Rematch: Crolla vs Linares, can you see a different outcome?

Anthony Crolla is likely to get a rematch with Jorge Linares, with the new WBA world lightweight champion even happy to return to Manchester.

'Million Dollar' suffered a unanimous points loss in front of an expectant crowd, with the established three-weight world champion and new Ring Magazine title holder winning 115-114 117-111 115-113.

After 12 tough rounds, Crolla admitted that his head "was still spinning" but promoter Eddie Hearn revealed there is a rematch deal in the contract and Linares admitted he would like to do it all again.

Usually promoters do this to guarantee the same or another fighter from their stable a chance at the title. Personally, I don’t think they should be allowed to do this and a fighters promoter/manager have to be stronger and say “NO”.

Hearn is deluded and trying to con fans by saying it was a close fight and Crolla will win next time. The truth was it was never a close fight and the result would be the same next time if not a knock out by Linares (if reports are right he hurt his hands in round 6).

I don't know enough about Crolla.

Still, it seemed to me that even though there was plenty of back and forth, Linares was never in any real danger and mostly controlled every round. - And he'd be better prepared in the rematch, so even if Crolla fought a better fight, I doubt he could win. Maybe if he can learn to protect the left side of his head....

I'd rather see Linares fight someone else, maybe even go for another belt. Flanagan would be a good fight, no? And probably sell REALLY well. Luke Campbell would be another huge draw, and not too dangerous. There are so many "almost great" fighters right now at 135...

He'd better stay away from Robert Easter, though. And Verdejo.

And Verdejo.

He got knocked out by the pavement. Not even sure when he'll likely be back.

Crolla needs a couple of comeback wins first, maybe then Linares will wear down / age in the meantime. Which could change the outcome of the fight. Immediate rematch leads to another 8-4 or 9-3 UD.

I don't think Crolla should go back there just yet as he might not reach the final bell next time, he showed great courage taking the fight and during the fight but he needs a break and then a sacrificial lamb before making a few quid against Flanagan, that's what I'd like to see anyway

I don't really like these rematch clauses unless the fight was extremely close or a slugfest (an even one).

Tend to agree with what's been said so far above. Crolla gave it as good as he ever will, he didn't have an off night, he was just a class below Linares.

The only way he may win would be by cuts as it was mentioned that Linares has historically suffered from, but you'd imagine he'll be even more ready for Crolla having already shared a ring with him.

I thought the fight was very close, agree with the two judges 115-113 and 115-114. A lot of Linares flashy work was being blocked and Crolla's jab, although not strong, was in JL's face to make so many of the rounds close. Having said that, I can't see AC doing any better. I still think JL is vulnerable but AC doesn't punch hard enough to bring this out. I like Mikey Garcia to kayo Linares.
