I just want to say RIP to Bobby Chacon

Back in 2005 when i first started to collect fights, Chacon was one of the reasons i got hooked. A friend told me to try to get everything on Arguello, who i knew of and is one of my all time favorites. Upon chasing down Arguello fights, i happened across Chacon. Heard of him briefly before, but hadn't seen much of him. Especially since youtube was just starting out. And boxing fights weren't exactly being posted at any type of regularity as it is today online. His fights with Limon, Little Red and Boza Edwards struck a cord inside of me. I began looking for anything involving the School Boy. Still remember watching his fights with Olivares for the first time. R.I.P. to one of the great little big men in the sport of boxing.

I caught the end of his career. What a career! Two Ring Fights of the Year. Fought some special names. Had a great career and won the WBC super-feaherweight title. Undoubted power. 59-7-1, 47 KOs record is brilliant.

Rest in Peace, Bobby. Thanks for the memories, Champ.

--- Forget p4p, titles, Schoolboy was a fighter's fighter, the highest echelon that a boxer can achieve.

His rubber fight as a washed up sacrifice against Rafael Limon is as epic as any fight can ever be...a brilliant addition to Valhalla where they're drawing lots to see who has the honor of his first fight.

This news makes me sad. Bobby was the embodiment of the boxing warrior and had all the qualities that you can wish for in a fighter. He only didn't know when it was time to quit or who not to fight. That Mancini fight was just not a good choice and it came too late in his career. RIP Schoolboy, you will never be forgotten! :rip:

Oscar De La Hoya on the passing of Bobby Chacon

“I’m sad to hear of the passing today of legendary boxer Bobby ‘Schoolboy’ Chacon. Bobby was one of the best fighters to emerge on the scene in boxing the 1970s. Hailing from Southern California, Bobby was someone I looked up to as a young fighter growing up in East Los Angeles. Bobby had the natural talent, good looks, personality and power to be a memorable fighter in the ring that attracted crowds.
