Idiotic Ring Announcer.

Mark Berdas - How do idiots like this get hired?

He actually pronounced Rigo's first name "Gwee-LER-mo. (And he did it TWICE.)

Jesus christmas, man, you only have one simple job to do: Introduce the bloody fighters. Forgetting the fact that "Guillermo" is not even an uncommon name, you think you might ask how to pronounce all the names before you get on camera?

What a clown.

He was sat by me at ringside when I got there. He is a bit of a legend having been a child actor in Grange hill. He later appeared in the soap Eastenders.

I honestly couldn't hear his announcement for Rigo, as the place was so noisy.

A few years back there was a great article in the Ring magazine about Jimmy Lennon Jr. He talks about how he studies before every fight. Learning how to properly pronounce every fighter's name and city of birth, etc. He said it was something he learned from his father. Sadly i guess this isn't a common occurrence.

Michael Buffer does the same thing. He even goes to the fighter's dressing rooms to double-check his pronunciations, just before the fight.

You'd THINK this would be common sense. :noidea:
