Kite1345
Any thoughts on the Ryan Garcia-Jayson Velez matchup? It seems like Velez has faced the better opposition and is also older. It seems like a classic example of youth vs experience. Their weigh-in was certainly interesting, with Garcia seemingly trying way too hard to act tough and Velez seeming to get to him. I would personally love to see Velez knock Garcia on his ass since I think Garcia needs to be brought down to Earth a bit. At the same time, I wouldn't be upset if Garcia stepped up and beat him. It should be interesting to see where Garcia is at this stage. What are your thoughts?
sould664
Re: Ryan Garcia vs Jayson Velez Think its a bit closer than the bookies have it. Good test for Garcia and I predict Garcia by UD.
pittbox
Re: Ryan Garcia vs Jayson Velez It's hard to have any predictions with Garcia boxing just 31 rounds so far ;-) Velez' got back on the track with two good wins over Lopez and Mercado. He's never lost by KO, so he should be a slight favorite in my opinion. I think it's probably the best matchmaking on Golden Boy on ESPN so far. BoztheMadman
Re: Ryan Garcia vs Jayson Velez I also favor Velez to win on points...Garcia seems to be all talk and little show so far. He has nothing to show yet he brags like he already beat half the division.
WelshDevilRob
Re: Ryan Garcia vs Jayson Velez Jayson Velez was a top contender, drew with Gradovich for the IBF title. Then he went on a run of 4 points defeats, was hard to figure out what went wrong. He's had three decent wins in a row but I'm going for the talented Garcia to win on points. pittbox
Re: Ryan Garcia vs Jayson Velez Thoughts on Garcias options from here on in? I'd like to see him against Shafikov. After this disappointing loss against Rene Alvarado he may be considered as not so dangerous, but just a year ago he looked good against Easter Jr. He's very aggressive and throws a lot of punches. I think it'd be a great test, but I'm not sure Garcia's promotes are ready for such a risk. There's also an option of attacking Machado's title. He's also promoted by Golden Boy and may be considered as not proven enough. But it also may be tough for promoters to make a fight between the two promising fighters of their own. Time will tell, but I suspect Garcia has great potential to become the next Broner. (The bad part, not the few good parts)
repsac
Re: Ryan Garcia vs Jayson Velez Seems like some people are being overly too critical on Ryan. He's 19, fought his toughest opponent to date and won the fight. Now is it true he's getting a BIG head with his inflated ego? Perhaps. And maybe a lost will humble him a bit. He fought an experienced fighter who's far from being done and he showed that there's more in his boxing than just a strong punch.
