The_budweiser
Another impressive performance. So, whats next for Bellew? The two results against Haye should open up a lot of doors at Heavyweight and Cruiserweight. Bellew has suggested he'll move back down but if an offer that's too good to turn down comes up at heavyweight, I can't see him turning it down. Bear Hugger
Re: Whats next for Tony Bellew? I, like many others didn't think Bellew would win the first fight. I thought he got lucky with a ring rusty injured Haye. I didn't think Bellew would win the rematch against a leaner fitter version of Haye. I begrudgingly gave him credit for the first fight, but in the back of my mind put it down to the injury suffered by Haye. Roll on 14 months and Bellew looked fitter and sharper than Haye. This time I wholeheartedly give Bellew the credit he deserves. As for his next opponent, looks like he has to get past his missus first.
syrianpitbull
Re: Whats next for Tony Bellew? He called out Andre Ward, but I don't think that fight would ever come off unless you paid Ward very well to come out of retirement. Plus there would be no belt on the line which Ward wanted so that he can become a 3 weight world champ. I think realistically, a fight with Tyson Fury or the winner of WBSS is the next and final steps if he so wishes to continue.

pittbox
Re: Whats next for Tony Bellew? I'd like to see him back in the cruiserweight division. I'm not sure he'd try to lose weight again, but he weights just about 10 pounds over the limit and looks fatty, so I don't think it'd be a problem for him. At the same time, there are too many boxers that'd simply outskill him (Usyk, Gassiev), so the heavyweight division may be safer for him. Moving up helped him improve his power. I'm not sure what option may Eddie Hearn have for him when he's already a PPV boxer.
Ton
Re: Whats next for Tony Bellew? Almost like a repeat last night, but in quicker time! Fair play, Bellew did what he kept saying he would. Make no mistake though, Haye was shot to pieces. While he had a good opener and round two he was somewhat plodding forward, pretty flat footed and slow and Bellew was probably most likely figuring out where Haye was at at this point, stayin cautious of any power shots. And when they came, they no longer had that zip of old. Soon as Bellew piled on pressure it was game over. Bellew is now in some limbo though. I don't think he wishes to fight on much longer, and if his finances are healthy and prosperous doesn't anyone see him calling it a day? At heavyweight he might compete with some of the fringe contenders and will always be much much smaller. Cruiserweight is now teeming with quality though, and combined with the efforts involved to make weight, would he really be motivated to compete there? Even so I think there are several men that beat him. Eddie Hearn will have to assess this one and see which way he can cash him out imo. Bear Hugger
Re: Whats next for Tony Bellew? One of the many headlines doing the rounds (no pun intended) atm. Bellew Vows: I Will Knock Andre Ward Out! I Will Beat Him! Oh dear. The win over a faded David Haye has gone to his head, Ward would school Bellew.
Cableaddict
Re: Whats next for Tony Bellew? I wouldn't mind seeing Bellew fight again at HW. His careful, methodical, yet still aggressive approach against Haye really was impressive. He has no chance against the elites, but I'd love to see what he could do with a slower, top ten opponent. Maybe Bellew vs the winner of Ortiz - Whyte? If he tries to go back to 200, and fights anyone in the top 5, he's lunch.

Price he wouldn't fight because he's too big and punches too hard.
LondonRingRules
Re: Whats next for Tony Bellew? --- Pretty sure any top 25 heavy easily knocks out Bellew, but the thing about Bellew is he's past any aspirations save money, hence my desire to see him clown Deyonce in the lead up and box and move to clown him for the majority of the fight before the inevitable. Set the table for Josh by bringing him to the UK. Double his last purse to $4 mil and pay Bellew the balance, what £10 mil? Plenty left over for fast Eddie. As to Wart, the guy made fake noises about moving up to cruiser, but just about had an heart attack making the move to LH.
Ton
Re: Whats next for Tony Bellew? Heard a clip of Bellew on Talksport this morning, from I assume yesterday, saying he would stop Tyson Fury. Think that's a fight that could be made at this stage in both their careers now. Bellew would be hoping to catch Fury early in his return while he is ring rusty, and there's been some history of words from each fighter, Liverpool/Manchester rivalry and all that. Not sure it'd be the most interesting of match ups. Fury too big for Bellew to get near him. Could be Bellew's cash out and Fury's warm up to the bigger boys. repsac
Re: Whats next for Tony Bellew? Fury looks to be taking a couple comeback fights, saw somewhere he said he would fight Shannon Briggs. If Tyson is even entertaining the idea of a Briggs fight, you would think Bellew would have to wait until possibly 2019 at the earliest to get Fury in the ring. Thats a lot of time for Bellew to sit on the shelf. How about trying to lure someone like Bryant Jennings to the U.K. He's ranked by a couple of the alphabet organizations, and he's a name in the HW division. Don't think he would be much of a threat to knockout Bellew, and if by some chance Tony is able to stop him. He can always say "Hey, Wlad couldn't do that." Yeah I think Bellew was talking about a fight very soon with Fury, maybe knowing full well Tyson would never be available at such notice? The issue with the latter is would it really generate that much interest, and thus the money that Bellew is most likely looking for, in possibly just 1 or 2 more fights before he calls it a day? Get the feeling he will only want a big name, big purse fight really. If you add in that he wants it to be a winnable one also, his options become mightily limited :haha: Heavyweight Joshua - Big loss Wilder - Big loss Povetkin - Dangerous and maybe not a ticket seller / PPV Miller - Same as above Ortiz - Same as above Whyte - Dangerous fight but possibly a good match up? He's not a huge name in the division though, but might peak the interest of domestic fight fans. Parker - Not a bad option, is a name after the AJ fight, is it a winnable fight for Bellew though? Not so sure. Cruierweight Usyk Breidis Gassiev All the above are quality fighters, and would back them to beat Bellew. Not sure the UK casuals would know too much about them for any of them to sell either. ...And he probably wouldn't want to get down to light heavy but a few of thise boys might be willing to jump up weight and meet at the 200lbs limit? Light Heavy Stevenson Kovalev Jack Bivol

It would certainly put a spin on things. Bellew-Fury seems a money spinner for both men.

Bellew-Fury seems a money spinner for both men. That fight does make some sense, despite the comical size difference. Now, I'm not the kind of guy that sees conspiracies or corruption every time I turn over a boxing rock, oh no not me, but the scenario I envision is: Bellew clearly needs to start looking soon for his "end of career" parachute. He gets paid a career-high purse, both above and UNDER that table, to fight Fury but take a dive / coast to a safe (also paid for) decision. Fury "establishes" himself as once again a "legitimate" HW champion, Bellew buys a nice villa in the south of France and retires, and AJ has his next "high profile but completely safe" opponent, still not having to face Wilder. And Eddie Hearn gets even richer. ------------------------------------------- Of course, none of this would ever actually happen, because as we all know, boxing is 100% legit. I keep TELLING you guys......
BoztheMadman
Re: Whats next for Tony Bellew? I think Whyte would make more sense for him than Fury, surely. Parker beats him, no doubt. He'd tear Bellew apart. Too strong and too good. Fury would just be a too hard fight. He should aim for the European-level fighters, for there is no chance in hell he can beat world-level ones! smokin
Re: Whats next for Tony Bellew? Personally I find bellew tedious to listen to and I can't watch any interviews with him for his fight build ups saying that he's willing to be brave in the ring so good luck to him I hope he doesn't come unstuck in a bad way against one of the bigger heavies
joe strong
Re: Whats next for Tony Bellew? Bellew is highly rated in a few bodies now at HW so he has some options but most of his HW options are much bigger than him. If he could get a Fury fight or Povetkin I would seriously consider it. I could see the winner of CW tourney fighting him for all the marbles in England as the payday would be huge. I'm not sure if it would be good for him to face the big punching HWs but I said the same thing against Haye so who am I to question it? He has lucrative options so it will be interesting to see which direction he goes in. He could always retire...
joe strong
Re: Whats next for Tony Bellew? The winner of Charr/Oquendo for the WBA "scoobie doo, regular, part time, skidmark" belt would make for a good option. Marco Huck or Adamek? Both those fights could actually make him a little money as each are very popular in their respective countries. Chisora or Whyte is an all British dustup? I still think fighting the winner of CW tourney is the best option though...
