creed
Stiverne went 12 rounds with Wilder not too long ago. He may be 37 but he is tough and still can bang! Stiverne can take a punch and offers more than what Breazeale does. I think he knocks Joshua out in the later rounds.. Just Saying Anyone else give Stiverne a chance? gavpowell
Re: Does anyone else think Stiverne can defeat Joshua? I do He went 12 rounds but spent much of those 12 rounds largely inactive. I don't think he's likely to fare better against Joshua, but it'd be a decent choice of opponent. For a change,
The_budweiser
Re: Does anyone else think Stiverne can defeat Joshua? I do Hearn has suggested today that Stiverne, Pulev and Parker are in the mix to face Anthony Joshua before the end of the year. - Sky Sports - "I let the old man [barry Hearn] reach out to Don King last night and they discussed old times and also the possibility of Joshua v Stiverne for November" "He is definitely an option and a great fight for Joshua. Although the mandatory isn't due next we may look to go straight into Joseph Parker and I have also discussed the possibility of Pulev with Kalle Sauerland. "We are putting the feelers out over the next few weeks to secure the next move."
BoztheMadman
Re: Does anyone else think Stiverne can defeat Joshua? I do It would deffo be a better fight for AJ than Parker. Parker would just bring him tons of problems, to say the least. I think he can beat Joshua for sure, not sure about Stiverne. Stiverne seems to passive and in too bad shape. Even against Arreola, he was getting tagged all the time and turned it around with single punches.

LondonRingRules
Re: Does anyone else think Stiverne can defeat Joshua? I do --- Stiverne good for polishing up technique and going rds, but easy to outbox. Josh and Parker both beat Stiverne and Wilder who seems to have found his level with arreola. pittbox
Re: Does anyone else think Stiverne can defeat Joshua? I do Stiverne is tough, but also extremely slow as for a small heavyweight.
Cableaddict
Re: Does anyone else think Stiverne can defeat Joshua? I do Stiverne can sure take a punch, we know that much. Then again, Wilder had a bad hand for most of their fight, so I wouldn't count on Stiverne surviving a fully-landed AJ punch. I'd give Stiverne a (very) small chance because he's a very good counterpuncher, and AJ is rather 1-dimensional and predictable. At the same time, AJ knows how to fight well from the outside, and his defensive movement showed a noticeable improvement in the Breazeale fight. Heck, he was even a little bit more fluid than in the past. That says 2 things: 1: Stiverne won't get many chances to land. 2: Aj is still improving, and so will probably be even better in his next few fights. I don't give Stiverne much chance at all, but I sure will be watching the fight, if/when it happens !

I don't think it was the lack of energy. Parker is fast. He may still be a little unpolished but when he gets a few more fights under his belt, he should be ready for Joshua. He did say he thinks Parker can beat Joshua. He is of course wrong, but we won't have proof of that until the end of the year ;-)
BoztheMadman
Re: Does anyone else think Stiverne can defeat Joshua? I do Who do you think wins Boz if Joshua faced Parker? Hard to say. But Parker would have a chance because he has faster hands and can punch.
oldschoolboy
Re: Does anyone else think Stiverne can defeat Joshua? I do No way Stiverne could beat AJ. His only chance is a lucky, so lucky shot. AJ is going to be the unified champion in 2 years.

His only chance is a lucky, so lucky shot. AJ is going to be the unified champion in 2 years. Based on what, beating Breazeale and Whyte? AJ's definitely looking a little better lately, but please... Right now both Ortiz and Parker are 50 / 50 with AJ, and Wilder would knock him clear into Tuesday. Even Haye would probably take him out, if he could even manage to get the fight in the first place. Fury would probably dance away and pepper him with those half-assed punches of his, and never get hit flush. Maybe if they continue to match him carefully, and his defense keeps improving, then yeah. I dunno about 2 years, though. - And by then, he'll have Usyk and Ugohnoh to deal with, maybe even Bogdan Dinu. Maybe even Tommy Morrison's kid, who is so far looking spectacular. There's a lot of depth in the HW division now, and AJ is not THAT special. Edited August 1, 2016 by Cableaddict
Gerald
Re: Does anyone else think Stiverne can defeat Joshua? I do I think Stiverne is a good test for Joshua. He's robust, skillful and reasonably experienced. I think his showing against Wilder didn't reflect his real ability. He looked slower, more ponderous and less fit than in the fights leading up to that (which he has subsequently blamed on health issues) and Wilder has a reach and jab that kept him on the outside in a way that it's not obvious Joshua will find so easy. I'm picking Joshua to win but I think Stiverne will take him a few rounds and give him many more problems than Martin and Breazale.
Zute
Re: Does anyone else think Stiverne can defeat Joshua? I do Not likely. This fight is interesting in the sense to see If AJ could stop BS, but if BS wi9ns, you have your upset of the decade right there. Just my opinion. Against a novice heavyweight? I know it's a fallow decade but I wouldn't go anywhere near that far.
Javier Ortega Nieto
Re: Does anyone else think Stiverne can defeat Joshua? I do It would be a very good fight, Stiverne is a good fighter and is able to embarrass Joshua. I will not be an easy fight for the champion and although the Canadian has 37 years has not had a very tough race.
GianMan
Re: Does anyone else think Stiverne can defeat Joshua? I do Its possible, Stiverne has a good chin, good power. But the way he struggled against Wilders reach bothers me. Joshua would pick him apart on the outside.
Cableaddict
Re: Does anyone else think Stiverne can defeat Joshua? I do Stiverne would probably absorb a ton of punishment, while constantly JUST missing with his counters: AJ doesn't have fast feet, but his defensive movement is definitely improving, and Stiverne is near- clueless when moving forward. Late round RTD.
Zute
Re: Does anyone else think Stiverne can defeat Joshua? I do BS kind of fell off since losing to Wilder, a fight most people pick BS. What BS lol. I think Stiverene needs an impressive win or two before he gets a fight with AJ, I do not see it being a competitive fight at this point. Interesting in the sense that you wonder if AJ could stop BS, but I cant see him winning.

What BS lol. He was remarkably gunshy on the night, and then seemingly had tht rhabdo thing going on, which may account for it. But yeah, he's been disappointingly absent. pittbox
Re: Does anyone else think Stiverne can defeat Joshua? I do Watch Stiverne's fight against Austin and then you won't treat his performance against Wilder as an accident. He just looks awful when someone doesn't want to trade with him like Arreola. WelshDevilRob
Re: Does anyone else think Stiverne can defeat Joshua? I do Pretty sure he is a Don King fighter, so ater the negotiations last time - I don't see Hearn dealing with him. Stiverne needs to get a win and remind everyone he's still alive.
