repsac
Fight taking place tonight in Reading, PA on ESPN. I made the trip to attend. Should be fun. This card has a little bit of a FNF's feel to it.

Be interesting to see how it pans out.
repsac
re: Jamel Herring vs Denis Shafikov tonight and Result Interested in seeing this kid Szymanski fight. Decent opponent in Wilky, who last fought Charlo. Citron back in action again. I was at his last fight in May in Philly. That one was a bit scrappy. Wilky was shellshocked by Charlo. Cintron is 36, so just angling for a last big payday - power doesn't seem with him at super welterweight. Cableaddict
re: Jamel Herring vs Denis Shafikov tonight and Result Indeed, Szymanski looked pretty good. Really solid fndamentals & balance. Wilky isn't great, but a decent test for the up & coming Pole. We may have another very solid competitor in the division.
Cableaddict
re: Jamel Herring vs Denis Shafikov tonight and Result Herring is definitely in a fight right now. I like this scrappy little opponent. Shafikov fights a lot like Chocolatito. This should be fun!

repsac
re: Jamel Herring vs Denis Shafikov tonight and Result Herring had a decent first round until he got dropped at the last second of the round. Truthfully I didn't see what landed. And the venue didn't have a monitor to view a replay. Looked like after that that point starting in the 2nd, Herring was trying to fight Shafikov's fight. But he was certainly outgunned and couldn't change the tempo back to a boxing match. Slugfest with Herring going out on his shield. I felt the stoppage should've came a bit sooner. Also want to point out that I was disappointed with the size of the crowd and some of their behavior. Venue was maybe 60% full at best. Ray Flores the announcer kept informing certain sections to make their way down for seat upgrades. I hated the USA chants, followed by the Russia Russia Russia chants by the very same fans when Herring started to take a beating. Any boos for the fighters tonight was absolutely uncalled for. Theses guys left everything in the ring tonight. Alcohol might be the excuse used for this behavior, but I don't give them a pass. 2 funny Harold Lederman things from last night. Near the venue there's a set of train tracks. As a long ass freight train passes I see Harold standing there, it takes nearly 10 minutes for the train to go by. Harold looked so anxious to get into the arena to watch some boxing. Lol then after the fight I congratulated him on his induction to the boxing hall of fame. He said I might make the Hall if I continue traveling attending fights. I laughed and said "yea, if I continue for the next 50 years like him." hahahah
Cableaddict
re: Jamel Herring vs Denis Shafikov tonight and Result I was so impressed with Shafikov, I was curious to see how Bartheleme dealt with him. (I missed that fight last year.) Here it is, and DEFINITELY worth watching if you also missed it: Another great performance & fun fight to watch. Fair decision I think (except for one judge who was clearly blowing Uncle Al. ) Barthelemy had a HUGE reach advantage, and wisely used his jab really well in the early and then the late rounds. Shafikov managed to keep things close in the middle rounds, and did a lot of damage. I REALLy like this guy! I'd love to see a rematch with Barthelemy. I think if Shafikov went at Bart as hard (in the first few rounds) as he went at Herring, things might have come out differently, even though Bart is clearly much better than Herring. pittbox
Re: Jamel Herring vs Denis Shafikov tonight and Result Herring just looked like he isn't ready for such opponents. He looked very stiff and didn't present enough good defensive moves.
LondonRingRules
Re: Jamel Herring vs Denis Shafikov tonight and Result --- Herring too weak at 135. Also looked terribly slow, so my guess is he should be in 140-147 mix with better sparring. Doubt he'll ever go far, but if he hangs around long enough he might upset a touted fighter, and yeah, fans can be pathetic and even dangerously thuggish at times. Pays to note where all the exits are just in case of riot.
