Eric Molina tests positive for banned substance; 2 year suspension.

Recommended Posts

"American boxer Eric Molina has been suspended from all sport for a period of two years following an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV).

Mr Molina tested positive for the presence of the prohibited substance dexamethasone, following an In-Competition test on 11 December 2016, after his fight against Anthony Joshua.

Mr Molina was charged with an ADRV pursuant to Article 2.1 of the Anti-Doping Rules – “Presence of a Prohibited Substance or its Metabolites or Markers in an Athlete’s Sample.”

UKAD Chief Executive Nicole Sapstead said: “Every athlete is solely responsible for what is in their system and must adhere to the strict liability principle.

“All athletes at any level should familiarise themselves with the WADA Prohibited List and ensure they do not put themselves in a position where they may breach anti-doping regulations.”

The period of ineligibility shall apply from the date of the provisional suspension (28 October 2017) until midnight on 27 October 2019."

Thoughts? I am no expert concerning drugs, although it seems dexamethasone has some sort of anti-inflammatory effect when used, it is possible he may have used it following the brutal KO defeat to Joshua to calm the swelling down. Who knows? My only concern is why it takes drug testing organisations this long to declare suspensions etc., Molina fought twice in 2017 and it is only now that it comes to light.

He should just blame it on eating Canadian chicken.

Then it would only be a 6 month ban, and he wouldn't have to start VADA testing until he feels like it.

Well, they've really done him a favor here. It's not like Molina's career is going anywhere, and he's taken an awful lot of punishment over the years.

Time to retire.

You're allowed to take it out of competition, and he had it as part of a vitamin B12 injection on the day of the fight - you don't get to pootle off and get tested later, you're to give the sample as soon as you get back to the dressing room or whatever. Unless you're Julio Cesar Chavez jr, in which case they conveniently forget to test you.

--- Really, the BBbc couldn't be more corrupt or stupid, prob a bad case of both. Is this an official uk appointed gvt org or another We Be Crooks el puerco fife life sham?

Nothing to do with the BBBofC, it's an independent organisation but monitored by the government.

--- New translation: Stupid govt appointed BBbc has to rely on stupid govt appointed drug testing apparatus, ok now, sorted by layers of stooopid, or sorted by any other name!

The government doesn't appoint the BBBof C, that's what I'm saying. It's independent idiocy.

They're not "government drug testing apparatus" anymore than the BBC is government broadcasting apparatus.

You give me increasing hope I'll wake to find someone poisoned my door handle and this has all been but a decade-long fever dream.

Does anyone know if hair of the dog works for suspected acid trips?

It works great!

The only downside is that, eventually, you start to see corruption everywhere you look.

Don't ask me how I know this.

UKAD test and are inline with WADA. That this has take this long is startling. Maybe, the delay was due to what was going on with the Fury case. He's had several fights since, so those opponents should sue them. Also, shame on Eric for cheating.
