Big News From Down Unda' - SPOILERS !

Well, Joseph Parker continues to do his sweet thing, in front of a sold out crowd at the local New Zealand Burger King.

Although the entire rest of the casual-fan world has literally no idea who this guy is, Parker continues his undeniable rise to greatness, absolutely dominating the still-formidable Alexander Dimentrenko. Parker looked amazing, with high output, great footwork & defense, and accurate, heavy combinations. The tentative, reserved guy we saw against Takam (a smart fight, regardless) was nowhere in the arena.

No one can possibly deny how good this man is, any longer. (Certainly not the 364 people who saw this fight.)

He is truly the king of New Zealand. Whatever that means..... Don't expect AJ or Wlad to go anywhere near him, anytime soon.

----------------

In possibly even bigger news, Parker's stablemate Izuagbe Ugonoh turned Gregory Tony into a quivering pile of steaming blood & oil, in just 2 rounds.

Ugonoh, who needs a nickname even worse than he needs to get the hell out of New Zealand, might be the most naturally gifted HW on the planet. Maybe even EVER. Time will tell, but oh baby.... If you don't know who this guy is, check him out immediately.

How soon we forget: When Dimitrenko was down to fight Shannon Briggs, you said

Dimentrenko has never beaten a single credible opponent. The only guy he’s beaten that I’ve even HEARD of is Michael Sprott, FFF-sake. !

Still formidable doesn't mean elite. It doesn't even mean talented. I pick my words carefully:

formidable |ˈfôrmədəb(ə)lfərˈmidəb(ə)l| adjective: Inspiring fear or respect through being impressively large, powerful, intense, or capable: a formidable opponent.

What's impressive isn't that Parker beat him, it's HOW Parker beat him.

( Nice try though! )

Re: Big News From Down Unda' - SPOILERS !

Hearn was posting a video of Parker on his Twitter page. I wonder if that means there is a good chance Parker will feature as an undercard in November with a fight between Joshua-Parker taking place early 2017.

Good thought. Hearn has certainly mentioned Parker a few times in interviews. - But who would be the likely opponent, assuming Parker wants to fight yet again in November? I'm pretty sure Hearn mentioned Parker-Price not too long ago, but I can't see Price taking that fight, especially given how he just "fought" a human heavy bag yesterday.

Dimentrenko has youth on his side, and a pretty good reach advantage, but this bout is far from a mismatch. It might be a complete circus act, but not a mis-match

Scared of clowns, is he?

Besides, the fight was obviously rigged just like all the rest.

That's a good point Gav......anyone with an ounce of sense can see what took place. Dimitrenko was paid to make Parker look good, to start his world dominance!

***Disclaimer*** I've not seen the fight

Re: Big News From Down Unda' - SPOILERS !

Lot of push in New Zealand for Parker vs Ruiz Jr for the vacant WBO belt. Parker's team see that as a winnable fight and having a belt means a better share when taking on Anthony Joshua in the future.

That'd be a good scrap, though I still think there's far too much effort goes into not making fights these days.

Yep. Which is why I keep saying they are making a mistake fighting n new Zealand all the time. Public perception is at least 90% of the fight game. Being ranked doesn't mean squat if nobody knows who you are.

Promoters make fights happen, not the ranking organizations.

Re: Big News From Down Unda' - SPOILERS !

It looks like they're doing it again, though at least it will be for a minor belt:

Parker vs Fat Andy, Dec 10th, in (you guessed it) New Zealand.

Parker's promoter says it's 95% certain.

---------------------------------------------------------

Of course, the NABF is a joke, but I guess having that belt will help sell a later fight with AJ or whomever.

- Especially considering 99.999% of the world have no idea who Parker is.

Also, if the WBO strip Tyson Fury in time, then supposedly these two will be fighting for that vacant belt. - In which case Kevin Barry just became the luckiest man in all of boxing, bumping into an important title fight despite himself.

This is actually a very exciting fight. Both men love to fight on the inside. Parker the accumulation puncher and Ruiz the one-punch specialist. Parker with the footwork, Ruiz with the crazy hand speed.

My prediction: Parker wins via a KO shot to the body, somewhere in the second half.

Re: Big News From Down Unda' - SPOILERS !

Makes you wonder who da' heck Eddie Hearn is going to be able to get for AJ, esp at this late date. David Price has already said he won't be fighting again this year. Povetkin & Stiverne are tied up.

The only credible opponents:

1: Wlad, who obviously is in top condition right now. I love it, since there's no way in hell Wlad will face AJ, no matter what Hearn says, and this will make Wlad look incredibly bad. (There IS a god ! )

2: Lucas Browne. - But IMO Browne will likely be approached by Wlad, since Wlad will want to finish out his contract with a easy & safe win.

3: Luis Ortiz. - And let's face it, nobody wants a piece of THAT.

Maybe, in all seriousness, AJ could fight Jennings. That would be a fairly easy win, but not perceived as TOO easy. He'd gain valuable experience because at least Jennings would come at him hard, which can't be said for any of AJ's previous pro opponents. And most important, that would get AJ some valuable exposure in the USA, assuming that HBO or Showtime licensed it.

--- Sweet, shiny shovel. Plutarch would be impressed.

It was he in the first century ad who coined the idiom "sometimes a spade is a spade by any other name, or alternately a fig is a fig which our beloved Billy Shakes reinvented as a rose by any other name is still a rose.

So the question burns whether a cheap Chinese made spade is really a spade or something else entirely hatched up by resident ever present illuminati? If we look closer we might find our answers in our reflections since sometimes a spade may be used as a mirror, an axe, or a very large tablespoon, but not all at the same time. Bon appetite all and thanks Plutarch. I do believe that's his sunny smile I see in that shovel...only in boxing...

BTW Andy looking trim, well at least trim for him. /QUOTE]

Trim? I sure hope so, but you can't tell from that video.

He was actually wearing coveralls, so no one could see his gut. He had a bunch of fat Japanese warriors (practically Sumo wrestlers) perform in the room, probably so he'd look almost normal by comparison.

Look at his face, in the close ups. Dat boy looks like has been EATING.

On Nov 13th, Abel Sanchez claims Andy started camp at 275 lbs and was currently at 260, but that they are shooting for 245 lbs by fight night.

245 is NOT anywhere near trim for Ruiz, though it would be 1 lbs less than his lightest ever as a pro. (not saying much). 260 lbs is terrible.

We've seen Andy get trim before, for like 2 days, then blow up again before a fight.

I have a feeling that years from now, team Ruiz will remember this bout as "The Blunda' from Down Unda' . "

--- Andy never had much of a gut.

Hes always been well distributed. At 10% body fat he'd weigh about 230, so 245-250 is a good weight for him. Nothing wrong with being a Fatboy if he can fight and condition himself. I like the way he cooly faced down those native warriors who could've charged and made him into a mincemeat pie. He was real cool when needed. Great fight I hope.

He looks like crap at 250. No way he'd be 10% at 230, (he has narrow shoulders and a really short reach) Few HW's fight at 10% anyway, so no biggie, but he's never going to weigh 230 so what's the point?.

Ruiz has gotten by so far because he hasn't ever had to keep up a really high output for 12 rounds. Parker is a whole different animal than anyone he's faced so far. Ruiz is now entering the level where stamina matters as much as power.

If you can post an edited clip of Wilder's left hook, i can post a video of Andy looking trim. :)

I say he weighs in under 245lbs for this fight.

I'll take that bet. :haha:

Name your terms.
