WelshDevilRob
Hoping someone can shed some light on TV viewing figures in the US during the 80's and earlier. I've seen plenty of PPV numbers from recent years, from both the UK and US but don't seem to be able to trackdown figures for earlier years and fights shown on ABC, NBC and CBS. For example does anyone know the viewing figures for Mike Tyson, Larry Holmes, Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard fights?

LondonRingRules
Re: TV Viewing figures in the US --- Thought PAC/Bradley 1/2 generated just under 1mil. Pretty sure the Marquez rematch was well over a mil. Because of TUE retirements, Manny might have the highest total career PPVs numbers in fights and viewers, but a lot of smoke and mirrors in PPV #. Huge drop off from Oddly/Williams to Jennings/Mutley!
boxeador
Re: TV Viewing figures in the US Pretty so interesting article Rob. We are in an era now without too many boxing stars, with the retirements of Manny(for me is a retired boxer) and Floyd, and the injured Wilder. And i can´t see too many new stars on the boxing firmament. Maybe Anthony Joshua.(GGG is 34 yet...)

Huge drop off from Oddly/Williams to Jennings/Mutley! Can't stand by the validity of the figures, as they are from other forums but all with good intensions. More as info to go with the topic. US will always be hard to get 100% as Closed Circuit was in play for certain fights - Arum's version of PPV :) But, there must be viewing figures for Ali fights, hoping someone knows? But if the UK can publish the 18 million for McGuigan fights, then surely our off-shoot the USA can have figures for fights like Hagler vs Hearns and Tyson vs Berbick - how do I find out? LondonRingRules
Re: TV Viewing figures in the US --- BBC a govt entity has a different culture than Inc US broadcasters. Offhand, it was prob abc/nbc/cbs that broadcast those fights though that was also around when HBO was getting traction.
