takam vs Chisora is a potential barnburner. Am picking the Cameroon fighter. Fantastic addition to the card. markD
Re: Chisora v Takam on Parker-Whyte undercard Not sure its PPV worthy. Takam Chisora should be good. Takam to stop him
Ton
Re: Chisora v Takam on Parker-Whyte undercard Hopefully another defeat makes Chisora disappear from the UK scene and he can follow Danny Williams into obscurity. Williams of course just trying to make a living and fair enough to him. Chisora is just an unlikeable thug who got ridiculous and totally unjustifiable overhype in the early years of his career. joe strong
Re: Chisora v Takam on Parker-Whyte undercard Takam/Chisora is a good matchup for sure but I expect Takam to come away with the win. Chisora is a tough nights work for any HW but he simply doesn't have the power or speed to beat the top contenders. Solid fringe contender somewhere in the top 11-25 range... He has fought a lot of good HWs. He has a marginal skillset but he has carved out a decent career for himself. He is a gatekeeper who is tough as nails & gives any HW a tough night on most occasions but sometimes he doesn't always show up. He doesn't beat any of the top HWs. He reminds me of Jameel McCline. Good enough to beat all the C level journeymen & has enough to beat a few fringe guys but when stepping in with the top 10 he will come up short. His best win is over Malik Scott or Kevin Johnson. He did beat Edmund Gerber & had really close fights with Whyte & Helenius but for the most part he lost to all the guys ranked higher than him. Kabayel was a surprise defeat but losses to Klitschko, Fury (x2), Pulev & Haye were expected. In my eyes he is a solid HW & he will keep getting fights until he chooses to hang them up or he gets badly KTFO. That has yet to happen except for the Haye fight...
