BoztheMadman
How about that?? Isn't that great news or what? Fireworks are expected, of course. Usyk only has 9 pro fights now but I think he should be ready still. Who do you take? It's on the 17th by the way. :boxing:
LondonRingRules
re: Glowacki vs Usyk is on and Result --- Gotta favor whacky but if to a decision, the powers favor the newest Ukrainian star. Should be great though.
Cableaddict
re: Glowacki vs Usyk is on and Result Good heads-up, Boz! It's been on for a while, but odd that no one mentioned it here. (including me.) What a fight! Right there with Gonzlez-Cuadras & Ward-Kovalev. I think there are only 2-3 CW with any chance at all of beating Usyk, and Glow is one of them. He moves really well (not like Usyk, but better than most other top CW.) He has plenty of power, and he's tough as nails. Standing in the pocket with Huck for 11 rounds was something else. For those not following the (incredibly stacked & deep) CW division much: Usyk is almost everybody's darling. The Golden Boi. The heir apparent. Expected to clean out CW and then move to HW. He does look spectacular, sort of a CW Roy Jones with more power, but he has yet to fight a really serious opponent in the pros. This is it, the test of tests. It's "shit or get off the pot" time for Oleksandr. I don't even know who to root for, though I think an Usyk KO would be better for the sport overall. He has a more fan-friendly style, and is better looking as well. He's easy to market to the casuals. Well, fasten your seatbelts for this one, folks ........ pittbox
re: Glowacki vs Usyk is on and Result Usyk seems like a more talented guy, but I have some doubts about his defence, which may be crucial.

Usyk seems to be in love with his athleticism. Granted, he does move like a prime RJJ, but when you combine that with Usyk's mediocre pro opposition, bad habits form. The obvious bad habit is how Usyk loves to lean in too much. Sure, that can work to draw your opponent forward, setting up a counter (RJJ was a master at this) but Usyk does it to the point of sometimes being off-balance, and he HAS gotten tagged as a result. In the ams with headgear on, or against cabbies in the pros, this can work. - but not against Glowacki! They have it scheduled from 23:00 turkish time, 22:00 CET, 21:00 British. That's what I know at the moment. I think the main event would be around 0:00 CET, 23:00 British. Cableaddict
re: Glowacki vs Usyk is on and Result This fight is happening in Poland, correct? 6 pm in the USA, yes? Will there be no English-speaking licensed broadcast? If not, unbelievable. Yet another FOTY candidate from the CW division, that almost nobody is going to know about in the USA or England. (except hardcore fans.) Edited September 8, 2016 by Cableaddict
LondonRingRules
re: Glowacki vs Usyk is on and Result --- I prefer foreign broadcasts which allow you to focus more on the fight and crowd reactions instead of having to filter a trio of dolts filling their shorts. BTW, Huck mostly had his way with Whacki, so I expect him to be out boxed, so it's just if Usyk has enough discipline to stay out of trouble for 12 rds. It's funny I always complain about the idiotic commentators, but then when I don't have them I miss it. ;-) Well, it's mostly the pre-fight discussions I miss, plus the after-fight interview. You're right about during the actual fight. You would think, given today's technology, that there would be some kind of real-time speech translater available, for such things. How cool would THAT be? Javier Ortega Nieto
re: Glowacki vs Usyk is on and Result I have not seen him fight to Usyk so I can not give a great review, it supports a great amateur career and will surely be a tough fight. We all know the Glowacki and is one of those fighters who comes to win or die.
pittbox
re: Glowacki vs Usyk is on and Result What disappoints me is an undercard of the event, but promoters probably didn't have a lot of left after taking this fight.
LondonRingRules
re: Glowacki vs Usyk is on and Result --- Most undercards don't get broadcast, so have become less important to making a big event happen, and this pretty big in Poland. Just saw Whacki last fight against Cunningham and he was superb.

Just saw Whacki last fight against Cunningham and he was superb. Indeed. The guy is no joke. - And balls of steel, as we saw against Huck. Like Javier wrote, Glowacki "comes to win or die." The big question about Usyk, besides his one gaping defensive flaw, is how he will respond when hurt. I've never even seen him in trouble. He just always has things his way. This fight will tell us a lot about both men. Edited September 14, 2016 by Cableaddict
pittbox
re: Glowacki vs Usyk is on and Result Well, against Cunningham , Glowacki looked to me like he didn't have a real control over the bout despite scoring multiple knockdowns.
