Some good points made by Martin Murray in the article. Who do you see coming out on top in this all British match-up?

re: George Groves vs Martin Murray - Predictions/Results

As much as I like Murray, I feel he protects himself too much in the big fights and turns up with wrong tactics which result in him missing out on the W.

Maybe he will be a bit more adventurous as this is a British domestic fight.

Right now I favour Groves but if Murray opens up and doesn't go all defensive then I would pick Murray, but I can't see it happening going by past performances.

Groves unless Murray opens up!

I think Groves has more talent between this two fighter but unfortunately for him left very much in the ring in the two hard battle with Froch. I say Murray at points with a little margin although I hope to win Groves......

Martin Murray vs George Groves - A Prediction

by Lee Skavydis

Past world title challengers, Martin Murray and London’s George Groves will clash as chief support to Anthony Joshua’s IBF title defence against Dominic Breazeale at the 02 arena on June 25th.

The fight is heavily seen as a “crossroads” battle to determine who still has a future in the sport and who should hang the gloves firmly on the wall. Groves has admitted that whoever loses will have nowhere to go and that retirement will logically be the only option. It’s a bout that has captured the public’s imagination, even more so than the heavyweight main event! A true 50/50 fight, Groves vs Murray will surely deliver fireworks, whoever wins and loses!

re: George Groves vs Martin Murray - Predictions/Results

Keep going either way on this one and at the moment I'm bought into the popular view that Groves might start more sharply and then fade a bit down the stretch with the fight depending on how many early rounds Groves can get in the bank before the wheels start to come off. I also think if it goes to points a lot is going to depend on how Groves' jab works against Murray's high guard. If he can get success with it early (and, more importantly, if the judges perceive it to land successfully) then he has a very good chance at taking a decision.

I agree. Looking at Abraham's performance against Ramirez, I'm surprised that Murray didn't outbox him clearly.

Groves. It will be a tough test for him because of Murray's strength and resillience, but he should pass it. If not, then it's a sign he has no business fighting on top level. Groves by UD. 116-112 or something.

I see Groves comfortably outboxing Murray by jabbing and moving. Murray is tough but he takes too long to get confidence in fights and by the time he does the fights over. Groves by UD. Last chance for Martin Murray.

re: George Groves vs Martin Murray - Predictions/Results

George really threw his former trainer under the bus in this video. Yikes.

He has openly blamed him on TV and in the media before, nothing knew I am afraid.

Some fighters like to listen to others or pass the buck for their defeat. Ultimately the corner can pass on advice but it's up to the fighter to choose whether to follow his instructions or not, depending on how the fight is going.

If you go into the ring and only do what the trainer says doesn't that make you a bit one dimensional when things aren't going the way you want but you keep following the poor advice and doing the same thing over and over and loose the round/fight?

What happens the next time he loses? Does Shane get kicked to the curb? He needs to look in the mirror and just admit he isn't better than Badou Jack. At least not on that night.

I like this match up. I never had much expectations for Murray but he has made some gallant efforts at the top level and fair play. In that regard they are both evenly matched, not quite top tier fighters.

So do they do that gloves are off for any non-descript fight then? These two aren't exactly top drawer are they to warrant such build up hype? Regardless I don't watch that shite anyway.

Thats the point. Murray is a strong fighter (look at what he takes from ggg) but he is way to defensive in his fights. If his workrate was higher he would have won his fight with abraham. I also favor Groves

Groves on points for me Murray is tough and durable but Groves is the superior fighter.

Murray doesn't have the power to stop Groves but it should be a good fight.

Groves blaming Paddy Fitzpatrick....? Well he took the cheap option in getting rid of Booth he should be blaming himself and that is the one big doubt I have with Groves his mentality.
