David Price has been mentioned by Eddie Hearn several times in the past, as a potential Anthony Joshua opponent. Joshua seems to be struggling to get an opponent for a voluntary defence. Suddenly, stories of Price knocking out AJ in sparring, in 2011, appearing.

Is it a fight people would want to see and watch?

David Price talking to Sky about that KO in sparring.

"It's probably the worst kept secret in boxing and it's something that I've never really brought up or mentioned," Price told Sky Sports.

"When it happened, Joshua was an amateur on the GB squad and I was a novice pro and I kept it to myself because he was an up and coming potential boxer. I wanted to protect him from it, didn't want to go around boasting about it.

"But our positions have changed and he's IBF heavyweight champion of the world. I'm someone who would definitely be interested in having a shot at it, and I thought the time was right to let the cat out of the bag and let people know.

"It is possible that Anthony Joshua can be hurt and can be beaten. What I'm talking about happened a long time ago, but it's still the two same people."

Asked if he knocked out Joshua, Price replied: "100 per cent yeah. If it was a fight, it would have been stopped immediately. Not asleep, but flat on his face and ushered out of the ring by his trainers.

"It doesn't seem to have affected him that much, because he's gone on to achieve good things. He won a world silver medal a few months later.

"Will he see my face and remember what happened when we were across the ring? Possibly. But there is only one way to find out.

"Look, the Dillian Whyte fight sold on the back of an amateur fight when Anthony Joshua got put down and got up and lost on points three bouts in. Anthony Joshua when he was a double ABA champion - soon to be world silver medallist - getting put flat on his face by myself, that should sell as well, I would imagine."

"One hundred per cent, in a heartbeat," said Price. "I've been in training since I came back. I've put my name in a hat for a voluntary defence but I don't think I've been mentioned. When I've seen that it looks like they have been struggling with opponents, I've put my name forward again.

"It depends on how Anthony Joshua will view what I've said. I'm putting it out there that the last time we did share a ring together, only one of us walked out unaided and that was me.

"The fight between me and Anthony Joshua isn't a foregone conclusion. Both fighters can get in the ring and win. That's what people want, the excitement and the potential of seeing Anthony Joshua getting beat and you don't need to look any further than myself."

Joshua may have a dodgy chin, we're not sure - Price takes a shot horrible, and has always been defensively poor. Price may be able to land on Joshua, maybe even have some impact, but we all know the moment Joshua lands on Price, it's over.

--- Price just a big bloke mistakenly guided into boxing because of size.

At least Oddly had some pedigree and skills before his fainting goat syndrome became obvious. All price has is power that he can hardly tap into anymore. Hearns just using him to promote Josh next fight.

Releasing an article like that on Sky Sports tells us they are trying to capture the UK's imagination for a potential fight. I'm not arsed about it and Joshua wont win many applaudits by beating a poor Price.

Poor fight if made. Joshua KO 1 or 2.

It strikes me that so many Brits still believe in Price. It was a shock for me that he was a bookmaker favourite against Teper. Now, someone in the media would try to present him as a legit contender.

Find me one Brit who's surname isn't Price who still believe's in him!? :haha: I aint totally convinced even Price himself has any belief left! Man's got to earn some money though as he has got nowhere near the level he would have expected to get to in the sport.

Even his mother has started betting on the other guy.

Heck, that's ONE way to make a living. ;-)

Re: David Price vs Anthony Joshua next?

If he's not fighting at the 02 then could signal that he will be fighting in Liverpool.

Or one of the other London Arenas - ExCel, Copperbox...errr, Chelsea's stadium?

EDIT: Stamford Bridge! I knew I knew it!

Is he a Chelsea fan or have you just plucked out a random London club?

Re: David Price vs Anthony Joshua next?

Has anyone heard anything on where his next fight will be as Hearn as confirmed it will not be London. I have heard rumours of Manchester which is a viable option due to the size of the arena 20 odd thousand as outdoor is not an option in November, the other place I have heard is Monaco which would clearly be for a lot of money as testament to the wealth in that area. As for Joshua-Price fight I do not think it will be next and I don't really want to see it, as its obviously not going to be one of the elite in the division I would rather see him face a Stiverne or a Pulev..even Hughie Fury in Manchester?
