Loma vs Linares spoiler!!!

Re: Loma vs Linares spoiler!!!

After five rounds, I thought that this would be typical Lomachenko's fight with the opponent being frustrated enough to quit. Linares surprised everyone, though! He got the 3 out of next 4 rounds on my card, but Loma got this KO shot out of nowhere! Do you think that someone can be as competitive in this division as Linares? I don't think so.

Re: Loma vs Linares spoiler!!!

Hugely enjoyable fight!

Linares started well and seemed to be the bigger man in the first, on the front foot and dictated the action.

However Loma then turned it on a bit from the second, he seemed to just shift gears and workout out Linares. I gave him the next 5 rounds until the knockdown out of nowhere.

It wasn't deadly one sided but Loma just seemed to do the better work. After the knockdown Linares came into it a bit more, I gave him the next round and the 9th before the stoppage came in the 10th.

A perfect body shot.

I scored it 85-85 each going into the 10th, but maybe I was being a bit kind to Linares, with 1 or two of them, there were some rather tight rounds.

I scored only the 1st round differently. Here we've got the official scorecards (source: boxingscene.com)

It's interesting for me that judges scored just 2 out of first 5 rounds unanimously. I think Lomachenko dominated them. I see that a lot of guys scored the 1st for Linares, so I can see this one as debatable, but apart from that these are Lomachenko's rounds.

Compubox stats are interesting, too. Apparently Linares outlanded Lomachenko in 5 rounds, Lomachenko outlanded Linares in just 4 rounds with one round even. They have Linares scoring more than 40% of his "power punches" in some of the rounds. This looks unrealistic to me, but I don't take punch stats too serious after Pacquiao v Horn.

Re: Loma vs Linares spoiler!!!

Whoa, whats a great fight. Haven't watched the broadcast yet. But i had Loma up by a couple points at the stoppage. The round after the knockdown and another one (maybe the 8th) were both swing rounds, could've gone either way. The building was electric. The undercard was a bit underwhelming, although Barrera was tough as nails. What a chin.

Met Crawford and Shakur at the Hotel afterward. Also Joell Diaz, Teo Lopez, Usyk and artist Patrick Killian.

Whats next for Loma? Word is maybe Beltran at the Garden in August. Hmmm

Re: Loma vs Linares spoiler!!!

It was a great fight, and much closer than the commentators were making it seem. As has happened before, the dick-riders overlooked a lot of good work Linares was doing, and thus actually lessened the drama, especially for casual viewers.

I didn't quite have it even, but it definitely WAS close.

And Loma proved both that he has legit LW chin, AND legit power, both of which surprised me. He always impressed me, of course, but I was never truly a fan until now.

Some more scores are in and makes some pretty interesting fight analysis:

Jorge Linares vs Vasyl Lomachenko Analysis

Rounds 3, 4, 5 & 8 were universally awarded to Lomachenko while there was the universal 10-8 round 6 for Linares.

Can start to see now, with more users scoring, that the reasons charts offer some insight into the rounds. Hopefully the userbase continues to grow.
