Eddie Hearn reveals the three fights he had lined up for Tyson Fury

Recommended Posts

Less than a week out from Tyson Fury’s long awaited return to the ring, promoter Eddie Hearn has opened up about the fights he had planned for the lineal heavyweight champion if he had signed with him rather than rival Frank Warren.

He talks some amount of rubbish at times. I remember when he said AJ would fight Haye and Fury inside 12 months, years later and still no fight.

"You can't call out Joshua, and do this to Wilder or do this to Bellew and then fight an Albanian cruiserweight” I do agree with this comment though it makes Hearn look like a hyprociate as he wasn't prepared to let Fury fight 3/4 fights such as the Albanian. But with AJ he shouted out big names for a few years but it wasn't until recently he stepped it up against Klitschko.

--- I'd have thought that in spite of the physical neglect and mental breakdown, Tyson could handle Eddies schedule because he's only 29, in traditional prime for most healthy athletes.

I'd suggest physically he'll be fine, but perhaps all his unceasing bombast riled rivals and made his fights easy to promote also served to mask his insecurities. He was just a kid unduly influenced by the overwhelming presence of his father when he went to jail. His uncle peter stepped up to brilliant train and mentor him in a beautiful arrangement, and now he feels torn over that loss.

during Ali's 3 yr absence, he was at lest active in college lectures while fighting for his freedom, so his first two fights of Quarry and bonavena served to prep him for Joe Frazier. Fury instead was an addled zombie though he successfully fought the BBbc over doping charges.

Thing is, this tiny Albanian whooped the stink out of Charr no matter the decision. He used good defensive movement and really let his hands go. With the size differential, he could make a clumsy Fury look like a oaf.

I think Hearn's comments are slightly misleading (or, at least, the way they are coming across is misleading). I'm sure he suggested to Fury that these three fights would be available to him but I also doubt whether Hearn proposed that this would be his next three fights under a Matchroom deal. Indeed, Hearn is explicitly saying that such a deal would include one or two easier contests. I'm also sceptical that the Bellew, Whyte and Joshua fights won't still be there for him now he's with Warren. There's enough money on the table and/or upside for the Matchroom fighter in facing Fury that I think those fights are eminently make-able with a bit of sensible co-operation (here's hoping!)

I think Fury will struggle with Seferi, both because of his long layoff and because Seferi is so much smaller and faster, nimbler. But eventually he should be able to catch up with him...enough to be given a decision.

That's a very interesting take on Fury. I have a hard time seeing past the bombast, to an actual human, but you may be right.

Also, now I HAVE to see the Seferi-Charr fight !
