Bogdan Dinu, fighting this Friday.

Dinu is possibly one of the best HW in the sport today, and still virtually unknown to even dedicated fans.

6'5", 245 lbs. Moves like a middleweight. Aggressive as hell & fights out of the Philly Shell. Great balance & footwork. Massive power in both hands. Loves to go the the body...

When he quit his day job in early 2014, and signed with Canada's GYM, many of us thought this massively talented fighter would finally get his shot at the big time. Instead, he has continually been put on early undercards, not even included in the main broadcasts.

He's still "only" 30 years old, so he could still make it big, but time is running out. WTF is GYM doing with this guy? I just don't get it.

Friday he fights a seemingly decent opponent, but in Bucharest, fer chissakes.

You can't make this shit up.

Re: Bogdan Dinu, fighting this Friday.

Still no full fight to be found, but the ending is up:

Looks like a badly overmatched opponent, but that ending flurry was sweet!

Tell me that inside attack wouldn't give Wlad a hard time. (Or Wilder, for that matter.)

Dinu is SERIOUS, and almost nobody knows who he is.

Re: Bogdan Dinu, fighting this Friday.

Looked decent in the clip though the opponent didn't look upto much. Dinu is 30 years old and now 16-0. He's not fought for any kind of title and his competition has been very poor. Eric Martel Bahoeli and Kertson Manswell the best names on his resume, so far.

It's time he stepped up - plenty of competition in Europe.

I think it's a classic case of nobody decent willing to face a very dangerous & promising guy with no rep. All risk / no reward, the same as Wilder faced for most of his career.

The only way to get guys like this good fights is to throw money at the problem. Evidently GYM wasn't willing to do so.

- And another brilliant prospect will likely never get his chance.

Without the money spent in North America then it's a tough ask, his best bet would've probably been Main Events. He's in Europe and several promoters around who will look at him and try and get him onboard - he just needs to sign for them. With the belts fragmented this is his time to go seeking a title-shot in the next two years.

Current WBC Mediterranean champion Frenchman Raphael Tronche is set to face his toughest test to date as he prepares to face rugged Romanian Bogdan Dinu for the vacant IBF Intercontinental title.

Scheduled for Jan 29 at the Studio City Casino in Macau this fight will be main support to Filipino Jerwin Ancajas who defends his IBF Super Flyweight title against Mexican Jose Alfredo Rodriguez.

According to matchmaker Sean Gibbon’s fans will be in for an action packed event while showcasing some of China’s prospects.

Having 2 undefeated heavyweights appear on the event with a top 15 world rating at stake will see both boxers leave everything in the ring in what Gibbons describes as a ‘crowd pleaser’.

Bogdan Dinu who is undefeated in 16 fights will no doubt enter the fight as favourite, however Tronche who remains undefeated after 8 fights will be full of confidence after securing the WBC Mediterranean title just 2 months ago in his native France.

Fans can expect an exciting fight as Dinu typically will try to drag Tronche into a brawl to counter the mobile Frenchman’s work rate and effective use of the ring space.

I don't know a THING about Tronche', (8 (4) - 0, but never fought outside of France) but this sounds like very good news for us Dinu fans.

Even a crappy belt carries some juice. (Assuming he wins.)

Re: Bogdan Dinu, fighting this Friday.

Seems like an easy win for Donu, but always better than fighting another bum.

Tronche has no high level experience, but is undefeated & looks to have a very long reach, so he's probably not easy to put away.

He actually looks pretty darned good. Very athletic, very aggressive, and "pretty good" balance/ footwork. Here's his first ever pro fight. He's fighting a total can, an opponent that would embarrass even Deontay Wilder, but at least you can see that Tronche has natural gifts:

The way I see it:

This should indeed be an easy win for Dinu, partly because of Tronche's lack of experience, but also because Dinu is probably as good as we think he is. This fight, should he win convincingly, will prove a lot about him. It's a solid first step towards the top ten.

If he loses, well .....

Re: Bogdan Dinu, fighting this Friday.

BTW - Boxrec has no mention of Troche. They show Dinu fighting 14 (13) -0 Adrian Granat in March.

Granat is far from proven, but he's KTFO a bunch of "decent opponents on your way up" type journeymen:

Sprott, Darnell Wilson, Airich, Danny Williams. Sure, you're supposed to beat those guys, but they are all fairly durable, and this kid Granat took them all out in 3 rounds or less. His last bout was a 6th round TKO of Franz Rill, who went the distance with Helenius.

Fairly Interesting, if not exactly exciting. :noidea:

Damn, it's hard work being a boxing fan these days. I'm getting plum worn out from clutching at all these bloody straws.....

Re: Bogdan Dinu, fighting this Friday.

--- The suits are bogarting bogdan to set up lucrative trilogy with Malik Scott, or so my tea leaves tell me this AM.

If they tell me different tomorrow, I'll haul out my crack meth ball for conformation or consternation however it works out. Nothing like a 250 prospect to stir up the pot. Maybe Ike shows up to save the day. We can dream, can't we?
