iamasadlittleboy
We've known for a while that WBA/IBF/Ring Magazine Light Flyweight Ryoichi Taguchi (27-2-2, 12) [田口良一] would be defending his titles against Hekkie Budler (31-3, 10) on May 20th at the Ota City Ward Gymnasium, and on the same show would be IBF Minimumweight champion Hiroto Kyoguchi (9-0, 7) [京口 紘人], who would be making his 2nd defense of the title. Sadly Kyoguchi's opponent is still to be confirmed, however we have learned that there will be a third title bout on the card, a WBO Asia Pacific Minimumweight title fight. The bout will see the excellent Masataka Taniguchi (10-2, 7) [谷口 将隆] battle against young Filipino puncher Pedro Taduran (12-1, 9). The Japanese fighter has lost his first two title bouts by majority decision, losing in a Japanese title bout to Reiya Konishi and an OPBF title fight to Tsuaba Koura, though could easily have gotten the decision in both of those bouts. He's a very exciting but over-looked fighter who looks to have all the tools to go to the top. He's aggressive, heavy handed, fast, has lovely combinations and already proven at title level, despite the losses to Konishi and Koura. He proved in those bouts that he can fight at a high tempo for 10 and 12 rounds respectively and can take a solid shot, as he was forced to do a number of times from Koura. Taduran is also a very over-looked fighter and the 21 year old southpaw is on a great run, having won his last 6 bouts in a row including a 2nd round TKO win against Philip Luis Cuerdo for the PBF Minimumweight title and a 5th round KO against former world title challenger Jerry Tomogdan, to defend that title and claim This will be Taduran's first bout outside of the Phillipines with but notable wins, not just against Tomogdan and Cuerdo but also Robert Onggocan, he'll not have any fear of Taniguchi. Sadly it's unclear if this bout will get any television coverage, with a delay segment on a Guts Fighting card being the best we can hope for, but for fans at the venue this is going to be a great treat and an excellent third title bout for the card.
